After Sunday and Monday spend days I had a NSD yesterday and hoping for another today. Not feeling well (head cold) so hunker down at home and working for now.
My client leaves early on Friday which is awesome, 9 days of less stress and rest while she's gone.
I think my goal is going to be 25 NSD to catch up from the first 4 lax months this year. I have SO much that needs to get done around the house and I'm going to pay down some debt and continue to build up savings.

Need prayers/good juju whatever. It is not fluid in the ear, but I do have some hearing loss. The ENT thinks I have 2 separate issues. One is that my eardrum on the right is not moving as it should, so I'm having a CT scan this afternoon to see if they can figure it out what is causing it. The second is my jaw is out of alignment, which is what he thinks is causing the pain and discomfort. He says often people come in for ear pain and it is really jaw pain. So I made an appointment on Friday AM to see my dentist about that. In the mean time anytime I'm not eating, I need to be using my dayguard to see if that eases the discomfort. Usually I only use it if I notice I'm clenching.

mrslynch - I'd like to echo the outrage at such an expensive listing for a bridal registry. One of my dear friends from college set up her registry at Target, and her now-DH took the scanner when she wasn't looking and scanned a bunch of toilet paper. When she found out he shrugged and said "We're going to need it, right?" But, knowing that budgets varied wildly, they registered for movies, board games, and various other "small" things as well as some of the more expensive items so that everyone would have plenty of options. My other idea/suggestion is what I did for my sister when she got married: I bought a nice laundry basket then filled it with things that would be helpful right as they moved in... paper plates, plastic utensils, plastic cups, paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, cleaning rags, a few quick box meals, plastic food storage containers, etc. I don't know if she'll look down on it as a "cheap" gift, I prefer to think of it as a "useful" gift.

reenee--while that is an excellent idea, my friend has had her own home for 8 or so years and living with her fiance for about 18 months in that home. i'm pretty sure she's good on all that stuff!

Honestly I can't believe $35 for a plate! Really I prefer my cheap stuff anyways. Plus if it gets broken it is easy to replace.
We have a plan in place for our puppy and I am much happier about it. First off yesterday was very emotional, so thanks ladies. We are going to take a month or two, get him fully vacinated and fixed. We are also going to work on his issues. Once I think something is a problem a little work and he does so well. I need to give him and him with us a chance closely supervised obviously.
As he has problems with pet stores I am going to enroll him in training classes in a facility that is NOT a pet store. We are also going to take him places daily and for daily walks. He had terrible anxiety about the vehicle and then today goes and jumps volunarily in it. In fact we Weren't going any where (just had gone through the garage to get DS#2 off to be picked up for school.) Since he volunteered to go in we went for a short ride to the dog park (not many dogs and we kept him leashed.)
Wish me luck ladies. If in a couple of months there are still issues we will obtain a second opinion and game plan. If nothing else the work we put into him will make him more adoptable to another home.
And yes I don't have many good thoughts about my neighbor at this time. She is very judgemental. She is the same on that grounded her son from mine for a week.

"Boy - I learned alot about my spending habits with one month on this board. Like everything, accountability creates awareness." Mcreal--Ain't it the truth! Last month was sloppy. I didn't really mess up the budget but it isn't pretty. I am going back to documenting every penny spent during May, which will be difficult when i go past the seeds and bedding plants. Perhaps I should just consider the dandelions, that are growing so brilliantly, my flowers for this year.
I did spend a good chunk of money($105) when I ordered a bunch of my special CFL light bulbs, but they will pay for themselves over the long run. And I spent about $50 restocking and updating my sewing box for the first time in about 20 years, which included a new pair of really good sewing scissors. I also bought a really nice programmable thermostat that will pay for itself in a couple of years. I guess these expenditures could be considered "investments"
I also spent about $35 more than planned at the grocery store on junk and Easter stuff. I could kick myself. The past four months I stayed with my "food stamp allotment" plus $20 for stocking up and did so well! I think I will shop from the pantry this month as much as possible, and make and FOLLOW my menu plan for the month. That makes SO much difference.
This month will be the final payment on my fridge. Perhaps that will create a little wiggle room.
MK-- karma for working out what will work best for your family and the puppy. I'm sure the effort will be worth it. If not for your family, for the puppy's next family.

