Just one man's opinion but I don't think Sarah Palin wants to run for President....Why would she want to be lambasted ad nauseum by the liberal media and all the liberal pundits and put her family through so much agony?? It is just not worth it to her and I doubt she would be able to function properly with so much criticism...
Hey but what do I know since I thought maybe Obama would do some good things in office since he appeared to be a very smart and able senator.....which goes to show that appearances can be deceiving I guess.

Fox News has suspended its contributor arrangements with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, both of who have signaled possible runs for the [presidency]. The suspension is effective for 60 days. Then, on May 1st, their contracts will be terminated unless they notify Fox that they are not running for president. Not Huckabee. Not Palin.

I don't know why Sarah would want to run, either, but she has certainly become a big name in politics, and she is making money hand over fist. One thing no one can question about Sarah is her patriotism. Obama ended up surrounding himself with the same type of people in office as before he was in office, which is THE reason I didn't even consider him in '08. If Sarah was to get elected and do the same, we could do a heck of a lot worse..... Obama PROVED to us all that people stay true to form, and I would take Sarah's view of the USA over Obama's any day. IMO the effectiveness of a POTUS depends on who they surround themselves with and Sarah would not have looney tunes radicals around her like Obama has. She is what she is, and can be traced to birth and beyond in her roots-- more than can be said about Obama. I'm still trying to figure out who in the hell Obama is...

Huck is not running, and Sarah is undeclared. She could be just taking her show on the road. She will be a powerful backer for someone should she NOT run.

Huck is not running, and Sarah is undeclared. She could be just taking her show on the road. She will be a powerful backer for someone should she NOT run. Here's one scenario that might play out........Michelle Backman will announce her candidacy for President next month in Iowa and the Tea Party along with Sarah Palin will be her key backers. that way Palin will be involved but not have to be under so much scrutiny since she is not running but merely a Queen Maker for Backman..

[ quote author=snerdley board=politics thread=8960 post=358929 time=1306596867]I honestly don't know why anyone would even want to run for such offices. I guess the only reason would be to have a strong desire to change things or the lust of power. I don't understand the power thing though. I would rather be anonymous sitting on the beach being left alone than in the spotlight. I really don't understand why people seek power.
That question was posed to Ron Paul last week on Fox News by Chris Wallace and Ron Paul said he was running to draw attention to the issues he believes in i.e dumping the Federal Reserve and bringing all of our troops home from overseas, and etc and etc.. So these guys or gals run just to be in the spotlight to push their agendas even though they know the chances of becoming president are (1) Slim and (2) None and Slim just left town a few days ago..

I think someone could probably argue that the candidates she put herself in heaviest in the midterms did not do so well. Except for McCain, that is.O'donnel,Angle,[Reid should have been a pushover] Miller in Alaska, that guy that used to sell ways to get free money from the government, what was his name?.......all lost.

But Sarah keeps gaining steam. She is a much better speaker now, also. More professional, but still Sarah. I have to admit-- I liked this video. Very many people want what she promotes-- American values, family, love of country. It's effective.

Well if she does indeed decide to run it will be interesting to say the least and who knows what will happen? But with her low poll numbers she will probably not run but again what do I know?? I voted for McCain/Palin and I am a Democrat so go figure...or probably someone who is NOT that poltically astute to say the least..

I guess I need to pay attention to Bachmann. I admit that I do not follow her. I'm still stuck on Cain for the moment. Who is leading now, Romney?

The Republican field is growing but there is nobody who is really catching fire just yet with the public. Most folks are just not that interested would be my guess with so many other things going on i.e the Red Sox are in first place in the AL East and the Boston Bruins have a good shot at winning the Stanley Cup if they can play well against Vancouver....those are my priorities and not the Republicans or Obama in case you were wondering Ma'am...

LOL!! Yes, it is still early to be picking. Repubs are trying to get ahead of the Obama money machine.. won't do them much good if they run out of money and Obama does the last month extravaganza media blitz, though.

Seems to me that Romney always has about the same percentage of Republican primary voter support. When the field is large, that percentage looks good. When the group grows smaller and that percentage doesn't grow, he fades into the background.

I'm sick and tired of watching D.C. pass laws that suck... so taking one for the team, falling on the landmine, jumping in front of the bus, pick-your-sacrificial-lamb-story, makes sense to me and to many others... I dare say to "poli-celebs" like Sarah, too...

This is not an anti-Palin thread. GO, SARAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL ;D Many liberals think Sarah Palin is a goddess. She is a powerful representation of values they despise. This guy explains it well. Which brings me to why Sarah Palin is a goddess. By that I don’t mean she has actual godlike powers. I’m talking about her role in the rightie mythological cosmos, and why pointing out her obvious shortcomings will put no dents in the tea partiers’ loyalty to her.By “goddess” I mean a goddess in something like (but not exactly) the tantric sense, in which a deity becomes an archetype for one’s own deepest nature. Palin, by contrast, is a near-perfect embodiment of an ideal. She is (to a rightie) beautiful, sexual, and maternal; she is powerful enough that the Evil Ones who live in Washington and who speak seditious things on the Teevee must kowtow to her. Through her folksy speech and shooting skills she evokes other American archetypes from more wholesome, earlier times, like Daniel Boone. But she also wears modern clothes and has a Facebook page.
Like most tantric deities, Palin has has both benevolent and wrathful aspects. As a wrathful goddess she gives voice to her followers’ deepest fears and hates and resentments. But she also has a bright smile and sometimes carries a baby, showing a benevolent side. Her followers both love her and identify with her; she is an archetype representing their own deepest selves, or at least the selves they’d like to be.
She’s a goddess, I tell you. And because she is a goddess is makes no difference to her devotees that she has few real accomplishments, no coherent ideas, and probably doesn’t know Bern from Budapest. It does not matter if she writes crib notes on her hand and needs several months to think of a name of a newspaper she actually reads. In fact, it does not matter to them if she reads at all. Whatever she does is exactly right, because it is her doing it, and she is a goddess.
It’s important to understand this, because it shows us why it’s futile to treat Palin as just another politician or media star. It was pointless to make fun of the crib notes, for example. I doubt anyone could bring Palin down but Palin herself. If she somehow grossly and blatantly violated the ideal she represents, her followers could turn on her. But until she does that, she is invincible in the eyes of the devoted.
Oh and tea party objectors to ever expanding big bro govt. are lost sheep too. Who worship the goddess blindly. Hilarious article. ;D www.mahablog.com/2010/02/16/why-sarah-palin-is-a-goddess/

