I did it. I have my bedroom back and made another Goodwill run. I should keep going as there are still a lot of hours left in the day (it is only 4pm here) but my back and hands (arthritis) tell me I am crazy and call it a day... I also now have at least 10 square inches of moving around room in the guest room Finishing the work this coming week is not going to be pretty/easy but I am going to try.

My hands are killing me, too. I just have 2 more drawer pulls to replace. Hope to get them done today, along with installing anti-slip stickers on the bathtub floor and scrubbing various and sundry.

DH went through one of his closets on Saturday. We took a car load to Goodwill Sunday. Including this rocker chair and ottoman that were dumped on us when a friend left town. They were nothing more than a dumping ground.
I finally emptied the 3 drawer cart that was blocking my shoe racks. I think I need one more set but it looks good now. The cart had random stuff I didn't want to trash but couldn't find a home easily. I finally gave myself permission to put it in a small box. Sometimes it has to be just good enough to continue making progress.
We have a house guest coming Thursday or Friday so the cleaning will continue this week. Both bathrooms the guest will use have been scrubbed.
Pictures will be hung today.

Contractor was here. The heavy rain we got totally pulled the drain tile from the downspout so instead of going to the front yard, the water was going right down my basement wall. Good news is no water got in the basement. That water runs under the house and in to the basin for the sump pump.
He fixed that and cleaned out the sump pump. He got everything ready for grass seeding tomorrow.

So am I.
He is very professional. He sent a picture by text of that downspout and I couldn't believe it. No rain runoff was going in to the drain tile to the front yard. Just going straight down my foundation.
I am going to call the city fo see if the rain runoff all going to one house was code when this was built. They are very clear that rain runoff can not be pushed on to a property that is not yours. Yet the builder did exactly that when the house was built.

3 pictures were hung on Monday. I also broke down the shoe boxes that had accumulated downstairs. And shipped off a gift so fewer things in my house.
I'm more confident we'll be ready Friday morning for the house guest.
The bits and pieces I've sorted the last few months have made it possible to do this big push now.
I wish I was faster and with a faster vision but everything I've done works for us and helps us maintain that thing.

wvugurl26 that sounds like great progress! Have fun with your guests! The new bed we ordered to replace DS1's which he's taking to their new house was supposed to arrive on Fri or Sat. In the end it's arriving on Tues. I'm a bit worried about taking DS1's bed downstairs to make room for the new bed. Happily DS3 arrives in mid May for 5 days. He can help his Dad with that.

I got the regular cans of stuff out of the basement to the dumpster, I swear I filled that thing half full, its embarrassing in all honesty. I didn't want hubs to see it.
I have some big juice cans and jugs to empty. Got the 20 pound bag of rice out there. Sadly mice has chewed into it, just a small spot but still unless I were starving, not eating it. Who knows what else they did, so wasteful.
The bags of sugar, salt, and baking soda are fine.
I also put more stuff out by the road, someone took all the stuff I put out yesterday. Today was 2 small trellises, a grab bar from a rental, and a box of garden seeds, hope some are good, and a pile of flower pots. Someone will take that stuff. And a roll of some kind of flooring, it's small. Whoever gets that stuff keeps it cleaned out, out there, LOL! I saw our rusty chair and tiny table set down the road at a house, fine with me.
There is so much more but things I can sell or try to sell we will.
Can you sell a child seat, its just the part that buckles in with the seat belt and they sit on it? Grandson doesn't need one in the back seat now.
I have more fabric to give away, may try to sell a bit of it and more books to get rid of, did 4 bags yesterday. Want to sort out what is left as some I have not read.
I am making a small dent in things.
One thing for sure, I told hubs we need to buy a house without stairs, in a few more years don't think I could get up and down.
For some reason I have trouble doing one foot after the other. My right foot is the bad one but I can lead with it and have trouble shifting to the left one, like going up every other step. So not sure what is going on with that.

countrygirl2 personally I would NOT try to sell an old car seat, but I would give it away to somebody who could use it. The norms are updated all the time, and the foam is only OK for a certain period of time, then it expires. I'm so happy you are finally decluttering!!! You've talked about it for MANY YEARS! I remember you've decluttered a bit here and there. But then you always bought A LOT MORE Stuff LOL. To be honest, if you have mice in your fabric, and you haven't realized it until now, you probably have too much Stuff. There's no point in keeping Stuff if you don't use it or if it gets infested. It sounds like you are finally committed now. That's great! Best of luck to you!

