Interesting. I wondered why it was not parked prominently at PBIA. Now I know. Fitting that it is slowly but surely meeting its end, corroding in obscurity. Same thing should only happen to its owner.

Trump will strip the gold out of it and sell it for scrap.

Perhaps he is waiting for some vandals/thieves to have a go at it so he can make an insurance claim on it and whatever that was not in the plane but was stolen (I'm sure he's got a list of of the really valuable stuff he's accidentally left on the plane that he was planning to go back for soon (but just couldn't find the time) that he can put in a claim and have the Insurance pay for.) Perhaps he's got some way to "write off" the expenses of fixing up the plane without actually fixing the plane (the article does say it could be high 6 figures) Perhaps he's got some way to "write off" the total loss of the plane when he goes to sell it for the $100 million it use to be "worth" From an article in 2016 www.aerotime.aero/22867-facts-donald-trumps-boeing-757

It's the same way he values everything else he owns. It's worth $100 million. $8 million for the plane itself and $92 million for his name being on it.

Yeah, I wonder how big the loan is on the money used to purchase and 'modify' the plane... perhaps he has defaulted on the loan? Having the lender have to take a useless airplane and take a loss on the money they didn't collect from trump - isn't unthinkable. Actually, it's kind of one of the first thoughts that come to mind when wondering why trump is letting the plane rot.

So he probably paid too much for it, sank a ton of money into gold plated everything inside it, and is now stuck with an asset worth maybe 7-10 million, just a fraction of what he spent on it- and that’s just if it’s working, and it needs about 100 k to get one of the engines working.
I don’t know why people think he’s some great business man. Even if he got it running, what kind of market is there for gaudy 757s from the 90s?
Also - he has no family crest. When he bought his Scottish property he stole that coat of arms that used to own it.

that is about half of why I like this article, happy.
it shows that what he MOST enjoys in life is frivolous extravagance for HIM. and when it is inconvenient to him, he casts his playthings aside and lets his assets (including his businesses) languish in neglect.
it is how he ran the country, as well.
the country is just like that 757. without the gilding.

Hmmm, interesting to me. We saw that thing a few years ago while we were traveling. It was parked on the tarmac out of the way at La Guardia airport at the time. Trump was already president, and it seemed to be just sort of pushed out of the way there. I had a similar thought- I wonder what it costs him to park that there? Not being an aviator it didn't strike me that it SHOULD have at least been under cover, and probably in a dry climate. I guess they finally limped it off to a less expensive place to store it and let it decay.

I remember an article I read about Trump Tower several years back commented on how the fake marble pillars in the grand entranceway were peeling. Exactly the MO of a snake oil salesman - slap some glitter on the surface of some substandard crap and try to peddle it as very high end. Trump steaks, Trump university, Trump water, it’s what he always does.

Has trump hoodwinked the museum? I'm sure there's a feeling of "oooo trump is so clever! He's got the real one and the museum (an authority figure of the upper crusty people who go to museums) has a fake one but won't admit it!!!" (not to mention I'm pretty sure that's a plot for numerous movies/books and TV shows. (The Thomas Crown Affair as a book? and movie? and I know the TV show Hustle did a show on this theme... I don't remember 100% but I think they stole the real painting from a thief and put it in the museum - and put the museum's fake in the thief's collection )

I read the gold was 24k and cost $250,000 to put it in the plane, who knows.
How in the world will he travel? He lost his yacht that he had to sell years ago. Now no private plane, oh my. I guess he will have to do charters, but he doesn't pay for anything so who will do business with him? God forbid he has to fly, commercial, oh woe is me, they just couldn't handle it.
The high flyer is now at Mar A Lago which is closed down because of covid. He has HIGH expenses and sounds like little money coming in. I guess he is talking casino at Doral, but they said people there aren't thrilled about something like that as all his others went bankrupt. How in the hell does a casino go bankrupt?
putin has probably cut him off now he didn't "win", I'm sure he had a lot at stake. He did a good job of destroying America, bet he was paid well for it. But now he is a has been so worth nothing.
I went back and read the article, I didn't realize he had a Cessna, oh my what a come down. But I at least know the poor man doesn't have to fly commercial yet.

it is also quite thin. he knows that.
the plating PROCESS is more costly than the gold.

it is actually faster, more efficient, and cheaper to fly than the 757.
it is about $8,000/hr -vs- $18,000/hr.
he is stupid to have the 757. it is a complete waste of money. no sensible businessman would ever have it. Paul Allen was smart to it.

