Minority Leader Pelosi told the press in the Bay Area she has no comment about Weiner sex-ting an under age girl in New Jersey. Her office only issued a statement "The Congressional Ethics Committee Will Investigate Congressman Weiner"
But what if Congressman Weiner were a Republican? Would Ms Pelosi be silent? I don't think so!!! And her best bud Senator Boxer would add her two cents because she seems to think she is a beacon for morality, and integrity in congress..
She may be behind the scenes telling her Ethics Committee bud to slow roll the Weiner investigation which could take 1 or 2 years which by then Weiner gate will have blown over and Weiner can by a puppet for Pelosi and Hoyer and push their liberal agenda..IMHO

Her statement certainly does not prove (nor disprove) hypocrisy on the part of Ms Pelosi. It's not a statement of her personal views of the issue, but simply a notice that investigtion will be conducted into these incidents. What any of us thinks about what Ms Pelosi woulddo under different circumstances is nothing more than surmise. Whether Ms Boxer would speak in support of Ms Pelosi concerning these events is also surmise. Our surmise of someone else's future actions does not equal knowlege of said action; therefore, hypocrisy cannot be shown by same. These surmises are only a statement of opinion ... nothing more. It is your opinion that Ms Pelosi is a hypocrite and Ms Boxer a follower. That, we can accept as truth.

How about lacking intellectual honesty?
Hey SF.....How about Polousie doesn't want Weiner to resign because his seat could go to a Republican if she moves to have him expelled which she should do if she were NOT a Hypocrite. And which some in her party are urging her to do......her silence is deafening much like her Bud Boxer when Bill Clinton got caught with his pants down...their silence when a Dem screws up is absurd IMHO
You can call it intellectual dishonesty but I prefer to call it "HYPROCRISY"...

She hasn't been silent. She's announced an investigation into the incidents reported to have occurred, and admitted to by Weiner. Her opinions, at this point, should remain just that with such an investigation looming.

How much time something like that "could take" is, again, speculaltion. It could be over in much less time, or more time. We don't know that.
Personally, I think it should be up to the constituents Weiner serves. I find the man utterly repulsive, but I'm not in his district.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Rep. Steve Israel, the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, have called for an investigation into Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) over the series of sexually explicit conversations and lewd photos he exchanged with a half-dozen women during the last several years. “I am deeply disappointed and saddened about this situation; for Anthony’s wife, Huma, his family, his staff and his constituents,” Pelosi said in a statement released on Monday night. “I am calling for an Ethics Committee investigation to determine whether any official resources were used or any other violation of House rules occurred.” Israel added: “Congressman Anthony Weiner engaged in a deep personal failure and inappropriate behavior that embarrassed himself, his family, and the House. Ultimately, Anthony and his constituents will make a judgment about his future.” Read more: www.politico.com/news/stories/0611/56365.html#ixzz1Oyya1fyPwww.politico.com/news/stories/0611/56365.html

One strange thing about this whole circus is that despite all the outrage ,none of those involved have registered a complaint, one even defended him. I am not defending him,I think he is bat s#$t crazy to think he is going to ride this out, just kind of strange considering all the hubub and outrage.

She may be <gasp> playing politics. Like some on these boards, you give your group the benefit of the doubt and throw the other group under the bus without a thought. And yes, what PI said is true. Both sides do hesitate when they feel they might lose that district or whatever. I'd probably be silent in her case and just say the minimum until the shit storm is over. If you clean up in the middle of a shit storm you might do the wrong thing and be covered in shit cause it hasn't stopped yet. Its far more likely she's trying to manage Weiner and he's not cooperating. Clinton's scandal is probably the reason Hillary didn't get the Dem nomination and because of that we have Obama. If I couldn't get him to step down I'd go for a controlled phase out instead. Figure out when his term is up and start shopping for replacements. She and others have been likely shopping for that person in hopes Weiner will do what others want and step down. The odds of Weiner being effective puppet or no in the future are slim to none. This isn't Europe, in America we treat politicians with sex scandals harsher than those whose policies cost us money or make our lives worse.

So with these few ambiguous words Ms Pelosi washed her hands of Weiner gate and once again as a liberal she kicked the can down the road and hopes this mess will just go away with the passage of time just as the Charley Rangel case did another one of her boys

Good to know you read "Duh Files".....in the NY Times or Washington Times..... my source is the San Francisco Chronicle a Progressive Rag that has turned against Ms Pelosi and blame her for losing the majority rule in the House including Willy Brown their senior political contributing writer.

She's very upset with the situation and feels for his wife on a personal level. She feels the only action she can do and get done effectively is the Ethics Committee investigation. She does not feel at this time she can get Weiner to resign, but she would prefer that.

I am by no means an expert on House Rules but can't Pelosi introduce legislation to expel or sanction Congressman Weiner from the House of representatives or ask him to resign with a ruling by the House Vote??...they did this to congressman Studs a Dem from MA and Congressman Frank D from MA both came close to expulsion but refused to resign and just got a slap on the wrist..after all they were Dems so they get protected or special treatment when they hit on teenagers..I guess?

I was sarcastically stating/implying all congressional investigations take at least a month or more so why should this one be any different? It shouldn't, and it wouldn't. If there is a federal government investigation that took 3 weeks or less please let me know and I'll remember that for next time.

The Omega quadrant is a riff on the Alpha quadrant another poster has listed as their location. The Alpha quadrant I think is mentioned in Star Trek next generation. Using the biblical "I am the Alpha and the Omega", i.e. the beginning and the end, the Alpha quadrant is where one starts and in my view the Omega quadrant is where it ends. Hence my location.

OK Thanx Ma'am FYI back to the OP: Compounding Weiner's problem is that he was not well-liked by many of his colleagues before the scandal broke. But one member who does like him is Rep. Steny Hoyer, the number two House Democrat. A Democratic lawmaker who has spoken to Weiner told CBS' Jill Jackson that Weiner is more likely to listen to Hoyer than to House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, who called for an ethics investigation immediately after Weiner confessed to sending pictures of his bulging boxer shorts on Monday. Hoyer will be on CBS News' "Face the Nation" this Sunday with Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., and if Hoyer calls for Weiner's resignation, the New York congressman can count his time in office in hours. If he says the ethics process should play out, the drama continues. This is exactly why Pelosi isn't going to do this. Its not a slam dunk unless you have the votes plus Weiner already put out signals he will not resign because of the pressure. Why do something if it is highly likely to fail? Whether you like it or not all court cases come down to votes whether it is the judge, the jurors, or in this case elected officials.

I think this is a key point and we could find out more tomorrow with Hoyer being a guest on CBS: Hoyer will be on CBS News' "Face the Nation" this Sunday with Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., and if Hoyer calls for Weiner's resignation, the New York congressman can count his time in office in hours. If he says the ethics process should play out, the drama continues.BTW I was never stationed at the Omega Quadrant while on active status but was at the Iron Triangle, the Valley of Death, Swamp Lagune, & Sand Flea Island, but never travelled in outerspace too much in case you were wondering ..[

The Leadership of the Democratic Party has asked for Weiner to resign....however Weiner's office issued a statement that said NO to resigning and Yes to seeking help ...so deal with it and let the Dems implode over Wienergate....or impeach him

The only job Pelosi is interested in saving is Anthony Weiner's because her call for him to resign is a farce...IMHO...He will NOT resign and cannot be forced to resign if he didn't commit a crime or violate the laws of the House of Representative..being a pervert and a liar is no biggie in our Congress but is in Canada or Great Britain but our reps get a pass ..
