Drama, hopefully you will get your money back soon, I have made similar mistakes and gotten them back, especially when they are still pending. I have also paid bills from wrong account which resulted in overdraft charges (all when I had plenty of money to pay the bill).

I hope it all works out, NomoreDramaQ1015. I've really stupidly deposited money into an account from the same account, instead of the other account I was trying to move money out of. That caused a bounce plus, of course, the money didn't move. Ugh. It's the nature of the Beast.

Holy F*(& * and words stronger than that that haven't been invented yet. I screwed up BAD. I apparently put in a few extra zeros to my Discover payment and paid $5k instead of $50.00. That completely froze our accounts because we obviously do not have that kind of cash lying around and all our bills are stuck. I called UsBank in a panic, since it is still pending (fortunately) they are doing a stop payment and if it works I should see our money back tomorrow. If not I am going to have to wait 13 days for Discover to mail me a check. That's going to mean borrowing money from DH's parents because otherwise we'll be unable to pay our bills. Ugh. I cannot believe I was that sloppy. I did that once. Paid $7500 instead of $750. It was Panic City for a while but was worked out in just a day, thank all that is holy. I never did figure out how I could have submitted it, checked the amount, approved the amount, and confirmed it. Didn't owe $7500, $750 was the balance in full. Duh. You're not alone.

Drama I hope it works out ASAP too! But if it doesn't work out ASAP, is there ANYWHERE you can borrow that money besides your in-laws?
Given the situation with your DH, it would be better if you could avoid being bailed out by them.
Hope you don't mind me saying this.
All the best to you.

To be clear, I don't want YOU to pay for ONE stupid mistake for the rest of your life (in your in-laws' eyes) while their son has been making a ton of those mistakes, for years, while you clean up after him. Not fair.

Just got back from conferences. Both kids are doing really well. YDS is way ahead of the rest of the class. If he had better coping skills, I'd really be pushing for him to skip to 2nd grade.

Not fair. Oh no they understand. FIL said he's made dumb mistakes like this too over the years. If push comes to shove they'll cover what Bill's are due in between now and the refund and then I'll cut them a check to pay them back. I much prefer the stop payment works for simplicity sake.

The kids have been so sweet. C has been all over helping me from bringing me things to getting the door, and doing his own laundry without complaining. They both made me cards. It's eye opening to realize how much they're capable of that I would normally just do for them. Dh has so far redeemed himself from my last back injury. I'm not sure he can keep it up for much longer, but it is nice to feel like if I died he'd figure it out.

NomoreDramaQ1015 it was a long time about, maybe 15-20 years. Maybe their site wasn't that sophisticated at the time? I dunno, but when I discovered what happened, my account was showing a big credit. Gotta wonder how long it would have taken to use it up.

The stop payment worked. Whew. Now I have to wait for the letter to come from the bank. They did an open ended stop gap so I have to send the letter back before I can make payments again to Discover.

