I had PT yesterday and I think my therapist was particularly affronted by the fact that a tiny muscle in my butt (which is right underneath the incision from my hip replacement) hasn't come off of vacation yet. I'm thinking that muscle went to Mexico last Feb. and it didn't get hives! So every exercise she had me do targeted that bitch. And now that bitch is letting her presence be known. I can't stand, I can't sit, I can't walk, I freaking CAN'T MOVE!!! Collateral damage is also my quads and hamstrings.....they're not happy either.

Sorry you're having so much pain after your workout - but it will get better (I hope)! Here's something to help with the pain.

Ouch indeed!! Physical therapists definitely know how to find spots like that....and even though it may be for our overall long-term betterment, OUCH!! Hope you're much less ouch-y really soon!

TD needs to rubbing it and making it feel better. Isn't the usual expression to, "Kiss it and make it better?" On the bright side, Mich, it's the perfect excuse to yell, "Hey TD!!! KISS MY ASS!!!" ;D

Butt muscles are some of the most painful. Until I started getting massages, I had no idea how tight those muscles are for me. The massage therapist hit a trigger point in my butt, and I about jumped off the table it hurt so bad.
I desperately need a massage, but I can't seem to fit one in right now.

OK, I can move today. Don't know if it's because I took some of my leftover NSAID last night or if the muscle's finally starting to heal.
Funny enough, the movement of my leg that that particular muscle directs (raising my knee out to the side and touching my foot to the opposite knee - making a figure 4 with my leg) was much easier this morning.
<Note to self, take diclofenac prior to and after next week's PT session.>

<nodding head in agreement w/mich1 about diclofenac>
Glad to hear it's feeling at least some better; PT people can definitely find new ways to make things hurt at times, but it really is for our own good overall. Ask me how I know......after 2 knee replacements!!
My DS1 and his DW are both PT's, BTW. ;D

Ouch! I hear that they're even worse to recover from than hips! Fortunately, my knees are healthy, despite my bum hips. 40+ years of degradation of the hips didn't seem to have an impact on either my back or knees - which makes me incredibly lucky since apparently it's not uncommon as a secondary injury from compensating from bad hips.
My DS1 and his DW are both PT's, BTW.
So you have your own personal Marquis de Sade? Oh joy!

Mich1, now we all know that physical therapist & chiropractors are caring people that want to help you long term. My theory is that short term they have a quota of how many people they can get to pass out from pain. They do that by requesting 1 inch more. If you say that you can move this part of your body to "here", they then move "here" 1 inch further in the wrong direction. If you do that, then it's one inch more. They aren't happy until you can actually sneeze & tie yourself in a pretzel.

Yeah, the 2 knee replacements were an experience that kinda made childbirth look tame--acutally it's only 1 1/2 knee replacements as I had a hardware problem with the first one & 14 months later wound up having 1/2 of the original one replaced. That was 9 years ago and so far, so good. And as for my "personal PT staff", well, they won't work on me--just give me advice from time to time....however, they have produced my beautiful grandson in their spare time ;D Both of them work in rehab hospitals, so they see a lot of post-op joint replacement patients. Mich1, glad to hear that you don't have knee problems; I understand that most people with bad hips like yours do, so you really have been blessed in that! ETA: LOL @ oldtex--"1 more inch"....
