My kids never wrecked anything that I can think of. Not even any writing on the walls. Of course, I can't get my youngest to write AT ALL, so maybe writing on the walls as a toddler would have been preferable?

I am always relieved that mine weren't the type to get into stuff. Very cautious, rule followers by default. They may not end up being CEO's but it did make the toddler years easier. All the CEO’s I know are less than a half step from sociopathy. So, not being a CEO seems good.

Pants Hi! Not sure whether it's a good thing you came down during our "cold snap" or not. Glad the weekend will be warmer.

Abby: Can I have a spoon?
Me: Why?
Abby: So I can crush my chips and eat them.
Yes because that makes total sense.

K's made to the 3rd and final round of tryouts for 6th-7th grade vball! They're down to 19 kids for 12-13 slots. Next/last round is Tuesday. If she's cut, she'll be on C's team. The coach and the Sport Director are holding on to her registration until we find out.
C is on the 4th-6th grade team and seems to be enjoying himself. I think it helps that there are other boys from 4th grade on his team. He's not bad either. He's got the power to get serves, bumps and volleys over the net. Control is the issue but that will come.
Edited to fix error. It's 19 kids left, not 109.

Don't know about other girls on here but if your kid is obsessed with Cookie Swirl C on YouTube like Abby is I just found Cookie Swirl C Barbie at Walmart.
Buying it now Abby's head will explode on Christmas.

Sounds like she’ll love it, drama!!
I have second child problems trying to come up with gifts for M this year. She is 3 and needs nothing and isn’t really into anything. She likes Minnie Mouse, so I threw that tidbit out to my SIL. She already has a Minnie Mouse costume and stuffed animal, so I don’t necessarily want to add stuff to that just because it’s Minnie. We have Little People, Duplos, and MagnaTiles, all of which she plays with, plus basement toys like a tricycle, balance bike, WheelyBug, and Plasma Car. She’ll get a few new books, and probably swimming goggles for swim lessons as she likes to wear the swim lesson place ones usually. I have a small set of colored pencils for her stocking. We are going to put the full size bed that was in C’s room in her room, so maybe Minnie sheets for that?
For reference, C is getting several Jurassic World and Star Wars Lego sets, plus a few books. I don’t care about spending equal dollar amounts at their current ages, but want to find something fun for her. I may try to take her to the local Fay Brain Toy Store this weekend to see if anything strikes her fancy.

I've been having problems with Abby. We got big ticket type stuff for Gwen so Abby inherited it all so there is not much to buy her. I decided to give in to her request for a new Barbie house. We've more than gotten our money out of the old one and I think Abby would enjoy having something that is exclusively hers. This one is smaller and WAY cheaper. This one collapses so Abby can carry it all over the house. I think she will like it better than the giant one that has to stay in one place. Bonus is by buying the smaller more affordable house Barbie can install a pool.

E got a nice baby stroller at that age that she still plays with. She was 3 or 4 when we got the kids (but mostly E) an easel and the other year we got her a melissa and doug ice cream cart that is just starting to wind down in popularity But is still used when she has friends over.

Weather forecast is looking like shit for E's birthday party. The hair dresser is in the mountains and if it was just that she couldn't make it, sad but salvageable but they're talking like they won't be able to plow the roads due to snow and wind. I'm not driving a half dozen kids to a movie in that. We're not trying for a real life Frozen adventure to mark this year.

I've been having trouble coming up with stuff for my almost 2 year old. I'm thinking rainbow/cloud/unicorn sheets, doll stroller and maybe a knock off American girl doll for her to dress. DS is so easy to shop for now it's more of a matter of how much do we want to get. I gave him a Lakeshore catalog to look at and he circled at least a dozen things. I'm leaning towards fort building frame, globe, 3d anatomy puzzle, and more magna tiles.

cktc, she may still be too young for an AG doll to dress. M got a Target Our Generation doll last Christmas from my cousin, and at 2y4m, she couldn’t dress/undress her without major help (in fairness, it was the scientist doll so some more complicated accessories). My MIL got her one for her 3rd birthday and she can mostly do it now, especially the dress that my MIL made for it (she also made M a matching dress, which is super cute).

She likes to dress and undress herself, but her clothes are probably easier.

We did family photos yesterday with my side of the family and I don't think I have ever been so upset with C. I told him that we'll probably do pictures with dh's side after nephew arrives and that I wasn't sure I even wanted him in them. I embrace the snark 99% of the time and really try to roll with it, but you can't give me 30 minutes when I have discussed expectations repeatedly? I thought I was over it, but I'm still fuming this morning and I feel like when I get the pictures it is going to come back that much more.

I ducked out of the room when C started asking and left DH to deal with it. I think it was more confirmation than anything else.

She also got a doll diaper bag for her birthday that has plastic bottles that look like power, lotion, cream etc. There were also some plastic baby bottles. She spends hours playing with that stuff. She solved the doll dressing issue herself. The clothes came off the doll on day 1 and haven't been put back on since.

Mini rant. Gwen got an emergency care package in sex ed today. It contained two pads. Two SCENTED pads.
Shame on people who teach hygiene putting those in there. Cue Gwen receiving a long rant about never using smelly products down there and how it's all a conspiracy to make women ashamed of their bodies.
Poor Gwen now regrets taking sex ed.😂
Actually it was a pretty informative talk. I told her for all her eagerness to get her period now she'll spend the rest of her life wishing it would go.away

Thinking to break my own rules about toys while trying to come up with christmas gifts for nephew, 2.5. His little brother will be arriving early December. He's high energy and a mama's boy so some fun distractions could be helpful for everyone. We're giving them our play kitchen. Thinking about a toddler trampoline or a ridiculously expensive handbell toy. I've been looking at the Prodigies Deskbells to go with the PSP videos on YouTube, but they are $50 a set and I know the kids won't share. The play kitchen is a great gift, I'd say you are good. Is it a pay subscription for those desk bells on you tube?

So Gwen floored me and asked me what I thought the "right" age to have sex was. I told her I didn't have sex in high school because I didn't want to get pregnant and that there was never a boy I felt I wouldn't regret having sex with at that time. I wanted to have my life in somewhat of a decent order because birth control is not infallable and even those small odds for me were not acceptable in high school.
I told her I've only had sex with daddy and it just so happened that I ended up marrying him but certainly don't demand that she do the same.
I said whenever you decide to do it do it with someone worthy of you. Do it with someone who values your life and his life enough and is responsible enough to use a condom regularly. Do it with someone who respects your boundaries. Do it with someone who doesn't always put his needs before your own. You want an attentive thoughtful considerate lover, which let's be honest a lot of teenage boys are not going to be.
When she does decide to it I told her PLEASE come to me first. I will make sure she gets on birth control and has a Sam's Club size box of condoms. Would we prefer she wait? Yes. Do I think she is going to go, IDK. So don't leave us in the dark when you do decide you are ready.
I may be a disorganized mess in other areas regarding being a mom but I feel like I am knocking the sex talk out of the park at least.

Is it a pay subscription for those desk bells on you tube? The videos on YouTube are free, and I've seen bells and workbooks on Amazon. There is a paid program which has more videos and resources available and different membership levels and bundles. It might be the better way to go. I know my kids like the YouTube videos, but they are still kind of young. prodigiesmusic.com/shop/
