So - what are we thinking about this? —— Ronna McDaniel mess shows problem of politics-to-pundit conveyor belt The former RNC chair was pushed out after a staff revolt – but why did NBC hire her in the first place? …. So it was somewhat of a surprise when NBC’s hiring of former Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel triggered a staff revolt, legal fights, endless inches of bad press and a stunning media conflagration that seemed set to burn down America’s premier liberal cable news network, MSNBC. It also ended in McDaniel being canned last week shortly after her appointment was announced. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/mar/31/why-ronna-mcdaniel-nbc-hired-fired

I think she was hired to be a defender of the indefensible so it could be attacked. However: On her first appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press last Sunday McDaniel said that the Capitol riot “doesn’t represent our country. It certainly does not represent my party.”
But she was immediately grilled as to why she hadn’t said that earlier. “When you’re the RNC chair, you … you kind of take one for the whole team right now. I get to be a little bit more myself, right?” she suggested. (From link in OP) I read that as, "I am going to weasel out of what I have said before" and who wants to deal with a weasel.

She is more of an actor. As the RNC chair, she used the script she was given. When she got on NBC, she used that script. That is fine for Jennifer Aniston - but doesn’t work so well for Ronna.

i think it is great.
the staff rightly saw RM as anti-democratic. NBC, and the nation as a whole, owe her ZIP. certainly not a MAGAphone.

Well - because of contract law, NBC probably has to pay some amount of her contract out. It is a fairly small amount for NBC, and they may have already paid it. So, after that payment is complete she is owed zip. 😝

My question for NBC is what were they thinking in hiring Ronna McDaniel who was a hardline trump supporter. She was always hard-core controversial.