I like Sarah because liberals HATE her. She has my vote for no other reason. Might want to be careful with that one. That type thinking is a major reason I finally decided to vote for the current president.

"Many liberals think Sarah Palin is a goddess. She is a powerful representation of values they despise."
You have not a clue what liberals think, since you are too busy telling them what they think instead of asking them what they think.
Values? seriously? LOL and snicker!

This is a strong argument for the suspension of voting rights in this country. Perhaps if more people actually voted with some sort of goal in mind for this nation instead of voting for a candidate just to spite the opposition, things around here would improve just a bit.
Oh, and Marshabar:
I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry when I see you, as per usual, telling everyone what liberals think or what values they despise. However, one seemingly conservative value that I do genuinely despise is conservatives putting words into our mouths. We are quite adept at speaking for ourselves, thank you very much.
What makes me laugh is that conservatives gain their information about what liberals think from ... wait for it ... other conservatives! They play this little game of hackey-sack with each other, kicking around "liberal thoughts" as if they're the experts. The only trouble is: Liberals aren't allowed to play.
What makes me cry is that this kind of system actually makes sense to them, and they swear by it.

chicagoagainstobama.wordpress.com/2008/10/31/hope-obama-will-pay-my-mortgage-and-pay-for-my-gas/obamagrantmoney.com/And yet you see nothing wrong with a liberal view that Obama was going to take care of everyone, hope and change. Obama money, Obama is going to pay my mortgage and gas, Obama is going to take care of us. You seem to think that it's okay to suppress one side yet refuse to deal with the fringe of your own party. Open your eyes and see that the games are played on both sides. One side says "I will vote for anyone who is not you" the other says "I will vote for who is going to provide me more because I can't provide for myself at a level I want" those of us who ride somewhere in the middle say "I am looking for a strong leader who understands that where we are we can't stay, there is going to be pain sure, but after the pain prosperity comes." When you can remove the D and R from your voting and see who is the best candidate for doing what they are supposed to do which is lead, not divide/degrade/disparage the other side simply because they have a different opinion than your side, our political process just might come back to what it was, by/for/of the people not (D) a process that keeps taking money from big business while vilifying them or (R) who continues the status quo of breaks for big guys while expanding the size and overreach of government. What needs to happen is to truly open discussion and stop all the Bull***t fear-mongering that comes from both sides, whether it's death-panels in Obamacare or Grandma getting pushed off a cliff over medicare. Perhaps one day (and I hope it is soon) adults can do the job that we the American people send them to Congress to do and get over this fear of change (change here is losing there cushy non jobs) and put the people of America first and folks thats all people not (D) downtrodden illegal/legal/lazy government is going to take care of me crowd or (R) Military Industrial Complex, Big Business Tax Breaks.

news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110529/ap_on_el_ge/us_palinPalin kick-starts bus tour on back of motorcycle By PHILIP ELLIOTT, Associated Press – 6 mins ago WASHINGTON – Sarah Palin rumbled through Washington on the back of a Harley as she and her family began an East Coast tour Sunday, renewing speculation that the former Alaska governor would join the still unsettled Republican presidential contest. Wearing a black leather jacket and surrounded by a throng of cheering fans, Palin and family members jumped on bikes and joined thousands of other motorcyclists on the Memorial Day weekend ride from the Pentagon to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Palin didn't mention politics as she visited with participants, but she smiled broadly when many in the crowd urged her to run. When one man asked her if she was running, she smiled and answered, "Don't know." Palin remains one of the biggest questions for Republicans, who have not yet settled on a frontrunner to challenge President Barack Obama's re-election. While many of Palin's likely rivals have worked to build campaign organizations in early nominating states such as Iowa or New Hampshire, Palin has taken no concrete steps to begin a presidential campaign. Given Palin's star power, she might be able to wait longer than others. But the clock is ticking, the establishment isn't happy with its options and one of the earliest tests of campaign infrastructure, the straw poll in Ames, Iowa, is scheduled for August. Palin showed no hints she would join the field on Sunday although she again demonstrated her ability to build excitement and practice the person-to-person, retail politics that she clearly loves. In heels and black flair slacks, Palin shook hands and posed for pictures with well-wishers. "How do you wear all this leather and stay cool?" she asked one woman. Palin asked others to show off their tattoos as she took off her own leather jacket and worked her way through a crush of fans, photographers and reporters. Just before she, husband Todd and daughter Bristol rolled from the Pentagon's parking lot, she gave a thumbs-up to a military police officer who asked if he could snap a picture while taking a break from directing traffic. On the windshield of Palin's bike: a likeness of President George W. Bush. Next to it, the words "Miss Me?" And on her hand, the words "justice rolls" were written in smeared ink. It was an apparent reference to Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, which is quoted on Palin's website: "We will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream." Palin didn't take questions from reporters and, in keeping her social media strategy, offered her thoughts on her political website. "There's no better way to see D.C. than on the back of a Harley!" Palin wrote. "My family may be used to snowmachines more so than motorcycles." MORE....
