This afternoon, I went to the grocery store. The lot's not that big, plus I only have about 6 weeks left on my state h/c placard, so I parked in a regular spot and walked into the store. I got hassled when I got back to my car about NOT parking in a h/c spot because I could.

You could park in the closest spot. By not using a spot I couldn't use, you took a closer spot that I could use and gave me a farther walk. Unless you parked at the other side of the parking lot, park in the damn spot already!

I personally wouldn't complain, but the reality is that the handicapped spaces are nearly always vacant while the "common peon" spots are jam-packed.
By not using your handicapped spot, it is highly probable that you are unnecessarily depriving a peon of a parking space.

I agree with the others. Occasionally I have the same feeling about carpoolers in "my" lanes. Don't clog my lanes up and get in in your own lane already

Unless there is a downpour, I always park far away. I laugh at the people who actually sit and wait for a closer spot. Talk about freaking lazy.

Not around here. Yesterday, I bypassed a trip to Sam's because I'd have had to walk in from the far end of the lot. Nothing at the grocery store yesterday either. It didn't help that it was raining and I was aching and actually looking for a h/c space. I bailed on the store yesterday.
Today, not as much of an ache so thought I'd take advantage of it. No h/c spaces again today at the grocery store, but was able to find one near the cart corral and use a cart to help.

I can't wait to rock a bikini on my trip. I still have about 7 pounds I want to lose.
