We've had two people they put on PIPs here. Both are still employed. One actually got promoted not that long after she was put on a PIP. The other person was demoted to a Tech 3 from an Associate. Then we have Captain Dipshit who has 20 active corrective actions and apparently walks on water. Then there is me. I have no fucking clue what is going on in this place. Regardless either I need to get out from under her either promotion (the job is under a different manager I get along fine with), moving to another department or leaving the company all together. Probably the last one. I can't keep playing this game where two weeks into the month I am an excellent employee and told my metrics have improved significantly. . . Then two weeks later I am the scourge of the lab single handedly destroying everyone's productivity. That is way too much chain jerking for me to want to put up with at my age. I am more confident nowadays about having options even if I don't like all the options. DH carries our health insurance so that pressure is off my back. I may have poor self esteem and imposter syndrome but I've been around the block long enough now to know that I don't have to tolerate abuse because I somehow owe it to them for hiring me.

Bloodwork done. I'm walking down the hall to go to my car and notice there is blood running down my arm. So back I go. By then it had stopped bleeding but she wrapped it. That must smell like a hospital because the cats won't come near me. The plebotomist did tell me that yesterday a woman pulled the bandage off in the hall and the blood was spurting. That became a hazardous clean up. Why would you take the bandage off that soon? The woman didn't want to wear it to work. So she got the wrap instead. While I don't pull off a bandage that fast I do wonder why that woman's blood was "spurting" and not just an itsy bitsy little bit but enough that it warranted a "hazardous clean up"? And then you had to go back today because blood was running down your arm? Seems to me that they have seriously inept plebotomists working at that place! I thought the same thing about the plebotomist as I drove home. I've had lots of blood draws and this has never, ever happened. It also hurt when she stuck me with the needle. Usually I don't feel anything. I am not on blood thinners. There is a sign in the room to the tell the plebotomist if you are on blood thinners

All blood is hazardous clean up because you can never be 100% sure people aren't carrying something contagious. Not everyone is truthful about their medical history. Doesn't matter the size of the spill body fluids are considered biohazardous . .period. The stuff you can get from blood is stuff you DO NOT want to take a chance on. Which means proper PPE for clean up and proper cleaning supplies and documentation. There are levels of biohazard clean-up. For a small spill gloves are fine, possibly a face shield depending on where/how much you are cleaning. You'd want a gown for a larger spill but still easily cleaned up by one person. If you bled all over the room that would require a containment unit. Which is sounds like this lady may have sprayed in a waiting room. So yes that requires hazardous clean up because other people may come into contact with it both physically and on their clothing/shoes thus tracking it all over the rest of the facility. You would be surprised how many people just walk straight through shit they really shouldn't. I'm a bleeder. The nurse who took my blood the last time I had it done for a wellness check at work managed to shift the needle just right that I spurted EVERYWHERE. It was pretty impressive I almost hit the person across from me at the table. I warned her. She spent the next 10 minutes cleaning up and did not appreciate me pointing out all the droplets. Pretty sure I hit the wall behind her.

I know for me my left arm is useless for drawing blood, but my right arm is a geyser. Maybe that other lady has something similar.

So many abbreviations like this are used on here, that I don't know what they mean. I'm not ignoring people/texts, but usually don't comment, if I don't know. What seems obvious to one person, may be unclear to another, or have a different meaning, making it hard. DS= dear son, or dear sister? Easily confused. But maybe you don't care? Your choice. I don’t use DS cause I think dip stick or dip shit when I see it! I just google some of the alphabet words and hit and sometimes google just LOL and asked WTFDYM!!

oh boy. LD has been pacing a little more than just late dinner (I was still cooking at EOB and it needed to cool before I fed them dinner) but thunder has been rumbling over the last 15-20min. so, he's gotten a CBD treat and I'm apparently probably sleeping on the couch tonight once I get downstairs. dinner is cooking now. Will set an alarm for midnight-ish, just in case. in comparison? Punk is out cold on my kitchen floor.