Car seats have expiration dates as I found out when I was finished baby sitting for my great niece and nephew.
When I got around to wanting to give them away (wanted to help someone), they were expired. I ended up taking them to Target during one of their trade in for car seats.

I have never heard of the trade-in here.
IMO those seats would be fine for occasional use (for US ... I don't mean selling them.)
We're keeping them for now ... we'll see if/when the next grandkids appear and revisit the question then.

This is the best thing I've done in a long time. We have 2 store rooms too in the basement and I'm clearing them. I'm touching nothing of hubs. He has stuff saved like door knob sets from rental houses. Like the old grab bar, why?? And somebody took it, soap covered and yucky, needs thoroughly cleaned, LOL!
Give me a few more months and my part will be done. I have decluttered before but never like this and DD said her stuff can go to. I haven't started on that yet.
Except for the staledated food the rest of this could have stayed here, but we are not about to spend the money to move this stuff. We hauled most of it from Texas. I brought up I don't know how many loads. I got rid of tons of hubs junk down there while he was overseas, he like to died. I told him I asked you specifically and you said yes so I did. Gave it to some folks that made their living off selling scrap metal and that is what it was. Pipes and stuff that would have been very difficult to move. He had a lot of scrape metal hauled off here last summer and he did do a cleaning in his garages, so its down, but man what he has out there, wow. But I can't worry about that, I'm taking care of what I want to keep.
Now I've gotten rid of odds and ends going to try and be methodical about it. I think I will stack up the canning jars and get rid of lots of those. That will clear out a lot of that store room, may put more boxes of salt at the blessing box. I bought a lot of those as it's something everyone needs and I figured if worse come to worse could have traded it. That's how paranoid I was during COVID.
I'm not leaving all this for others to mess with either. Besides certain things I want to save.
I have already done a total declutter of old meds, so that one is done. Purses are done. My clothing is pretty well done, will have to make another sweep of my closet. Have one more rack to look at downstairs. Need to work on Dd's too. Her stuff is a whole separate job, not even close to that.
In a few more years likely couldn't even get it out of the basement, so glad I'm doing it now. A 78 years old's lifetime accumulation, its tough.

The car seat is only a couple of years old.
We never had mice or anything until some holes were cut in some areas to the basement about a year or so ago. I or hubs have to get busy and find them though I think I know where they are. So much to do. I will need to find those places and repair with metal mesh to stop the critters.
I have donated tons of fabric already, but am keeping quite a bit too. I told hubs if I had to will haul it up there myself. I only want my sewing stuff and a small part of my canning stuff. I told him if he can spend $40 to $50k for a garage at sons, surely I can get a 3rd bedroom in a house for my stuff.

I think in the US the seats are only good for 5 years? I've heard the date is on them somewhere.

Slowly getting things back in place and culling items. Tonight is the second night in a row that I got rid of a big bag of craft materials through but nothing. I love the no contact aspect of this. I just put the items outside my door and, like magic, they disappear

Getting ready for Saturday's show now in progress. I have 3 totes with supplies and small equipment that we will need, that I must sort through to be sure we won't miss anything. It's surprising what you find you need at these events. Scissors, binder clips, microfiber cloths, pens and paper.
I just have one more drawer pull in the kitchen to get off so I can replace it with the new. And I need to put the final two pieces together for the patio/deck glider. I have to declutter the really big drawer which I have stuffed with miscellaneous baking and cooking equipment. No wonder I couldn't find a spatula recently!
Lawn guy came yesterday and did winter cleanup. THe yard looks great, and my front garden is full of blooming tulips in 4 colors. It looks happy.

