Good grief............There is a big 4 day music concert coming to my area this summer. I don't remember exactly how much the tickets are but I do know they are over $100. The radio ad explains they have a financing option for the show and parking. I'm speechless.

Hey, not everyone has that kind of cash laying around So, if you really really want to go, I guess you could finance it (not that I would)

Sadly that sounds about right to me, for 4 days. I bet parking is astronomical though. There's a yoga/music festival (Wanderlust) that's going around the country, and I'd love to go but the weekend ticket is over $300 I think, and it doesn't include lodging sadly I'm not going. Wait... is the $100 per day or for the whole thing?!

that sounds like a bargain, actually. I've looked into Bonnaroo and SXSW in the past, and those festivals are definitely pricier. what's this festival?

I remember listening to an irresponsible coworker beg and beg her parents for money to pay her family's utilities for the last two months, make a big fuss about it, and then when they came across with the money, she and her soon-to-be-ex husband used the few hundred dollars her folks gave them to go see a concert by "Steaming Meatloaf" ( I don't really remember the group, but they were popular about ten years ago ), and buy matching concert jackets ! They lost their house and of course, the utilities were shut off....

I'd finance it if it was like 0% or crazy low like that.

I'm actually heading out on a concert cruise tomorrow - by the management company that also puts on the "world's greatest floating music festival" each year. I go on that, too. this company charters a cruise ship, and then books the passengers themselves. in doing so, they are fronting the fares, and taking payments later. they allow passengers to spread out payments from booking up to about 3 weeks before the sail date, with minimums due at certain deadlines. there's no fee or interest rate to take advantage of this, but you do miss out on a 5% discount for paying in full. if that's the kind of financing available, that's totally a feasible option, IMHO.

Well, maybe I misunderstood but I thought the ticket was a little over $100 for ALL four days. Then you add in parking. But financing it? Really? Since when do we need to finance completely frivolous things. My mom would be rolling over in her grave if she thought I was going to finance a concert. LOL

I guess my disbelief is in the fact that if you can't afford this without making payments you don't really need to go. Oh god, I'm turning into my parents....................

Just because someone chooses to finance something doesn't mean they can only afford it by making payments. Although, for a lot of people, this is how they use financing.

I am a big time fan of Paul McCartney. I don't or won't do what that man offers as VIP Packages because I can not afford it! However, I read young fans saying they "have" to buy the packages because of his age and this might be the last time he tours.
He has two packages $2500 and $1600, up from $2000 and $1500 last year.
Remember, I said I'm not going to do this. I didn't last year or the previous year's when he used an outside tour company to do this and it included your hotel. These packages don't even include hotel.
ETA: Many of these young fans do multiple shows and it's all on a credit card. They write they will max out their credit cards for Paul. They are all crazy.

theotherme: We are in the same boat! I LOVE Paul McCartney. He's my favorite artist. I have seen him in New York and, last year in Philadelphia. I had a premium ticket ($250), and I would love to get a VIP package. But I cannot afford it and I refuse to mortgage my life for him. The man is expensive!

I love him, too, and have seen him too many times. I have promised myself this year that I will only see him once and I will only pay $250 since I live no where near where he will play. I have enough in savings to cover one trip and it will be my vacation. I am hoping he will play in Denver because I have a free place to stay there and can stay longer because of it. I have friends to see there in addition to seeing the man of my dreams.
