www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/wisconsin-supreme-court-calls-for-legislative-maps-to-be-redrawn-in-case-brought-by-democratsi really loved watching this race closely. and i really loved the result. and i really love what has happened from that result. Wisconsin will be blue in 2024. the GOP can't do a damned thing about it, as far as i can tell. The maps from parties to the lawsuit are due by Jan. 12, with supporting arguments due 10 days later. Reports from the consultants are due by Feb. 1, with responses a week later. That means the court will release new maps likely sometime in late February or early March unless the Legislature acts first.
The state elections commission has said maps must be in place by March 15 if the new districts are to be in play for the 2024 election.

I live in Wisconsin and I will be very surprised if WI goes Blue. All offices are not up for re-election this year, so it will not have that much of an effect this year. The Republicans will find a way to cheat make the system favor them, they always do. Interested to see what giramomma thinks.

All state House seats are up for election this year but doubt redrawn lines will overcome a 64-35 GOP majority. Half the Senate is up. It has a 22-11 Republican majority. Don't know what the group running looks like partywise but see that has tough to flip also.

My understanding was something similar to what Bills said. Republicans are fighting ruling hard. I seem to know a lot of MAGA supporters. I think it will improve the #’s, but won’t flip WI Blue this year.

PS- my understanding is that they are very limited in their ability to fight due to the nature of the ruling. i guess we will just see, or something like that.
PPS- maps are due tomorrow. game on.

I don’t know how to link articles on my phone (from an app) JSonline had an article that they want yo recall assembly speaker Robin Voss, but question if they can recall him while maps are up in the air. I can’t stand voss, would love to see him unseated. He is in Whitewater area, I am in Milwaukee county, so won’t b able to vote for or against him. Apparently it is Republicans wanting to recall him b/c he refused to decertify the 2020 Elections. The latest thing they are upset about is he refused to attempt to impeach election administrator Megan Wolfe. www.jsonline.com/Not sure if that will work.

bills posts are invisible to me. and here is why- here is something you will never hear bills say: i am probably wrong. i know Wisconsin about as well as i know high fashion. how about you let me know how much of a shift you expect? My post was based on a general understanding of redistricting, not Wisconsin specifically. I did take the time to research for myself the current partisan percentages and which legislative positions are up for election in 2024. Based on that knowledge and information, I voiced doubt about the declaration in the OP, i.e. "Wisconsin will be blue in 2024." There is certainly the possibility my doubt is misplaced. I do work to avoid making any post in which I find it appropriate to declare "I am probably wrong". I tend to simply avoid topics I know nothing about or can't research to my satisfaction. Even with those postings, I am careful with indicating "doubt" and not "will not be". There is always the possibility, if not the probability, I could be wrong.

So sick of this GOP thing about impeaching everyone all the time. Everyone who is Dem, Left, Woke, anyway. So much drama. Save impeachment for things like fomenting insurrections.

i think it will backfire.
the lesson from Clinton to today is that depriving the people of their democratic choice for political reasons is a loser at the ballot box.
if anyone should know that it is Wisconsin (Walker).
