No question here, just a cathartic uhg!
I started the process of short selling my house. I was laid off last December, and was lucky enough to find a job...on the other coast. I have been commuting (read - living on a friend's couch) to my new city (a HCOL area), but just signed a lease for my own 1 bedroom place in June.
My house, which I would have stayed in had I not been laid off, has lost 63% of its value since I bought it in 2006, and I currently 60% underwater. My mom, who is in real estate, was told by her firm that the market where my old house is is projected to recover in 2032!
UGH!

Best of luck on the short sale! I've noticed here this spring that 2 houses in my neighborhood have sold (nothing has been moving around here in awhile), so hopefully the real estate market is picking up some steam.

I'm hoping mine sells. I don't want to rent it out because I don't want it trashed. It's a family home so it will be rented by a family. Right now it is rented by an adult couple with no pets but they want to move because of no work.
