3 nsd so far, I can honestly say my success is due to learning how to make crunchy tacos at home. Very sad actually. Any who, since I didnt sleep but 4 hrs last night I'm going to bed early with the hopes of catching up tonight. Sunburn is all gone too and I had a productive workday. All in all a good day!

Still 4 NSD's because I had to work over. I had to buy lunch because I worked longer than 6 hours. It was $6.00 so I have to call it a spend.

3/20 controlled spends. today will be a spend because i have to pay my overdue fine at the library. it's under my $5 cs limit but i'm counting it as a spend because it was totally unavoidable.
oy, is pet ownership expensive when you have a sickly dog. my 5 year old bichon-poodle has a heart murmur, which i found out last night at his yearly well visit is getting worse. we are going to get him x-rays and blood work which will cost in the neighborhood of $400. of course we're going to plan and budget for it but oy vey. plus, the poor guy needed medicine for his allergies, he needs a dental cleaning and we have to be careful about too much exercise because of his arthritis (and now, the worsening heart murmur). oh, and he needs to be on a diet because he needs to lose about 2-3 pounds (10% of his weight). we're thinking about pet insurance because of the murmur. does anyone have it?

ughh...we have once again fallen off the no spend wagon. I need to go grocery shopping today and it looks to be a spend weekend. DH is taking me out on Sat. and we are hosting a Mother's Day get together at our home. Speaking of Mother's Day I posted my own little rant on my blog anotherhousewife.wordpress.com/ I posted it to facebook but then immediately deleted it because I didn't want to make anyone feel bad or worse, pity. I just wanted to RANT about my feelings for this day. So if you have nothing better to do than to listen to me complain, you can check it out

Off to a good start but today and tomorrow will definitely be spend days. We get off at noon for Oaks and I have some errands to run then tomorrow will be a spend b/c of picking Derby horses for the jackpot. Hopefully Sunday will be a NS since it is Mother's Day.

Looking forward to the weekend which starts in about an hour my client will then be out of email range and I will have time to stretch, go to the chiropractor, get a massage and start getting chores done. Since my grandma lives alone (Dad's mom) my parents are going there for Mother's Day and taking her out. I know my mom is missing her own mother but it has gotten easier with time. Hard to believe she's been gone for 2 years. Anywho, with my appointments today, it will be a spend day and I'm going to an antique outdoor market on Sunday which will be another spend day ($3 entry plus I'll probably buy stuff ;D)

Yesterday was spend. I went to Home Depot and got fertilizer and grass seed, so DH & I can turn a flower garden back into grass. That is on the schedule for tomorrow. Tonight we are going out to dinner for our b-days and using a groupon.
Good news! No pop all week and I'm down a little over 3 pounds. I realize most of it was probably water weight, but it definitely motivates me to keep going.
Dentist said she thinks it is TMJ and to wear my daygaurd everyday for the next 2 weeks and see if it alleviates the pain. If it doesn't she'll refer me to a TMJ specialist. I do admit that after wearing it all day yesterday I was not in as much pain and my ear wasn't as blocked up.
Had a nice breakfast with mini-D at pre-school. The school set up tables in the entry way and had coffee, juice and water and we got to sit down and have muffins with our little one's that they helped make yesterday. It was all he could talk about last night. In fact it was the first time he didn't eat breakfast at home since he started pre-school.
MizBear- Glad the inspection went well.
AZmom- Hugs to you. I read your blog.
Startsmart- Enjoy the client free weekend.
MrsLynch- Sorry about the heart murmur is there anything they can do or is it degenerative?

5 NSD because I didn't leave the house although DS did. He had to get big boys for the twins and I asked him to pick up a box at my DSIS's house that was loaded with towels. I have towels but it is time to get rid of the ragged ones and start using newer ones.

mrslynch- I have heard of pet insurance. Your vet's office should have info on that. Or your local humane society or ASPCA may know who to contact.
I am ready to take a big nap. Tired of the drama. I'm sure you all can guess where it's coming from too.
HUGS everyone.

Black Hills Meet Up - Hey ladies, so I was doing some searching tonight because my budget for the trip is looking painfully tight. I know a couple of us were thinking of flying into Omaha and driving over, which is about a 9 hour drive (excluding rest breaks). It occurred to me that Denver is closer (and also a Southwest Airlines hub) and would only be a 6 hour drive. And for me, the tickets would be about $250 rather than the $550ish it would be to fly into Rapid City. So I'm wondering if anyone else would be interested in flying into or meeting up in Denver and Road Tripping to Rapid City?