I think in the US the seats are only good for 5 years? I've heard the date is on them somewhere. I think it was 5 years. Niece's husband showed me how to put the daughter in the car seat with winter coats on. It is not today's standard from what I have seen on tv. The car seat gave her way too much room to move with the winter coat. She was nice and snug the rest of the year. She's still with us, so we got lucky. I had less concern over the booster seat. They gave me an old expired booster to use with their son. He was only in my car from his house to school and back. Since I had the girl all day, we did actually go places.

So the last two weeks caught up with me this morning. I woke up tired at 7:45 and decided to turn over for a few minutes. A few minutes later I looked at the clock and it was close to 11am. Aliens must have invaded our universe and stolen a couple of hours. There is no other explanation

Actually that's what this seat is, it's a booster seat. No, I would not sell something like that. It's like the bottles of shampoo and cleaning products, most of those I'm putting out there have some used from them, so I wouldn't sell them. But people are happily taking all that stuff. I am going to put some more out plus a puzzle and a couple of books I've read. This is stuff I wouldn't even sell in a yard sale but figure some of the people here can use it. We have some really poor people in this town. I notice some of it doesn't get picked up till after dark, likely embarrassed to have anyone see them get it and that's ok, I understand.
Got my cabinets washed down, not as dirty as I thought but still needed it. I could not glue the paper, it was just out of reach, but I managed to tape it. Will need the taller ladder. It's the only border in the house and its above just the kitchen cabinets, its really cute. If I can get where I can reach it, there are 2 little pieces crumpled up too much. I will get a tiny vial of brown paint and dab it on those spots, you will not be able to tell the difference, it already looks better and I don't think hubs will notice.
I need to get a box and put this stuff in it and take it out to the road. Get rid of a bit more, everything gone is one more item gone, so that is a good thing.
I also need to get a poster of the sons of the pioneers framed, they all signed it for her and I have been intending to do it, I finally will.
Ok, a few more things to do, then I quit.

Contractor came today. Thinks the downspout looks good, but he thought that previously. Sump pump is dry.
He needs a transmission in his truck. Hopes to have truck back tomorrow to bring in dirt, grass seed and straw.

I put more stuff out by the road, a puzzle 2 books, stack of paper and plastic plates, I have more. bottles of various stuff and the booster seat.
There were 2 of the trellises left, the roll of floor cover and the grab bar, so brought them up and put in dumpster.
I put several jars and cans of liquid items in a bucket but didn't bring it up. I have fabric that I carried up, washing one load now and will do another. 2 cabinets are now empty, the other 2 are not as full as these were. It's all colors of dark blues and I have plenty so about half of this is going to donation. now I feel like I'm starting to make progress. I'm finally starting to see empty spaces all over.
When I come back from my trip and clean house up here, I will have hubs help me set up tables and will start getting things ready for a sale. Will mark prices so will clear out lots. If any sells, will have 2 or 3 sales and get rid of all the excess. Whether we live here or move, it will make it easier to keep everything clean. We have plenty of room here so it didn't look crowded or anything. You can get a lot of stuff in 3600 sq ft of house.
I guess we will really minimize things. And if I bring in a new decorator item an old item will go out. But I still have a long way to go.
Hubs fixed the electric he was having a problem with, he said he had to run a new wire. For him to admit he has no idea why is rare. But we both feel better it is safe. He has an good idea. Tomorrow he is going to identify all the circuits. He is getting colored dots, then put the corresponding color on each switch plate or receptacle that goes with that circuit, so you can see at a glance, I sure like that. That way we know which breaker goes with each circuit.
Ok, bathtime and kick back, found a movie on Tubi called Black Adam, it stars Wayne Johnson and I really like him.

I FINALLY got the “after” pics of my kitchen, even though I haven’t found drawer pulls yet. It’s online here if you’re interested : imgur.com/gallery/j3BTOj4It only took me 2 days of cleaning the kitchen and getting the dishes done, dried and put away so I could take pics. Today’s other accomplishment was to organize and label my stacking drawer organizer (the black unit under the window in the pics) with all the cat and dog stuff. I’d already decluttered it but I need labels to put things away in the right spots. That cabinet color is just