SES, I found CFL light bulbs a few years back at the Dollar Store and when the store went out of business they were all discounted to 33 cents. I have a box full!
Don't beat yourself up, you're doing a great job with finances and especially awareness which most people do not have.
Yesterday and today I've entered 50 new orders, finalized another 5 and confirmed a private client. I'm tired.
Weekend to do list: empty and clean fridge & 2 freezers mow lawns trim rose bushes (I have 18) finish organizing work files online scan 2011 and 2010 files balance bank accounts clean out my desk drawers sort receipts

smartstart--The CFL bulbs that i order have a 5000-5100K rating. The ones I can buy locally have such a dingy, dull yellow light that I find really depressing, especially in winter. Even though more expensive, these are still cheaper than additional medical expenses.

MK - good luck with your pup - sounds like you are doing all the right things.
Wedding registry - while the original intent was - perhaps - to be helpful to guests and guests/wedding party members don't HAVE to give gifts - the sad truth is that culturally we've allowed it to be acceptable for brides/grooms to sit around and complain about each and every gift. Some brides/grooms will never be pleased (why didn't you buy from the registry/why didn't you buy a more expensive item/why didn't you buy more) and some won't care at all. We didn't register - and what I loved was that all but one guest left a card (and some left much more). I still look at the scrapbook which has for each guest - a picture of them with us and their card to us. Luckily I wrote what they gave us too because frankly otherwise I have forgotten!
Dakota - good luck with the ear/jaw Mizbear - good luck with the inspection
Having a rough week and indulged in a handbag purchase - so I'll be short one CS day. It was a pricy indulgence and completely not needed but I've been wanting it since I saw it a few months ago. My first choice color (since I could never justify buying ALL the colors) was sold out but I am excited about the color I got. Now if it would only get here! No more fun money for me this month and maybe next.
Hope everyone, their kids, spouses, pets, etc are doing well.

I admit to following the Royal Wedding enough to know they didn't register for anything but instead they asked people to donate to charities - but not close enough to know which charities!

spruby--now that you mention it i think one or more of the charities had to do with children, because it was mentioned in context with the orphanage in Africa where William worked for awhile during his gap year. Somewhere, rolling around in my memory, is the idea that several of his gap year/summer holiday projects dealt with children. It will be interesting to see how Diana and Kate will influence his parenting of his children.

Hi ladies! I've been MIA for a long time. Just wanted to pop in with a quick update. Today was a good day. This morning I read an article that the mine that exploded in WV in 2010 is going to be permanently sealed. That mine had a horrible safety record and I had no faith in the company to make it safer.
Secondly my WV CPA license came in the mail today. I was trying to get my paperwork in order to do my MD license next month and I hit a bit of a snag. Hopefully I can fix it without needing to take anymore college classes. I just finished a class yesterday putting my grand totals at 204 credit hours and a bachelors and masters degree. I am done!

4 NSD but I did buy groceries for $13.81. I just need to get cat stuff, paper products, and a few more food items like fruit and veggies. Hopefully I won't buy anything that is not on my list so that I can keep this streak going.

Morning ladies -- last month I overspent. On the plus side, I'm still exercising and I'm losing inches. Monday and yesterday was a NS. Tuesday was a NS, except for the office baseball outing ticket.
mizbear -- good luck with your inspection!
wvug -- Congrats on the CPA license.
MK -- hugs on the puppy situation. Some of your puppy's behaviors remind me of my dog. At one point he wouldn't get on the leash, then my father was cutting the grass and he didn't like the lawn mower so he volunteered to go on the leash to go for a walk. He was cured of the leash fear. As he grew older, he lost the fear of the lawn mower as well. I think he felt like the back yard was his territory. I will say if you keep him long enough, no one will hurt your kids while he is around, he will see to it. I like German Shepherds. Good luck with him.
SES -- you are doing fine. As someone said, you've done a good job, you are entitled to a splurge every once in a while.
spruby -- enjoy your purse.
mrslynch -- I know you will select an excellent gift.

I am dangerous in the accessory dept.
Inspection is done. They marked me for clutter- falls under general housekeeping- but noted tha they had no problems with the actual cleanliness and that I was keeping them appraised of my situation with having to move more stuff into my apartment. Basically what saved my butt is the fact that I keep them updated and they said it looked better than before. They did ask that I steam clean the carpets before next year's inspect.

