Amazon is going to start charging for *some* returns.

Amazon is reportedly starting to charge a fee for some returns amid a crisis that's costing retailers millions every year

So, they got customers used to just dropping off packages at their local UPS store and now they're going to start charging for those returns.  For those who aren't so cost sensitive, this won't change anything about how they return amazon products and amazon is likely banking (pun intended) on that to a degree.  We're creatures of habit and many folx won't blink at $1.

It's interesting that the article mentions Kohl's as an alternative location for Amazon returns. It has been over a year or more since any of my Amazon returns have offered Kohl's as a return option. My only free option is the UPS store. While the UPS store is closer to my house, Kohl's is only maybe 2.5 miles further away. Also the parking lot at Kohl's is much better. It's just for Kohl's not 15 other businesses including a grocery store, liquor store, pizza joint, gym, and other restaurants.

All the returns for the past 12 months have been to Kohl’s except for 1 item. I had to return that item to the UPS Store itself. It doesn’t matter for me either way. I tend to do my Kohl’s returns when I’m killing time when my oldest is in gymnastics class.

I think my GF does returns at Kohl's.  Don't they also give a $5 credit for in-store shopping with an Amazon return?

I have yet to be offered Kohl's as an option for returns.  

The UPS store has now set up a separate line for prepaid returns.

Kohls did offer a $5 coupon the few times I was able to return there. It's been closer to 2 years though since that's been an option.

I have to do a Kohls pickup this week. They moved the pickup back to where the Amazon returns counter was. I will have to see if it is even still there. The local Kohls didn't offer Amazon returns until they rolled it out nationwide.

I have never been given a choice other than UPS, so I guess mine will still be free. I don't do a lot of returns anyway, so that $1 wouldn't bother me too much.

After working at a another company's distribution center, I get it. How often do people order 2 of something maybe in a different size at the same time, knowing they can easily return 1? To me, $1 would isn't enough to dissuade me from that convenience.

I have returned two items via Kohl's in the past month.  Each time, I got a 25% off coupon for Kohl's.

I usually try to avoid returning to Kohl's unless I have to go there anyways.  The UPS Store is close to my work and a quick in and out.  25% off or $5.00 coupon makes little difference to me, I Hate shopping at Kohl's, and even when I earn Kohl's Cash, I often let it go.  I have a hard time finding stuff I want, and I often change my mind and return stuff.  When Kohl's cash is involved and I am doing a return, I mostly feel like I am on the losing end of things.

I stopped in at my Mom's on my lunch hour.  She was just going to head out to the grocery store.  She was doing well today, and she would not listen to me if I tried to get her to stay home anyways.  I am tired today, and I am hungry.  My stomach feels kind of unsettled, but I am probably hungry for junk and I am trying to be on a diet.  I had a Bagel for Breakfast and a Banana and a Salad for lunch.  I also have an apple and some carrots for snacks, but idk if I will eat them before I leave for the day.

I have to remit this week's payroll taxes, and last week's 401k this afternoon and I am working on 1st Quarter Financial Statements for one of the companies I work with.

I’ve been returning things at Whole Foods recently. Yesterday I was in and out in about one minute returning a few things.

I've been doing Kohl's for a while now, more than a year I think. I don't return things often but there is  a Kohl's nearby which has been nice.
