The world is catching up. America no longer builds the biggest OR the best.
Henry Ford made it possible to put parts together from widely scattered shops and shipped cross country to be assembled on a moving track and end up with a finished product.
Thomas Edison made it possible to work after dark. The proof of one of his products was when farmers put lights on their tractors.
Alexander Graham Bell made it possible to communicate in real time over long distances.
These and other American inovations made the United States the leader of the industrial world, , , and international copyright protections made it possible to take those things and expand on them so that life in America has become a plateau. We are basking in what was handed to us by the imaginations of great thinkers in the past.
But the world has caught up. The copyright protections are dead. Some even saying the world is passing us by to some extent. All seem agree that the future will be one of accommodating ourselves to circumstances rather than by making the circumstances.
Is it time for the country to think about a voluntarily more simple life style, , , rather than having it imposed on us by others.
Here is a 7 minute video that makes the point. The speaker may tempt you to take a nap while he presents his case, but you will do so at your peril. Whether you agree with him or not, he is telling it like it is:

Do you mean patents? Patents are only good for 17 years after the date the application is filed, provided that the maintenance fees are paid in years 3, 7 and 11. Very, very expensive to file patent applications, particular global ones.

Chris Hedges is right on. www.truthdig.com/report/category/hedges/Add what he says to what Griffin writes in THE CREATURE FROM JEKYLL ISLAND and you're in for a very depressing vision. For someone who does not believe in God and the Bible this view of reality is devastating. No goodness at all.