Update: 2 CS + 2 NS = 4 of 27, 1 of 12 MOAN
I need to get my motivation back for getting on the Wii for 1/2 hour the nights DH is in class. Ever since I took March off, I've had trouble getting back in the habit.
wvu: CONGRATS!!!!
mizbear: now you can stop stressing about the inspection and try and relax a little. that's good
mk: I'm glad you have a plan you're comfortable with. You know I wish the best for your family and the puppy, whatever situation that ends up being.

Update: 2/15 NSD, 4/15 NEO, 3/15 MOAN. I decided that I'm going to count each hour block of weeding as exercise, so I should get some more MOANs in.

today was a spend day due to paying stupid tax. technically, it's not my fault but i have to own up to it. my husband is in charge of one bill--our ez pass. he had it linked up to our debit card with our credit card as backup that is never, ever needed...or so i thought. apparently, my lovely dh forgot to update the ez pass account with the new expiration date for our debit card and we incurred a $70 bill on ez pass (let's not even go into the fact that the $70 also included a late fee because i swear, the first statement never came through my email). fortunately, we had the money to pay it in full but i'm still super annoyed. i have to take the dog to the vet tonight and this $70 definitely cuts into the available money for the vet visit. i'm not expecting it to cost more than $150, which we have the cash to cover but still. mizbear--congrats on passing inspection! wvu--congrats and thanks for the update!

taking a little break from work, I've been super productive this morning.
I couldn't sleep last night and got up to work at 2am, spent 2 hours writing and then slept for 4 hours.

Have begun the springtime allergy med regime early this year because the last two days I've woken up feeling like someone was sitting on my chest. Not fun. Today I've had to benedryl twice on top of my daily med which makes me a very sleepy girl. I really hope they'll let me come home early. I need a nap.

Update: 5/20 NSD, 5/31 NEO, 4/20 MOAN Got a lot of crap cleaned up and done at work today. Have to meet the boss at o'dark thirty tomorrow morning to head up to a conference in the cities. Who starts a conference at 7am? Not amused, but then again no one asked my opinion Nothing at all exciting to report. Putting together our to do list for this weekend. Have to drive to the next town over and pick up a bed frame tomorrow from craigslist. My parents gave us their king size mattress and box-spring. It's like 2 years old- they like the "brand" that they have at their California house better so they ordered a new mattress for their MN house. Oh well- free bed for Sheila. They are giving me all the old sheets too- it's one of those extra deep beds. So I just have to buy the frame and a new comforter. DS is getting our old queen bed and his full size is going to my brother for his guest room. Other than that we don't have anything very exciting planned for the weekend. Supposed to be decent weather- 60's I think. It has taken forever for spring to come to MN.

Dakota: Sorry to hear of the troubles. DF had major ear problems and had to have surgery. They actually removed his ear and reconstructed his ear chanel, repaired his ear drum and removed a mass. Fixed everything and worked really well. Was done through done day surgery and he recovered quickly. Good luck.
More Dog Update: Talked to a trainer, dog will start classes next Wedsnesday. He is doing really great with me touching his ears and I got some medicine in one ear. We actually went to the store where the classes are (really small pet store) talked to the owner. She was able to touch his ears. One ear he tried to get her and she yelled at him. Then she tried again and was able to look into it. Since he has trouble with women yet he did so well with her I am very happy. We are taking him out daily on car rides then doing something fun with him.
Went to my support group last night and really did not like how it was run. I LOVE my support group but the gal who runs it took too long trying to get things we want out of the meetings/speakers. She would have done better with 5 minutes on it and then moving to an e-mail campaign instead of taking up 1/2 an hour with it. Oh well always next month and I was not in a chatty mood anyways.
On a not so good note puppy did not do well with the woman we have on payroll to help with DS#2. But that is one of the areas we know we need to work on.....
mizbear: SO glad you passed. I have never had my home inspected for all the junk they look for in yours. I would think steam cleaning would be the complexes job but then again with the really cheap rent sometimes it doesn't pay to agrue.

mk- Because my apt is subsidized is why they have all the funky inspection stuff. They (the system) have had problems in the past with people dsabling smoke detectors, having additional parties living in their apartments, lining the stoves and ovens with foil- which can catch fire, etc. They will hire someone to steam clean the carpet for you if you ask- but the rental office lady told me that since I am physically able to rent one for $25 from the grocery store and pull on the thing, it would be less expensive- if you have the office do it, they have to charge you whatever they are charged. I had brand new carpet when I moved in 2 years ago. My mom is considering buying me a bissell pro heat 2x for christmas.
