there does not appear to be a thread on the Dominion Lawsuit. but it certainly deserves one. the revelations are striking, and would be fatal to most news networks that were not presiding over a cult. this is right out of the Q-Anon playbook:
so, again, the CAMPAIGN that Trump has been waging was started from ONE document by, effectively, a crazy person. it was repeated endlessly by Sydney Powell and Rudy Giuliani, but it has ZERO basis in fact. it came from the wind. literally.
i think the most interesting thing is that Tucker Carlson, apart from being an outrageous liar and coward, appears to be fairly normal underneath. he doesn't believe ANY of what he is saying. he knows he is lying. he knows he is not a newsman.
this thread is for all things Dominion related as this unfolds.

i should mention that this story about how the election fraud myth started was, to my knowledge, unknown until the Dominion lawsuit leaks. because of that, and a rather extensive interview by The Daily Beast, we now know exactly how it started. and it could not be crazier. i mean, this is PizzaGate crazy. and it is now believed by approximately 1/3 of the voting public.
sickening.
FOX is utterly irresponsible. which, as luck would have it for them, is not against the law.
except when it is.

I was reading an article the other day saying the Murdoch has been sued a LOT (I had forgotten about the big stink in Britain a while back where his reporters had tapped into private conversations of various famous actors and politicians). Generally he settles out of court, but this time he can’t because he would have to admit that Fox knowingly pushed the Big Lie.

Generally he settles out of court, but this time he can’t because he would have to admit that Fox knowingly pushed the Big Lie. if some of you are wondering after reading this: well, why doesn't he just admit it, and settle out of court? and there is a very good reason for that. for about 48 hours after the election, FOX was telling the truth. they said Trump lost, and suggest their audience get over it. their ratings PLUMMETED (this is all part of the Dominion suit, in case you are wondering about the relevance), so they reversed course, and started lying. in other words, if they admit they are lying on air, and do the right thing, it would probably bankrupt FOX News. which would be great for America, and terrible for Murdoch. in other words, don't count on it. edit: ironically, and deliciously, he is in a lose lose situation, now. his cheapest path out is getting the damages down to far less than $1.6B, although as i pointed out earlier, FOX is worth $17.6B, so $1.6B is only a 9% hit. in other words, losing billions is better for him than telling the truth. talk about perverse.

Did Dominion also sue Giuliani, Powell and Lindell too? If not they should have.

Did Dominion also sue Giuliani, Powell and Lindell too? If not they should have. Nichols last year rejected efforts by Powell and fellow Trump allies Rudy Giuliani and Mike Lindell to dismiss Dominion's defamation claims. Each of them is named in separate Dominion lawsuits.
Dominion has also sued Fox News Network and other conservative news outlets, alleging they gave a platform to false statements about its role in the 2020 election.

Voter selection starts today, unless they come to some negotiated agreement. I don’t imagine Dominion would agree to that unless Fox admitted they pushed the Big Lie knowing it was a lie.

I have to admit when I heard the news story about the old white guy who shot a 16 year old black boy who came up to his house and rang his doorbell my first thought was ‘that’s a Fox News addict.
Not entirely fair, could be NewsMax.
Shot the kid twice, thank goodness he is ok. Old racist crank faces two felony charges.

She said all they do is watch Fox News and they are so worried about crime. If she tells her mom she is going to run an errand after work, her mom worries until she hears she is safe and sound at home. Yeah, racist and tuned into the GOP echo chamber.

Dominion and Donald Trump put Fox News between a rock and a dumb placeWith Dominion Voting Systems’ defamation case against Fox News set to begin, my friends at the network, of whom I have none, find themselves in a bind. They’re wedged between a known lie they promoted – the preposterous claim that voting machines “rigged” the 2020 election against former President Donald Trump – and the ever-needy, endlessly noisy former president himself, who wants Fox News to keep lying so he can keep believing he won, and keep fleecing suckers who share that belief. It seems clear the alleged news organization’s best option was to settle the case, admit the network promoted the enormous lie that the 2020 election was stolen and start moving tractor-trailers filled with cash to Dominion’s headquarters. With the trial expected to start Tuesday in Delaware, that doesn't appear to be happening. Dominion has Fox News in a viceFox News’ reputation has taken a beating from just the pretrial court documents released to the public, which showed, via electronic messages and quotes from depositions, that executives and hosts sure seemed to know that the claims against Dominion were baseless. The network could prevail in the case, but even if it does, imagine what weeks of trial coverage featuring testimony from blunt instruments like Maria Bartiromo, Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity might do. Wow is that not the kiss of death - taking advice from the guy currently juggling about six major lawsuits. Murdoch doesn’t need it, though. He’s a pro at getting sued himself.

Fox News settles with Dominion at the last second, averting defamation trial over its 2020 election lies
Wilmington, Delaware CNN — The judge just announced in court that a settlement has been reached in the historic defamation case between Fox News and Dominion Voting Systems. “The parties have resolved their case,” Superior Court Judge Eric Davis said. “Your presence here… was extremely important. And without you, the parties would not have been able to resolve their situation,” the judge told the jurors, before dismissing them. The settlement was apparently brokered while the trial was on the brink of opening statements in Wilmington, Delaware. After swearing in the jury earlier Tuesday, an unexplained hours-long delay paused proceedings in court, which yet again triggered rampant speculation that a deal was quietly in the works. The last-minute deal means the closely watched case is effectively over and won’t proceed to trial. By settling with Dominion, influential Fox News executives and prominent on-air personalities will be spared from testifying about their 2020 election coverage, which was filled with lies about voter fraud. Details of the settlement were not immediately available, and might never become public. More: Fox News settles with Dominion at the last second, averting defamation trial over its 2020 election lies

Fox has no journalistic standards. This settlement proves this.
Fox's official statement regarding the settlement from the above post's link:
“We acknowledge the court’s rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false. This settlement reflects Fox’s continued commitment to the highest journalistic standards,” the Fox statement said. “We are hopeful that our decision to resolve this dispute with Dominion amicably, instead of the acrimony of a divisive trial, allows the country to move forward from these issues.”

Trump calls on Rupert Murdoch to back false 2020 election fraud claims ahead of Dominion trialFormer President Donald Trump on Monday called on Rupert Murdoch to back false information about the 2020 presidential election ahead of the $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit Dominion Voting Systems has pursued against Fox News and its parent company. Trump on Truth Social alleged that Fox News is “in big trouble if they do not expose the truth on cheating in the 2020 election.” There is no evidence of widespread voter fraud that would have impacted the outcome of the 2020 race for the White House. The former president suggested that the media tycoon and chair of the Fox Corporation “should say that ‘he just didn’t know,’ but that is hard to believe.” “Rupert, just tell the truth and good things will happen,” Trump added. Very senior moment: which other company? Smartmatic? Ahhh. Smartmatic Vows to ‘Expose the Rest’ of Fox News’ Alleged ‘Misconduct’ After Dominion Settles Massive Lawsuit: Report
In the wake of Dominion Voting Systems settling its defamation lawsuit against Fox News for $787.5 million – just under half of the $1.6 billion it had sued for – Smartmatic, which is suing the right wing cable network for $2.7 billion, is vowing to “expose” the rest of the “misconduct” it is alleging. “Dominion’s litigation exposed some of the misconduct and damage caused by Fox’s disinformation campaign. Smartmatic will expose the rest,” the company said in a statement, as The New York Times reports.
