money.cnn.com/2011/06/07/news/companies/gm_gas_tax_hike/index.htm?iid=HP_LNYet another reason to not buy from Government Motors. Seriously, wth does he think he is? The government is supposed to control us and dictate what cars we can or can not drive?!?!?! Assuming he means increasing the federal tax, he would more than QUINTUPLE the current federal tax from 18 cents/gallon to a dollar! All because he thinks that he and Big Daddy Government know better than you what to drive! Let him and the rest of GM know what you think of that by avoiding their cars!

Yeah- and that along with massive subsidies is the only shot they've got at selling their electric pieces of sh**.

This lunatic must seek advice from Obama's brilliant advisers. There's a certain otherworldly tone deafness. . . a certain blindness to reality. . . a certain nudginess. . .

Aw, but if Bush has bailed out GM - he would be a saint.
There's something wrong with the "color" of this picture...

There's something wrong with the "color" of this picture... This is the second post I've read in the last 15 minutes where the left is referencing Bush. Are you all relapsing back to the blame Bush game again? Believe it or not, most people believe government should not be picking winners and losers in privately owned business. This remains true no matter what letter the POTUS has after his name. The fact that some of you can't see this is what's really wrong with this picture.

How big is the tax credit to buy an Ipod or ipad? I think it is zero, and yet somehow they are successful, maybe it is because people want to buy them, such a novel idea.

And is a good way to keep constituents at each other's throats all the while both parties are responsible for the state this country is in. The banks, big business, insurance companies, and their respective lobbyists determine what happens in this country. It is about money and power, and we all know that some will do absolutely anything in the pursuit of both. Howevr, it seems preferable to blame left/right, conservative/liberal, republication/democrat, teaparty/independent ... it is all a bunch of bull and a good way to keep people from taking action ... too much arguing and blaming going on to do much else.

Hasn't this been a recent problem with all American automakers, they can really only make 'big ole' vehicles profitably in the US.

And is a good way to keep constituents at each other's throats all the while both parties are responsible for the state this country is in. Divide and conquer. POTUS Obama is continuing nearly everything POTUS BUSH did. Most of the left only bitch about Bush doing these things and most of the right only bitch about POTUS Obama doing these things. R and D...6 of one, half dozen of the other. Too many people are stuck on stupid these days and fail to realize we're continuing the slow decline no matter which party is in charge.

yep!.....2029 volts sold so far (8 months).........and that is with a $7500 credit to buy them.........yep........another gov't great idea.
at this pace, we should be into gm a few trillion dollars, buy the new year. geeessssh
also......everyone is forgetting that we gave gmac another 13 billion, that have been written off the books.......so we are at a total loss on this gm deal to about 40 billion and that is if we can sell our shares at the ipo price, at which gm is now trading at about 1/2 that today.

I'm confused why everyone is so upset. The guy merely said that a gas tax hike would help the economy more than fuel economy regs & would make it easier on his company.
The guy speaks the truth.

You gotta be stuck on stupid if you think adding a dollar to the price of a gallon of gasoline will 'help' the economy.

A gas tax hike would help the environment more than the fuel economy regs & make it easier on his company.

Stuck on stupid? How can you say that? I think his main concern are the regs, this being the operative part of the comment----"more than fuel economy regs & would make it easier on his company"---Him not wanting fuel economy regs is stuck on stupid?.

Today's secret password is "if."
[pbp's picture]
Ever notice how Conservatives love to whip out the victim card? Wah! They're blaming Bush again! (uh, no) Wah! They're calling us racist again! (uh, no again, and also, playing the race card, eh?)
And remember Conservative's rule of hypocrisy #318:
Referencing Bush = BAD! Referencing an even earlier democratic president = GOOD!
Oh, and I'd be bored too if I obsessed over someone that much.

I, however, believe that all these labels, when we collectively are dissatisifed with government continues to be in the business of politicking instead of getting things done for the betterment of all (even though invariably it won't please all), are effectively pitting all Americans against each other, by economic class, political affiliation, what have you. Whatever policy is made affects everyone and not just the political party one is affiliated with. This party bickering back and forth is counterproductive ... It makes for good entertainment and give people something to talk about, but DOES NOT ACCOMPLISH A THING.

my question is..........how is electric energy supposed to be clean energy? the last i saw, was that most electric energy comes from eclectic power plants that burn coal to produce that electricity.
even if we convert all power plants to nukes, we still don't have the disposal and storage issues solved, so even nukes aren't really 'clean' energy.

Not really. But, I have noticed that you never have any substance to add to the conversation. Thanks for your usual nothingness kitty. You never fail to disappoint. No surprise there....really.

A spokesman for the Internal Revenue Service declined to comment beyond pointing to the language of the tax code passed by Congress to help promote the sale of battery vehicles. According to Title 26 Section 30D, a vehicle qualifies for the credit when:
(a) The original use (of the vehicle) "commences with the taxpayer," or (b) The vehicle "is acquired for use or lease by the taxpayer and not for resale."
That would suggest the Glendale dealer would have to lease out the vehicles rather than sell them to qualify for the tax credit.
Peterson said GM “strongly discourages" dealers from the pocketing the tax credit on battery cars but added, “There’s nothing we can do. They’re independent franchisees.”

any gov't program, bleeds a lot more money than it generates, but how else does a politician make the money he/she feels they deserve, doing the work of the people, as if they are gods to mankind.