Before my kids were born, NomoreDramaQ1015, I had the supervisor from h#ll. I'm sure she was probably a "mean girl" in high school, because she just LOVED dragging people down during their reviews. Of course, the company was trying to push people out before they were fully vested in the profit-sharing program, so she just plain found her dream job working there. You could walk on water, and she'd find ONE incident, and write it up like you'd murdered someone. Of course that was the one company where us girls would occasionally go drinking for lunch. I remember how thankful I was when I got a different job and got out of there. Did I mention how delighted I was when the company consolidated, and my old work location was shut down within a couple of years after I left? You might be doing a good performance, but you'll never hear it from that type of person.

I did accomplish some today.
I vacced my car out, pulled some long grass that came up on the edges in the carport, blowed off the concrete, sidewalks, and patio.
Got my d/w loaded its still working fine, washed a couple loads of clothes. Set up my water filter, talked to hubs a couple of times. DIL brought me a glass jar to my fish grease in to dispose of. Seems odd not to just throw it out in the far back yard. But I also have relaxed today with no telly on.
I cleaned the bottom half of the shower, will do the top when I shower tonight, lot easier to do that way. It looks ok, but I want something to make it shine, not just here but home too.
I think I have our insurance in place, the initial quote is $832 for ONE car every 6 months, that is awful, but it is what it is.
DIL has not shown up yet with little guy, thought he was coming over today.
I really like it here and hubs does not. He was saying why don't you and DD just go back and forth like you are and I will just come up sometimes. I don't really want to do that. I told him lets see what his test says on the 17th. If they got it all, that is one thing if not, well I think we need to move and get it over with. He just does not want to live up here, poor guy. I told him I really don't want to live apart, we have done that most of our lives and I like him being around. I told him going to be really hard to move when we get older, hard enough now.
It is a beautiful day, 75 out but a definite nip in the air.
When I called hubs he asked me if I could hear Tigger purring, he said he has been on my lap ever since I sat down and is purring like crazy but I couldn't hear him. He likes hubs and he is a huge kitty. Smoke was in, I figure he is lost without me or DD there. Poor baby.
Now I have to think about dinner.

You might be doing a good performance, but you'll never hear it from that type of person. That happened to me. I signed what seemed to be a fair review then the director came by and asked why I had signed such a bad review. The mean girl had made out two reviews and superimposed the one bad one on the good one I signed. Then they wondered why I didn't apply for a FT job. To add to the mess, I was told that I would not have a job if I didn't apply for the FT job. No communication of this to my immediate supervisor. I'm sure my supervisor was confused when I did not return for the new year without a word from me other than I turned in my door key in front of two observers. This was to avoid being accused of future wrong doing. Also to let me know how unliked I was, no one called to see what happened. The root problem was they were alcoholics.

When DS had to switch his seizure meds, the state of FL would NOT cover the new med. I was literally at the mercy of the drug manufacturer to get an affordable price, as it was over $1,000 a month, not exactly in our budget. We did manage to get a discount, but that, and the problems with finding a primary physician were the big reasons why we didn't stay in that state. I've mentioned before that even with good insurance, there were long wait times to get doctor appointments too. Loved the people in that state, but couldn't get out of there fast enough. I sincerely hope you have a much better experience countrygirl2. Liked for you getting out, not for the hard time you had.

Downloaded my VISA statement, verified it against receipts and posted in Quicken. DH shopped for his side dish for tomorrow, and washed a load of his clothes. I texted the next door neighbor about tomorrow's tree trimming. countrygirl2 I'm glad you found some car insurance - the rates are really high now due to cost of parts and fraud

LD has been softly snoring for a little while now, even when I ran upstairs to pee during hockey intermission. Punk might kill me in my sleep tonight, but I'm def staying down here with/for him. I also checked in on FB with similar content, so if Punk does actually do me in, the well-being check won't take too long. lol...

Promotion after PIP has to be a red flag for inept management and/or HR. Her direct manager put her on a PIP. She says she was totally blind sided as well. She got off the PIP. The position opened up after. Her direct manager was opposed. Upper management in our department wanted her to apply anyhow. They removed him from the hiring panel. She got the position. So you can see my confusion because I've understood PIPs to be the last step before termination. Upper management likes me. There has to be consensus on scoring employees but IDK if they would go to bat or just let her give me a 4. The director pushed for me to start doing HPLC. I could tell she wasn't happy because she kept stressing it came directly from him and she was expected to make it happen. So IDK. I suppose we'll see. DH said maybe I'll get an offer for one of those jobs and it'll be a non issue come June. Captain Dipshit can have my job since he walks on water according to my manager.

