Saw this first thing this morning.
99 is quite an accomplishment.

I wonder if Queen Elizabeth II will step down now. I hope not. Losing your husband and giving up your job seems like a recipe for bad mental health.

I wonder if Queen Elizabeth II will step down now. Why would she? Queen Victoria didn't.

I wonder if Queen Elizabeth II will step down now. Why would she? Queen Victoria didn't. I know Queen Victoria didn't. Prince Philip was her key advisor from all I've ever heard or read. I would just be ready to throw in the towel myself.

I wonder if Queen Elizabeth II will step down now. Why would she? Queen Victoria didn't. Elizabeth is 94 years old. Queen Victoria was 42 when her husband Albert died. Age may be the reason Elizabeth steps down now in the near future.

It wouldn't surprise me if Elizabeth dies within a year or so. Many people who lose their long term partners follow them shortly. They do make it sound like he was very key in every aspect of her life. She may struggle without him. I doubt she will step down, but I don't really know much about the royals, so I could be way wrong.

It's probably not realistic but I would hope the world offers the family as much privacy as possible.

Didn't I read somewhere that someone recently gifted the Queen with 2 corgis? I know her other dogs had passed. Maybe those around her could see the writing on the wall regarding her husband...

He was 99 and looked like he jumped out of a zombie movie. If someone didn't think death was imminent, they are clearly not part of reality and should be in conservatorship.

Someone of his calibre and level of service should have had a State funeral but we have got Covid......... so that won't be happening.

He didn't want a lot of pomp, etc. From what I've read so far today, they will follow his wishes. And it said some place that those who were planning the events for when he died....he out-lived many of them.

I'm happy for his spirit that they are honoring his wishes. I would like to think that would have been the case even without COVID, but who knows.

This is my favourite picture of them. He dressed up as a Palace Guard to "prank" her. He still made her laugh.

For Prince Philip ....Its codenamed.....Operation Forth Bridge.
(The Queens is London Bridge and Prince Charles is Menai Bridge) The Queen mother's was operation Tay Bridge .... but they had to use it for Diana. These things get rehearsed regularly.
There is some navy guns going off today....... but the Royals would normally have their coffins paraded through the street on a gun carriage. but they don't want crowds ...or flowers.
