I have finally managed to stop the spending. I did purchase 4 Christmas gifts from QVC ($30) and a new wallet for me also but that was it. The spending going forward will be from my usual monthly income. I think July will be under control from the beginning.

My church also has a K-12, and of course our Senior Pasters wife about runs the thing, we have a pastor for any and every possible group and all are on the Payroll. Our newest one just moved here with his wife (kids optional) and he is now the Pastor for all Mission(ary) things. The guy was a electrical engineer before he agreed to come here....can imagine his salary is well over $200K /yr....and once again, they want more money.
When we first moved here 8 years ago, water bills was then $29/mo it has now gone up to $42/mo. simply, I need to take care of me the best I can and let some others do the same....especially things I can't change.

I have made those difficult decisions about health and dental issues. I am not doing transplants or anything that expensive. I have survived colon cancer since 1995 and I am done with colonoscopies too. BG, when I was the church secretary, the church went after those who donated large sums of money. Then the church was closed by the Synod because it was broke. I've often wondered how the people who had donated to try to save the church felt. There were donations of $10K to try to save it and it didn't work. You wouldn't believe the way this church spends money: right now it is to bring in all the missionaries that are baptists from the entire world, pay for all the families, air fair, food, lodging here for 2-3 weeks,....then turn around and tell us we need to give them more money. Couple years ago they did a building fund...asking everyone to donate what they could and pay it over a 36 month commitment. I pledges what I could, then about 3-4 months later they asked for everyone to pay up front the commitment they made. Silly me did it......

Money: What bothers me at this point is that I'm going to be 77 in December and I wonder when it is time to stop some of the nonsense. I had a mammogram a few weeks ago, and I am a survivor of breast cancer since 1994. Would I really have cancer treatments again at my age ? All these expensive dental things done ? When is it time to call it done 0h well, I'm just wondering...... I wonder about this too.....The church is constantly wanting more money. I've given what I feel is over and above my financial situation, but it still never seems to be enough. I did finally figure out that the church won't pay my bills and assisted living costs, so I think I'm done paying for theirs.....at some point this constant demands for more and more money need to stop. Sheesh, I'm not in the best mood this morning....maybe another cup of coffee is necessary. BG

My trip to the dentist is going to end up costing me about $15K. I have a bridge that is failing in the center portion and it just went downhill from there. My financial advisor has already been notified that I need money as my escrow account doesn't have the funds to cover it.
Some days I just can't seem to be prepared for what can and will go wrong. At least my car only has 9500 miles on it and the warranty doesn't end until 50k miles. Tires of course, are likely to be another story.

Things have been going well, but a trip to the dentist this afternoon. A regular checkup will likely add a root canal to one that is already attached to a bridge. In just checking, the amount I add to my 'Personal escrow" is $1200/year for dentist work....looks like a good decision this year.

Just a quick info of what has been going on. The VA has played on and off a game called "button button, who has the button." each time it appears al looks good, the color of the button changes.
The last go round was all of us needed to go to the lab and have our blood drawn. The tests were for measles, mumps, rubella & TB. Aww, c'm we're over 75 or more. But being the 7 years of being a volunteer, I went in and had the tests run.
I now have received a letter telling me that one or more of my results were not in the normal range and I need to call this this upcoming Tuesday for follow up testing. I've done some research already and don't like what I've seen, so I will likely call it done and over and will get to my Dr. and the VA can go sit on a stick.
Frankly, I'm about at the end of my rope. I need out of this awful place, I desperately need to get away from the church ladies that have offered more silliness than help, I can sell my house for over twice what we paid for 8 years ago, and I can get myself closer to my brother or good friends both in Florida. If there is a God as some say, he's got a lousy game set up for me and I'd just as soon he leaves me alone....as I seem to be able to deal with some of these problems I'v encountered in the past 8 years without his help (if that's what you can call it.)
My little dog Ginger so far as kept me laughing, she can run at 50 mph even with her harness on, and I swear the expressions on her cute face can't help but make me laugh. Thanks for listening, perhaps another chapter at another time.

With all the spending due to the landscaping of the front & side of the house I'm paid little attention to my spending. I just checked my 3 active credit cards and each one has a $0 balance that should carry until the end of the month.
[I'm certainly happy to see it all done and everything paid.

I hope that having my new dog Ginger is going to help with my depression . After 7 years of living alone with nothing but silence and loneliness I certainly need a boost. The church doesn't help at all and it looks like the VA is kicking most of us to the curb.

A good friend received her $600 a while back.....and then received a checking account deposit of $1400 when those were handed out. Called me lat night to tell me she has now received a letter from the IRS telling her there would be a deposit to her checking account within 7 days for another $1400. Anyone else ? certainly not me.

They has announced in Memphis that it's going to take a long time to get this repaired or rebuilt (whatever they need to do). Regardless, this is going to be a real problem for transportation .

My landscaping is all done and all the bills paid. It looks so good and makes me happy that so many neighbors are walking by telling me how much they like it.
Now that it's early May I can get back to normal living and keep track of my spending.