Nice plane, still so mundane for him. Not flashy enough and only holds 8. Come on, this just isn't trump level, LOL!

Nice plane, still so mundane for him. Not flashy enough and only holds 8. Come on, this just isn't trump level, LOL! it's actually kindof practical.
if you think about it, let's say you own a business in Queens that has a division in Palm Beach. that plane will handle 8, easily. it is a (3) hour trip. that is $24,000.
you really can't even get a flight between those airports. so if your people are executives, the cost of flying them is really high to get them to an airport. if you have a private plane, you can do a meeting in Palm Beach ALL IN ONE DAY with a private plane, rather than paying for an overnight trip.
I am not saying that this sort of aircraft pays dividends. but it might quasi make sense if you use it enough, and you have a specific purpose for it, as illustrated above. Trump MIGHT conceivably have such a purpose. but there is no way in HELL a 757 meets that purpose. it is utterly impractical, except for an airline.

He is stupid to have bought it, and even stupider to tart it up with all that gold and extremely expensive fabrics that will do nothing but appreciate. It’s like buying a 1990 4 bedroom house in a neighborhood where the average price is 300K, then adding marble floors, a sauna, a tennis court, custom velvet drapes, and gourmet kitchen appliances. You’ve still just got a 1990 house in a neighborhood of 300K, you’ll never recoup all the money you blew on the high end extras. He can’t sell the plane without taking a huge loss, and he hates to be a loser, so it sits there, probably until he’s forced to sell it to try to scrape up money for that big debt that’s coming due in a few years.

Trump Gives Weird Update on CNN’s Weird Story About Trump’s Busted Private Jet Sitting in Upstate New York
May 22, 2021 Ex-President Donald Trump — The Former Guy to some — delivered an odd update to a two month-old CNN exposé on the decrepit state of Trump’s private jet, a Boeing 757 that’s just sitting on a tarmac in upstate New York. In March, CNN delivered news that nobody was asking for when it published a report containing a lot of details sure to fascinate and delight Trump opponents with nothing else to do, like the plane’s state of disrepair and idleness since Trump left office — but little in the way of valuable news: Trump’s personal Boeing 757 was always the crown jewel of his wealth — the ultimate sign that he had made it. He’s used it as a backdrop for sleek photo shoots, campaign rallies, VIP tours, for shots of him eating his Big Macs and KFC, plated, with a knife and fork. Trump loved to show it off — the customized cream-colored leather seats, gilded bathrooms, the seat buckles layered in 24-karat gold. But today it sits idle on an airport ramp in Orange County, New York, about 60 miles north of Manhattan. One engine is missing parts. The other is shrink-wrapped in plastic. The cost to fix and get it flyable could reach well into the high six-figures, a price-tag Trump doesn’t appear to be dealing with right now. Though the current state of his finances aren’t public, the Covid-19 pandemic has taken a toll on the hospitality industry home to so many of his businesses. Flight records accessed by CNN show the 757 hasn’t been flown at all since Inauguration Day, when Trump’s use of Air Force One ended, leaving him to less showy modes of transport. For some reason, two months to the day after that report landed with a thud, Trump put out one of his non-tweets that come via email from his PAC, full of sunny promises for the future of the plane that nobody was asking about two months age, but essentially confirming CNN’s report, all while claiming that “many people” are dying to know what’s up with the plane: Statement by Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the United States of America Many people have asked about the beautiful Boeing 757 that became so iconic during the Trump rallies. It was effectively kept in storage in Upstate New York in that I was not allowed to use it during my presidency. It is now being fully restored and updated and will be put back into service sometime prior to the end of the year. It will soon be brought to a Louisiana service facility for the completion of work, inspection and updating of Rolls-Royce engines, and a brand new paint job. When completed, it will be better than ever, and again used at upcoming rallies! A weary world can rest easy. Article here: link

How do you transport a plane from NY to LA when it can’t be flown?