6 NSD Although I bought ant-traps for the house I am not going to count it because it was a necessity but not planned. If I'd have known the ants were coming, it would have been a planned and budgeted item. I have lived here 5 years and this is the first I have had ants.

Update: 4/20 NSD, 7/31 NEO Yesterday was our first big spend day of the month (friday we had to pick up a bedframe from craiglist so that was a spend too). We ran a TON of errands. Finished getting the things we needed for our garden. That is all planted now Had to buy a wire fence to build around it. The previous homeowner decided that the neighborhood rabbits were "adorable" so she had been feeding them. They eat everything in the yard (trees, bushes, plants etc) and poop everyone. So annoying. DH is a dork! We have some hanging flower baskets outside our front door. Within 2 days of hanging them a robin made one her home, built a nest and laid 4 eggs. She gets mad whenever we go out the front door. She flys to the tree and starts singing at us. We are wheel barrelling dirt and plants from the front yard to the back yard and DH starts whistling at the robin (We call her Martha). He is oblivious to everything else around him. I come around the corner and there is a lady walking her dog with her 15 year old daugther giving DH the strangest look. I had to yell "Sorry- he was whistling at the Bird!" And then explained about Martha and all that. I think they thought he was whistling at them -- like I said- DH is a dork Really impressed by our

Happy Mother's Day!!!
We had Kids over who had never been over before, I get to seem like a very bossy person (not saying I am not) since they have no clue of the rules. While we were eating one child was on the trampoline outside and his brother decided to join him going through the fence. NOT a good thing since the dog was out. We are going to buy caribeeners (sp?) so we can bar people/kids from coming into the yard without our knowledge. This could have been a very bad thing with Thor.
On a possitive note the children are black whose parents probably came over from Africa themselves (thus different cooking/different smells) When the child came in and Thor was in the back yard he didn't even bark at them and obviously didn't bite them.

Saturday was a NSD since I didn't even leave the house. Couldn't sleep Friday night so I stayed up until about 4am then spent most of the day lazing about Today was fun, went out to the Antique Faire in downtown Sacramento and spent my spending cash. Bought some awesome old books, bike decor and the cutest salt&pepper shakers for my collection. Had fun with E too. Still need to finish up the rest of the house chores and such today. It's a bit cold outside so maybe now's the time to mow the lawns.

Happy Mother's Day! My dad and I are taking my mother to the Japanese Steak House. This is surprise; normally my dad cooks.
I've spent Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Most of it was planned. Sat's spend wasn't planned, but it was a necessity. Oh well.
I receieved a check and the estimate to get my roof replaced. I'll call the contractor tomorrow to schedule the appointment. I purchased my new lawn mower. My father and I will put it together one day this week.

Update: 4 NS and 7 CS days Like startsmart I also did not leave the house yesterday so it was a NS day. I rested and worked on the creation of final exams. Today I treated DOM to lunch for Mother's Day. It was planned so I am counting it in my CS days.

I am so happy to FINALLY be able to have him home again. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers this past year.
ETA: Actually it will be this week he heads home since Sunday is the start of the week! He probably won't be landing until Saturday or Sunday.

Thank you Mr. Angel for all you have done for us. 7 NSD because I had to work. I did use some of my monies from last month and bought BK tonight for supper. It came to $2.72. We were to get flowers from the store manager at work today for Mother's Day but they ran out so we got nada. Not even a "thank you" from any of the management team. We did have quite a few customers thank us for being there, so that was OK.

Reenee-- A road trip from Denver will take more than six hours no matter what mapquest says. Probably closer to eight. With the cost of a rental car and high priced gas, it might be cheaper in the long run to fly into Rapid City. If it is just you, I'm not sure I would encourage you to drive it alone. You will be going over some very unpopulated countryside.

