Obama, in Europe, signs Patriot Act extensionIt was so good the first time, Obama, wanted it for another five years. Funny how he was out of country, when he signed it. Thought it would be a good photo op for him. Or.........his liberal handlers are learning they no longer control him and he marches to his own drummer, and did not want political backlash all over the papers, chastising him for the extension, and he left the country to sign the law. Rumor has it, the extension was assured due to the assassination of Osama Bin Laden.

I am just amazed at how the far left has laid down like a lamb on this issue. They could not stop it from becoming law, with Bush in charge, but the argument was front page for a year. Now they have the Presidency in their pocket, and not a peep.
Can we say, hypocrosy?

As a "member" of that far left, I have to agree with you that those with the capability of putting it on the front page have been disappointingly quiet on this. Do not take that as a sign that all are happy about this.

I am surprised that there wasn't more debate and discussion about whether or not a multi-year extension was needed.

"On January 20th, 2009, if George Bush and Dick Cheney are not appropriately held to account this Administration will hand off a toolbox with more powers than any President has ever had, more powers than the founders could have imagined. And that box may be handed to Hillary Clinton or it may be handed to Mitt Romney or Barack Obama or someone else. But whoever gets it, one of the things we know about power is that people don't give away the tools." — John Nichols www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/07132007/profile.html

Funny thing is Barry "signed" by Auto Pen, so that would tend to make the re-passing of the act invalid, since auto pen is a signature facsimile and not an actual signature. Can't wait for the first person prosecuted, who has a good lawyer.

Don't forget Obama was against the Patriot Act when he campaigned for president and he lambasted Bush and Cheney for defending it. Now he signs an extension of the Patriot Act which is another indication how phony Obama really is..IMHO
Or Obama will say of do anything just to get elected but some of his rhetoric may come back to haunt him...

One way of looking at it, another is when these folks take that seat , assume that position, and understand all the ramifications and the threats , in this case, they realize they were mistaken in their past beliefs and if strong in their feelings about themselves, who they are, have no problem admitting their mistakes for what ever reason, lack of all the facts or new information being presented to them, and change their mind, knowing a change of mind or direction is not a show of weakness, just showing intelligent decision making. For me, I like the idea of a POTUS "showing intelligent decision making." I had enough of the other way of not making changes, especially when it was shown that they were wrong, but to stubborn or lacking of self confidence in them selves to make changes. IMHO.

Why didn't liberals give Bush the respect they have for Obama about the Patriot Act is the question.......... Not sure of your post, accusation, "Why didn't liberals give Bush the respect ", this middle to the left , and many feel that is considered a "liberal " by most, was in favor of that act, and I know most of my "Liberal to the left " fellows that I associate with, few cons, sorry, where I live , so while aware of their views , personal contact lately, not much, were also in favor of it, the Bill. I am wondering if your tendency of always placing " lib/ con " on almost all your posts isn't a bit off here. Since the cons , as I pointed out once before, are the ones so concerned with "rights taken illegally", "the upholding of the Constitution, Bill of Rights " , almost on the level of the Bible in importance for many , and even higher in importance by some, that there may have been more of them, even the majority who were against this bill, IMHO. Possible , since you actually feel the need to pick one group as being the one who objected the most, with out any proof , just your beliefs of, you might be picking the wrong ones to so accuse, and a response along the lines of , "every one knows that the libs feel this way ' or something similar, just won't cut it. IMHO.

Why didn't liberals give Bush the respect they have for Obama about the Patriot Act is the question.......... Probably because Liberals will never admit they were wrong and that they are wrong to support Obama's foreign or domestic policies which are all a disaster. Obama can't even toast the Queen of England properly with the respect and decorum required and I wonder if he will honor our fallen this weekend at Arlington Cemetary or be too busy playing basketball or out playing golf..

It IS interesting, PI, because many of us that supported it when Bush did it have now changed our minds about it over time, but WHERE are the Obama people that are freaking out over this? I've looked on a few boards, and I can't find them. SO few will say one bad word about Obama. Very strange.

