This is taking longer than I thought. I am waiting patiently for May 15th paycheck (still got April 30th, but that's for everything else but the credit cards) seems so far away. It's like a waiting game. May 15th, Amex Clear will be paid off and I will put nice chunk on Amex Blue, which is the biggest balance card I have - $3200. It's Monday, it's raining, I am cranky.. this sucks..I keep looking at my budget spreadsheet, tweaking it, making it all pretty just to look at it more. But I wish I had some movement in it already! This is going to be long next 20 days. I just depleted my envelopes with last $40 for car gas, which will last me until April 30th and then some. But still, I want May 15th to be here already! agghhh rant over

Don't be wishing your life away. Find something non finance related to focus on.... May 15 will get here soon enough.

Hang in there indebt! Remember, you didn't get yourself into this situation overnight, so don't get discouraged that you're not getting out of it as quickly as you want to either. Be patient, you WILL get there! Breathe, and try to think of something positive that you can put your energy to while waiting for your paydays come around. Maybe you can declutter and sell some stuff on eBay for additional funds, or read investing books, or find ways to improve other areas in your life. For example, here's something I read today that I'm trying to find effective ways to address: www.npr.org/2011/04/25/135575490/sitting-all-day-worse-for-you-than-you-might-thinkMaybe we could discuss it on the Healthy Living board and get some ideas.

Oh I am not sitting on my ass. I had a pretty productive day today.
Just this debt thing, that's all I think about. I constantly envision the date when I am free from it. It's on my mind all the time. I look at my spreadsheet everyday, many times over and over, like something changed.
I guess this is the hard part. To wait for next paycheck that is designated towards the debt. I really can't wait to get that nice one payment on Amex and delete it from my spreadsheet. I guess I am craving for some movement ;D .

Sounds like me sometimes, except in my case:
"Just this retirement thing, that's all I think about. I constantly envision the date when I am free from work. It's on my mind all the time. I look at my retirement account everyday, many times over and over, like something changed.
I guess this is the hard part. To wait for next paycheck that is designated towards retirement savings. I really can't wait to get that nice one contribution on my ROTH IRA and check it off for the year. I guess I am craving for some movement ;D ."

indebt, it's an admirable thing that you're trying to get out of debt. But it isn't the only thing. Stop to enjoy life at times too. Sometimes I only save $600 a month instead of my usual $1000 due to things happening in life but sometimes you just can't replace those good experiences.

Maybe you could re-work your plan to pay off some debt with both paydays. You would save some interest that way.
Just split your bills up to pay some at the end of the month and some in the middle of the month and use the rest to pay down debt.

I agree with Endofera, it would be good to see the debt go down twice a month rather than once. You are still very heady with this paydown, which is great! But if in a few months you find your enthusiasm flagging, you might enjoy seeing progress with both paychecks rather than just one. I LOVE seeing the progress on your signature! (And mine too LOL)

In agree that if you can split it between the paydays, you will get the enjoyment two times a month rather than waiting a whole month. Congrats to you! I remember a few years ago when I was paying down debts after my divorce, it was great when you could cross a new one off the list. Keep up the great work!

You can do it, indebt! Hang in there!
I know the feeling, though. I am making my last ever CC debt payment later in May and I am so flipping excited! You're doing a great job!

Ah yes... 14 more days ;D and Amex Clear will be paid off ($680 balance) and I will pay $423 on Amex Blue card which has $3200 balance on it. Next couple months it will be all on Amex Blue.
The reason why I really can't split in between paychecks is, that all my credit card bill are due on every 20th of the month. I switched it long time ago like that. From the 30th of every month paycheck I pay my mortage, HOA and all utulities and also my car insurance. So my 15th paycheck is designated all for credit card payoff. It makes things easier on my spreadsheet to look at and I just do it all in one click of a mouse. 16th comes along, and all my credit cards are paid. ;D
It's simple, worry free and fool proof.
I don't think I need any more motivation, I just want this 15th check to get here quicker lol.
June, July and August will be a climb. Big big big card... 3200 bucks..It's my biggest balance card on my spreadsheet. But it's going to be paid off by summer! WOOT! After that, piece of cake. Thing will start rolling with payoffs of card per month, which is nice.
Thank you for all the support!

OK, that makes sense! I can't wait to see your update! By the way, have you had any good low-rate or BT offers? You should keep your eyes open for them. Once you've paid off one or two cards, they should be coming soon. ETA: Hey Kudos to Meghan! That must feel GREAT!!!

$1103 per month is a big shovel, Indebt. You have a good plan and you are working it, you'll get there!

Thanks debtheaven! No offers yet. I actually blocked all the junk mail offers a while ago through some website. But I am keeping an eye open though. Still need to wait a little bit to get my debt to credit limit ratio lower on my reports. Really the whole debt payoff thing will not cost me that much in interest to be honest since I am doing highest APR card first, which is the fastest possible payoff time. petuania, isn't that crazy? Get this...I had this debt for ..uhhmm I dunno.. 4-5 years? I was just paying minimum payments month after month after month, which comes up to like 300 bucks or so. I had no budget, didn't know where my money was going, how much I have. I just never had money for "some" reason. It's sad to think that. I make decent salary, but I never had money. It would always find a way to just leave me lol. I noticed that I could realistically put $1200 a month towards credit card debt. How is that possible to do it now, when before, it always seemed like I never had money? One word: BUDGET. Once I did that, on January 1st, everything opened up for me. It was amazing. I was just spending money on crap. I did some numbers as best I could and I found out I pretty much blew over $14000 last year.... on food...and on car gas...really? lol $1200 a month on car gas and food? What's even crazier is that I worked from home that whole year so I didn't drive!!! lol That just shows you how much I was spending on who knows what instead of paying my cards off. BTW, Actually 10 more days to go! I get paid on 13th (friday - uh oh) since 15th calls on Sunday. This is actually pretty nice because it's short time. I will probably still have money left in my envelopes. Without budget, I would never be able to do this. No way.
