when the Feds/congress etc try to protect us only to end up screwing us even more lol
Did they really expect the banks to go: Oh ok, we just lost billions in revenue, but hey tough luck for us... it business as usual. They are going to find a way to make that money
Hey what's is wrong with charging the business for someone using a credit card? I thought that was the cost of doing business and usually -> they jack up the price anyway to reflect that -> people tend to spend more (some people still haven't grasp the logic that it's the same as using actual cash) -> Convenient which makes your customer happy. Every time I go someplace that says cash only, 9 times out of 10 I will go somewhere else because I rarely carry more than $20 cash on me...

There was something posted on this about a month or so ago. Nothing new here - the banks will always find a way to make their money, but I doubt that the cap on debit card charge amounts will stick as most everyone who uses them spends more than $50 at a time. If it does stick, then people will go back to checks or cash.

What Anne said. I don't think banks want to return to the paper check model (nor do businesses). They aren't going to cap debit cards although they may charge a monthly fee to have one.
My credit union used to charge $1 a month to have a debit card. They may still do that for all I know. We use it for our house account so writing a check is fine with me.
Meanwhile I had to debit $1.63 from my checking today because I seem to have NO cash lately. It's my other bank's fault. They are giving points if you will choose the credit option so I can never get cash back.