Tread lightly, Dezi. Watch your words carefully when you address me or others with your preachy, better than thee attitude. I'm tired of being "spoken to" by moon like I am a bad guy when I overlook so many things-- many from you. Just a friendly warning. There ARE people I just will not talk to directly, because they irritate me so much, and I CHOOSE to not put myself in a place to get in trouble.

Krickitt sometimes a few days off from these boards is a good thing...I didn't miss any of the small and petty squabbles when I took four or five weeks off...but got a bunch of PMs wondering if I had been permanently banned and for what??... I think there was a rumor floating around that I had objected again to you being bullied and was give a few weeks of unpaid leave...dont know how that started but to the best of my knowledge that didn't happen..I am still wading through all the PMs and some of them are hilarious...to say the least

LOL, PI!! I have been posting elsewhere myself. It's totally different, although the same divisions, disagreements, etc. They just keep it political. This is my fav board, though. I like the format, lots of people here, and even some I am polar opposites of I enjoy talking to. I hope things will work out here. All it needs is tweaking. More politics and ideas, less personal pokes, and it will be fine. PLUS-- we badly need more posters here.. Go get some....

I think politics is not that interesting to most people who have probably had it with poltics as usual and who wants to have someone make some stupid comment after each and every post you make here?? I know I am getting really tired of it as you probably can observe.

You post a lot and you have your thoughts and thus here, P@M, expect to get back answers and questions regarding your ideas on your posts and if your having a problem with my response to your post that I answered above, then do what ever you want regarding it. Personally I would like to see a response to what I posted, I believe they are right on and if you have a problem with them, just say what they are, not veiled threats that hold no water, just seem to be more yadda , yadda. What ever interaction with moon you have , that is between you and she and doesn't concern me..I have ideas on them, when the back and forth is public, but you wouldn't appreciate hearing them so will remain silent on them.

I give Obama just as much disrepect as Bush. And it was passed through the House and Senate, so let's give Congress the disrepect they deserve too.
The real question is, where did you get such an assertion Krickett? Maybe if you pull things out of your ass before you type, you should keep such things to yourself. You don't seem to enjoy it when people have those "Conservatives think.." sort of deals, so why do it?
Was it around the end of January 2009 perchance?
Why should we? Could you find some better meme to use? Expecting people to freak out over such things is rather silly.
That's a few more of Conservatives that said a bad word about Bush. And the fact that it's a lot rarer for Conservatives to say a good word of Obama shows their hypocrisy on the matter.
Lol, for someone who, atop her po' boy high horse, looks down at liberals with "liberals think" insults, you sure don't have any room to talk. You talk down about liberals en masse (because people have figured out as long as you don't insult people personally, you can make up whatever you want) with unsubstantiated self-declared statements, then when people get upset with you, you play the victim and act bewildered why people would do such a thing, while not enjoying it happen to you, which is far less often. So instead of hypocritically preachily telling others to tread lightly, why don't you look in the mirror?
When I find a catch-phrase laden meme to cancel yours out, I'll let you know. For know, you'll have to settle with "nuh-uh."
File under: sour grape oh-noezery. I bet you buy your milk of magnesia in bulk.

So, Kitty-- do you have a comment on the topic, or just the posters responding to it? Aside from saying I pull things out of my ass and other fun things to your fellow posters-- what do you think about the topic?
I have been friends with Dez for awhile, so offered him a friendly warning that I will no longer take any crap. You-- I do not know at all.
IF you get ready to address the topic, let us know.

When Obama became President, people urged me to give him a chance and my respect. My response: "I'll give Obama the same amount of respect and open mindedness that the Democrats gave Bush when he was elected."
To be honest, that is being generous: at least with Bush, I knew he was an American.

Kennedy, Clinton, Harry, FDR...his old man during the Gulf War, I thought brilliant, so that's some respect believe me and to me some exhalted company, granted my feelings but can only speak of myself. Did you ever in almost three years give anything of the sort, say any to the current POTUS? I will doubt it.