SES - it's not the unpopulated that bothers me. The road trip to see my brother is a little longer distance wise and much less populated. *grumble* I guess I'll have to wait and see.

ses- I got the package about South Dakota in the mail this week and finally got a chance to open it today! Thanks so much for sending!
I'm considering Black Hills and how I can make this trip work. By June I should be transitioned to my new role with my clients which would enable me to set aside 4-5 hours/day for work and the rest could be travel/tour time. I'm considering this:
Drive Sacramento to Denver bunk w/family in town, visit with client, maybe long weekend Drive Denver to Black Hills bunk w/y'all, tour the sites Drive Black Hills to Kansas City bunk w/family, visit friends Drive Kansas City to Texas bunk w/family as a stop over Drive Texas to New Mexico bunk w/family Drive NM to Sacramento (prob 2 day trip, take my time)
Cons: it's a lot of driving and time on the road can't do it with my current laptop (not dependable enough) gas + food = eek on the budget my ass will be permanently flat after this much driving will need to get service done on the car before going
Pros: can see my client, family lodging costs are minimal get to see a LOT of the country in a short time frame my camera + ipad means I can go snap crazy I should have the new laptop by then my car is fuel efficient I can see blue eyes this summer the 18 yo I mentor could make me an awesome travel playlist
I should get all of this sorted by the end of May, definitely. So much to do!

Also an update on:
Weekend to do list: empty and clean fridge & 2 freezers (did the fridge only) mow lawns (did the back which was worse) trim rose bushes (I have 18) (done) finish organizing work files online (nope) scan 2011 and 2010 files (nope) balance bank accounts (nope) clean out my desk drawers (nope) sort receipts (nope)
Clearly we need to redefine a "startsmart day" since this is not typical for me but with getting so little sleep it's amazing I shower and feed myself.
The rest of this week is going to be wonky thanks to my client being out, I need to impose more structure instead of what I did Friday which was the bare minimum on email and then relax. Ug. Kicking my own ass back into gear.

Update: 5 CS + 3 NS = 8 of 27, 2 of 12 MOAN Not much to say. I took Friday off as a mental health day and enjoyed a longer weekend to get everything done. Saturday we left the house only to go to the dog park and over to friends', so we spent no money. Yesterday I mowed the lawn. Hope everyone had a good Mothers' day.

Happy Mother's Day to all! I hope you all enjoyed the day. Mine started out good with eggs & bacon for breakfast and an Alton Brown cook book, then we went to church and out to lunch with the IL's. I am slightly peeved at FIL, as he never offers to pick up the tab for us. He will pointedly tell the waiter that he, MIL & SIL are on 1 check and we are on a separate one. On the other hand we pick up the tab for them 3 or 4 times a year (Anniversary, B-days, if we invite them.) Yesterday it got under my skin because he didn't contribute enough to even cover his and MIL's lunch. SIL never contributes to anything (a separate rant in itself). I could understand if SIL was pitching in and covered part of MIL's lunch. Anyway then DH over ate and felt sick the rest of the day. So I got to spend over an hour getting mini-D down for his nap. After that I started watching The Tudors on BBCA. It is the showtime series. I love that period of history, so I started recording them while ago and yesterday watched 4 or 5 episodes.
If anyone is contact with Sharing, tell her Happy Mother's Day and we miss her.
Startsmart- If you have a reliable car and computer I'd say the long road trip sounded like fun. As long as you can juggle the work and play time.

A very productive weekend. I finished sorting through about 11 big boxes (1.5-2.0sq ft) of my mothers treasures, mostly pictures, papers, journals and letters. There are three small boxes on the top shelf, that I can't reach, left to do. As soon as someone tall passes through the house I'll get them down and finish the job. Finally.
I will be keeping two boxes of journal and OLD financial records that my DSis has no interest in. When I get the time I will enjoy going through them and find out what life cost 50 years ago.
I well be glad to send all the slides and photos my Dad took off with DSis and let her sort out the family shots she wants. There are so many!
Yesterday was sunny and 85*, today is to be cloudy and 55*. At least I won't be tempted to laze around on the deck and do nothing. I really need to clean up the kitchen and maybe cook something for the rest of the week. I'm doing fairly well at eating my way through my pantry. I haven't visited a grocery store since April 4 and don't need anything but maybe milk. Sometime this week I need to collect May prices for the MT board food inflation experiment and while I am there pick up a carton of milk. Then I can make some Pumpkin Pie, since I have all of the other ingredients in the pantry. I consider pumpkin pie a vegetable and therefore very healthy! Who can ever eat too many vegetables? It would go well with the big chicken and rice casserole I made Saturday. Yummy. It has already been packaged into individual servings and popped into the freezer. Next up will be a pot of beanie weenies, if the hot dogs ever thaw, and a batch of corn fritters.
Nothing is getting done while I'm here visiting with you all, so I need to go. Have a good day and week!