We had C's conference last night. He's doing fine in math. His math STAR 360 testing from Sept. shows him at end of 4th grade level. His recent tests in class, not so much. But his teacher isn't worrying about the math.
Science may be a worry - there was only 1 test to include in the grading and he did poorly on it - as did about 1/2 of the class. It was open book, open notes so the teacher doesn't get why so many did so bad on it. He's allowing a retest so we're working with C on that. Topic is earthquakes and volcanos, which is the topic K just finished up on. I was going to make her work with him, since his is in German but that doesn't seem fair to either of them. And C wants me anyway. I did remind him that the goal isn't to be the first one done with tests and assignments - it's to be the best. He got a wicked grin on his face about that.
Reading is definitely a worry. He's actually going backwards on the Star 360 testing for reading. He's on the monthly testing/evaluation now. I'm good with that because it lets me see if we get acceptable improvement on our own or need to figure something else out. One of the teacher's suggestions is an app called Freerice - it's a vocab thing that donates grains of rice to people in Africa and Asia with every correct answer. And it keeps a tally for how many grains you've donated.
We talked about his castle story - C turned the word count on his google docs so he's at 100 words. Teacher wants to see 300 or more. That gives us a goal. I can work with this. Rough draft of the story is due on Wed. Soft deadline for the actual castle build is next week.
Today both kids have doctor appointments. They're supposed to be well child visits but I suspect they're going to turn into sick kid visits. I won't be surprised if one or both kids gets put on antibiotics and told to stay home tomorrow. C has a horrible cough and congestion. K has some cough and congestion. C is going to talk to the doctor about his love of shorts in 30-40 degree weather. He doesn't want to listen to me. With his dad, it turns into a fight. So I'm pulling on the doctor's authority.
Tonight is supposed to be ninja gym and soccer practice, with DH having acupuncture. He won't be home until late.
Wed. is C's bday and K's conferences.
Thursday is ninja gym - it's testing day.
Friday is no school. Kids are at my Mom's for the day.
Saturday is final soccer game and C's family party. Sunday is C's friends party at the ninja gym. I scheduled it during our city's trick or treat time. Whoops.

Wisconsin Beth, is it possible your DS's not-good science test is related to his difficulty reading? You have a crazy full week, my hat is off to you.

Based on my memory of high school, you guys are gonna lose the argument about shorts. I went to high school in Chicago with dudes who wore basketball shorts in all weather. Rain? Shorts. Sleet? Shorts. Dead of winter? Shorts.

If he's cold, he'll wear pants eventually That said, I actually think our school handbook doesn't allow shorts after November 1 until....April 1? I have no idea. I should read that sometime...

The guys I saw in college wore a hoodie, flip flops and shorts year round. Meanwhile I'm bundled up like I'm going on an arctic exploration come winter.
Last year all parents got a memo about the weather and what clothes are appropriate for that specific weather condition. If the kid isn't dressed appropriately they can't go out for recess that day. That ended the shorts argument in our house after Gwen found out they enforce it.

We live in upstate NY, not FL. 50 is still shorts weather. My DD doesn't even wear a hat when it's below 0. She hates them. She gets too hot.

The winter gear annoys me because I have to dress the kids like they are Randy in A Christmas Story. It gets cold here but I think they can survive in a regular coat, hat and gloves.

50? That is nuts. The high school kids around here think it's cool to walk around outside in a short-sleeved t-shirt/no coat in the dead of winter. Meanwhile, like DQ, I'm bundled up for an expedition to Antarctica.

If half the class did bad on a science test, then it may be a teacher or test problem. I have a degree in engineering (chemical) and have survived in life without much knowledge of earthquakes or volcanoes. But I have never lived where I would actually experience them.

Yanno, I read about all the stuff y'all do and work for a paycheck, too, and don't know how it is that none of you have dropped from sheer exhaustion.
When my kids were little I worked, but we had a live in nanny/housekeeper. I was still so tired that most of the time I didn't know where to put myself.
Maybe it was just a simpler time.

Whoops.
let him wear shorts. If he's cold, that's his fault. I gave up that fight with my oldest a long time ago. He wears them through most of the winter and never complains about being cold. My brother was/is the same way. He lived in a remote cabin outside of Fairbanks for years and would do video blogs chronically his life there. I remember one where he was going out in the dead of winter to get firewood and he showed the thermometer was -30. Then the camera kind of panned down towards the ground and you could see he was wearing shorts.

At dinner tonight my friend was wearing wool socks and boots.. i was wearing flip flops. I'm just warm. Always have been. And i get claustrophobic from odd things. We aren't all the same.

What color were you going for? Red. New dye. My own fault. I wanted mine bright pink the first time I colored it and used bright pink color. Nope. My hair is mostly white (meaning no pigment), and it turned blue! There's no telling what color it would be from any color used, either. Decided blue was fine, and it's been that way ever since.
