Can you regret something that someone else did? I think that is more resent.

Wow, thyme, that's a hard question. I think it depends on the age of the other person. Perhaps regret for things happening to kids like putting the child in football instead of piano. Maybe there is a better word choice for regretting for others. I don't think empathy covers it. Resent works. The only regret I read was the initial one.

Hope it helps them. I've read suggestions to write those letters that contain what you always want to say, pour your heart out and then tear them up. Telling those 'secrets' to the Internet may be the modern day version of the confessional.

Can you regret something that someone else did? I think that is more resent. I agree the way you put it is more resentment, but we can regret how we handled our reaction to what they did.

I guess my one regret is that I didn't finish college since the VA was paying my way as a dependent of soldier killed in action. Someone asked me if I regretted marrying the person I did and staying married for eighteen years. My answer was NO, I would not have the exact son that I do from that marriage. He got the best of both of us. That might not have been the case married to someone else and I grew and learned those 18 yrs. Maybe I am to dumb to look at stuff as regrets and more like just life's little experiences

I love people who have "no regrets". I'm like, really? Maybe they just didn't take enough chances in life or a little too high on themselves or something. There are always things we could have done better.
Totally different animals. Having regret or having done something "better" are not the same thing. I have no regrets.

There are always things we could have done better. Maybe some of us are luckier or smarter and got it right the first time. I can't think of any regrets and I've tried since I read this last night. Either something good came out of the situation or it wasn't that bad because I'm at a loss. But I'll keep thinking ...

There are always things we could have done better. There is a test question to find out if a person is a sociopath on one of the threads. I apologize for the website being a day dampener. I thought some people might want to unburden themselves without all of us peering into their life. Or as a boost to know your life doesn't resemble a sink hole after all ;D

Doc: Weren't you just taking applications over on searching for Mrs. Right? I love to bash my wife here because I don't have the balls to do it to her face. And Nance thought we had broke up several times We're actually quite happy. Just don't tell her I said that.

My biggest regret is not finishing high school. I was so stupid back then - seriously, I had less than 12 weeks to go when I dropped out.
However, my life experience of running away from home for ~6 months taught me more about real life during that time frame than 12 years of schooling did. I was always book-smart, but lacked street-smarts and that 6 months gave it to me in spades. I did go back and get my GED a year later and passed the first time without any prep or studying.
So....while I regret dropping out and missing out on the "senior experience" of graduating, I do not regret what I learned during my hiatus. I learned a lot about myself that graduating would never have shown me.
