I just received this from the IRS today. It looked fairly legit, other than the fact that we have not yet filed our taxes for 2022!
Our record indicate that we have received your tax return for the fiscal year 2023. However, upon review, we have identified certain inconsistencies or missing information that require your attention and clarification. You will receive a tax refund of $976.00 , We will process this amount once you have submitted the document we need for the steps to claim your tax refund. Date : Saturday, June 24, 2023 Sender : INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE To expedite the process and avoid further delays or penalties, we advise you to confirm the required document now . For your convenience, we recommend not using a prepaid card, because sending funds does not support this card
Of course, this is going into the trash, but it is pretty interesting to see them stepping up their game.

Two weeks after purchasing our brand spanking new vehicle, we started getting the “your warranty is expiring” snail mail.

I get those texts a lot.
I also get the car warranty mail and messages for my deceased father's 2006 Mercury, which he hasn't owned since 2013

I got the very same email. Even the same refund amount. I tried replying to at least get the tax year right, but it was of course not a real email address and came back as undeliverable.

Wait, if it's not a real email address, how does the scam work then? There's a link you click on to "log into your IRS info" that takes you to a site that requests all kinds of info like SS#, date of birth, etc.

I had to laugh though…….last time I ever received a refund from the IRS was somewhere around 2010. Even then, I had my taxes down to receiving less than a $200 refund, and once I actually was perfect on both state and fed taxes, didn’t owe, didn’t pay. I called that a win.

I get a lot of those ‘your Amazon account will be deleted unless you update your information in the attached link.”
Sure, the retail king is going to start wiping out the accounts of people who need to update their CC information.
Jerks.

I get these about PayPal too. I don’t have one of these. Also, banks I have never in my life banked at.
I did have to laugh though, I got another one yesterday. Now my refund is only $476.

Received a PayPal email yesterday. My account has been suspended (along with 99 other users whose email addresses were on full display). Contact them to get it up and running again! Nope. Have not used PayPal in 12-14 years?

I did get one the other day about refinancing the mortgage on my home. Yep, you guessed it, I don’t have a mortgage.

I do have Paypal. I don't get the suspension at the email where I have the account. I get them at my throw away email addresses.
I have gotten an "invoice" from Paypal that was actually in my account. I had not bought anything and there was an option to cancel, so that's what I did.
I also received a notice at the real Paypal address that $xxx had been paid to some company. Went in to my account and that had not happened.
I don't use it often but it's how the Toronto family reimburses me.

You'd better click that link quick and give them all your information, before you don't have any refund left! 😉