I cleaned out most of my fridge yesterday and tossed what food wasn't edible. Most of it was in Lock & Lock containers....so washing the containers I did. Today I'm going to organize (once again) the drawer that has the storage containers in it.....this group has clear tops, next up the red Lock & Lock container drawer followed by the green top container drawer.
Needless to say, it would be a good idea for me to stop purchasing Lock & Lock containers from QVC.

My friend and I went nuts yesterday at one of the nurseries......stayed exclusively in the perinniel (sp). I have 2 bird baths and each will have a solar fountains and I cheated a couple days ago by buying some flowers/colors from Hobby Lobby.
My new tree (since I had to remove a maple tree last fall )is called a CrabApple Princess....I thought the name Princess was perfect. It has now been planted. Nothing has died due to the deep freeze weather, and I just can't wait to get some flowers beside the roses blooming.
Tomorrow we go to choose the small rocks for some of the areas that need it, and then the big slabs of granite/etc depending on what I like when I see it.

My landscape job is still under way. It's looking better and better, and overall I'd say it's about 3/4 done. The overall cost so far is way under what I had thought it would be. Today is a sunny warm day, but don't know if he will be back or not, but definitely will be tomorrow.

My garage freezer is beginning to dwindle it's food level. Last night was the last frozen package of modified Olive Garden soup. Tonight will be another bacon wrapped stuffed chicken from QVC and home made potato casserole. I'm gaining on this little by little.

About the only thing I use my checking account for is to pay the cleaning ladies when they come....$142. I use my debit card at Walmart to buy groceries and like Chiv, I withdraw $200 each time and put it into my"safe". I don't use a credit card much as I don't like having to worry about paying the pill when it comes....just in case I've made a mistake. The amount that accumulates in my checking is low right now since I've been spending out of there, but normally I keep $10K or so in there.
No checks are used to pay month bills except the cleaning ladies all the other bills are on auto pay.

OK Ms Rigby: the landscaper hasn't shown up yet....and likely won't for another few weeks....but I have questions. The curve around the front of the house is where the 5 roses are and I want to plant something in from of the roses that isn't that dreadful aztec grass. My neigh gave me quite a bit of hosta but she said it needs to be divided frequently and I'm not one to do it.....what is a good decorative type grass etc. that doesn't need much care and will go well between roses and the stone edging?

I told my neighbor a while back that I was going to get fake plants at Hobby Lobby for the border of the front where the roses are....she about went nuts (even though she doesn't garden either). Today might be my day. Once again the landscape guy hasn't come, and now it's raining and cold again. I don't know what they call this plant here, but in Florida is is called Aztec grass.....whatever it is, if I find it, it's going to get stuck in the front yard and "to hell with it". I may buy some fake day lilies too.

I've had fun having some gardening activity. My 5 knock out roses in the front have survived the cold and wind....and are actually beginning to bloom. The mini knock outs in the side area are also beginning to bloom. The tomatoes in the potted also each have 1 yellow flower.....who knew after all these years I could do this.....

I bought 3 mini knock out roses yesterday and 2 hydrangea to put them in between. I finally got the courage to have a little chat with the landscape guy asking when he was going to be here and do the job. He rather wavered until I told him if he couldn't do it I was able able to have someone else do it......interesting how quickly he said "next week". I hope he remembers what he told me.

The housing prices in NW Arkansas have sky-rocketed. When I had the realtor here last week, my house has gone for $230k for 1750 SF to $350k. If you list your house, be ready to have it sold within 12-24 hours.
Now Ms Rigby: gardening help please. I bought a potted lavender plant at Walmart yesterday.....where should it go? I also want mini-knock out roses in an area that gets half sun/shade. I know hydrangea don't like sun so they would be planted in between mini roses .
BG (lady with a brown thumb)
Another issue: I had my beautiful Sunset maple tree removed due to it's rampant appetite to the roots going straight to the foundation of the house. I have 1 year to replace it. Around the tree are 6 dwarf crepe myrtle that I want the landscaper to remove as they don't do much......any ideas for replacement? I also wanted to put hosts in front of the roses that are in the front of the house...my neighbor hollered don't do it, they have to be divided....but they are so pretty

I have moved completely out of REITS...but that's not to say I still don't have my favorites. I discovered REITS back in the 2000s when the bottom dropped. My favorite is "O" otherwise called Realty Income. It pays an ongoing months dividend and for those who need that extra income, it pays well.
Also good companies that pay are storage REITS....of course my current knowledge of them have dwindled .

I've never had a Firehouse sub, so stopped on the way home. It was really good. We have a new one moving in when finished in a few weeks, look forward to it. Besides it being white close,, it's very good.

Even though Wells Fargo was supposed to get these deposited, mine is no where to be found. The last times I received a check, and our Government is a little weird....I get SS and VA disability and pay taxes, and still don't get anything until they mail me a check.