In the "be prepared" category I booked my flight to Germany in December on Monday and today I added my medical travel insurance. DS2 and family will only be able to visit for one* week in August so I had to do something.
* they will go to Texas for two weeks but that is totally fair as DDIL's parents can't handle those international trips anymore due to health problems. I can and do and get my additional cuddle time around the holidays.

And he ate tons of stuff they say is bad for dogs.
He ate three bags of mini chocolate bars as.a puppy.
He'd eat his entire body weight in grapes if you'd let him.
Loved tuna (too much mercury they say)
Ate an entire pan of brownies.
Dad said maybe you're not supposed to feed them all that because it actually makes them immortal.

We went to get the ingredients for my lasagna I'm making tomorrow. DD wanted Sonic so we each had a breakfast burrito, it was really good.
I like Haggens, their meat and fish is so good, but they are expensive. I did ok as I bought the store brands of items on some things. And other items I won't buy the like sodas, can get cheaper at Walmart. Still grocery prices here are not that much higher than home where wages are much less.
Hubs is just wanting to continue like we are. Except come up for longer periods of time and not move. That may change when we get his report on the 17th. I understand him not wanting to move.
Gotta go little guy is here.

Good morning, artful invisible practitioners of diplomacy in worlds where you may be the foreigner. Welcome to Thursday. I hope this day no bad managers or neighbors disturb your equilibrium, and pets provide entertainment and comfort. It's definitely NOT YOU NomoreDramaQ1015 . Hearty congratulations to your DS, minnesotapaintlady , and to you for getting him to this finish line. Good for you staying safe, soupandstew . THe flooding down there has given the rest of the world some crazy pictures. Today I will be getting ready for tomorrow's trip to Denver. I'll only be there really for one full day, Saturday; leaving Sunday quite early. Hope I don't get a headache this trip. I haven't put the purple streak in my hair yet. Today may be the day. Yesterday we got buckets of rain and thunder in the evening. Earlier it was overcast and dark. The before-dawn period was pretty good. This was taken while standing on enormous, house-sized rock at the start of the beach, looking east past the park building:

Proud of DD. I had not had a chance to talk to her since she got home from her trip until last night. She said my mom refused to go and had not talked to her the last 2 weeks. Last time was mom doing her passive aggressive BS and DD said she doubts she talks her any time soon - and that she is ok with that. Quote from DD:
It took me almost 50 years to get there with my mom.
Need to get packed up. Will head to facility around 630 and flight out tonight boards at 6, with an hour drive to the airport. Trip has gone well, but anxious to get home. The way things have been with DH lately I dreaded this trip. I should be home now until mid June. DH's surgery is the 23rd, and I'm not entirely unsure that manager won't spring another trip on me before then.

I read a CNN article which said Siamese cats have a lifespan of 11 years. Sushi is 18. Articles vary quite a lot. I have read 16-20 isn't uncommon for siamese. My two are 16 & 16.5. Both are on treatments. One for Pancreatitis (B12 shot every 3 weeks) and one for blood pressure. A sudden extreme high blood pressure last summer nearly killed her.

One of mine needs "steps" as well. She has a bit of a limp and her front legs are kind of bowed. The other one has no problems getting up and down, but she is having vision problems now so she misjudges height and distance.

Drama, My bet is that you are just caught in politics while being supervised someone that doesn't know how to do it well.
It also appears that there could be good leadership somewhere in your org. You just have to find it.
That sums up my experience as well. Except I don't think there is good leadership anywhere in my org. Though, that could be changing.
The most helpful thing right now for me is to remember that my supervisor does not want to be in a relationship with me. For me, it eliminates the constant reading into things to try and figure out if I'm on their good side or not. I just do my job, get in, and get out.
It also helps me focus on the good parts of my job: I like the work; I like the people that I work with.
We also need toxic positivity. Like, we're on the Titanic while it's sinking and we say things like "This will be a great opportunity for me! I've always wanted to swim in the ocean!" or "Half the ship is submerged? That's not right! We're all fine. It's just my eyes are playing tricks on me because it is dark out!"
If I detach enough, I can also do the toxic positivity without feeling badly or crying afterwards. Which does help things quite a bit.
And then it demonstrates that i am a team player.
