If we are going to be strict constitutionalists they Ms. Barret should not be up for nomination at all. She should be in the home where she belongs. After all only land owning gentry over the age of 25 were allowed to have any say in politics when the constitution was written.
Funny how people forget that.

What if Judge Barrett was a Muslim instead of a Catholic?

What if Judge Barrett was a Muslim instead of a Catholic? I don't understand imagine the outcry if she belonged to a strict muslim sect that required women to be subservient to men, she taught at a madrassa, and chose the koran as th guiding principle in her life

Men are ‘heads’ and until recently women were ‘handmaids’. Hmmmmmm.

Really, Sen. Cruz? This is what you asked Judge Barrett
After speaking for over 20 minutes, ... 1. How long have you played the piano? 2. Do the kids do piano lessons as well? 3. You and your husband have seven kids. How did you manage with the distance learning? What was that like in the Barrett household? 4. What advice would you give little girls?

Eating up his minutes? Signaling to the Democrats she is going to be voted in no matter what they ask her?

Also think it's strategy on some level on their part even if it's sexist strategy. They are trying to paint her as a wholesome good white woman the type you WANT on the Supreme Court not like those uppity Ruth Ginseburg's of the world.

So I'm not watching so I've only seen news clips and headlines. And my impression on that is this woman either lives under a rock or is outright lying.
She says she had no idea trump promised to stack the court to get aca overturned and maybe even roe, yet found herself appointed as a judge not long after her published criticism of a sc aca ruling.
She also claims to have no idea that calling LGBTQ a lifestyle is offensive. Which has been widely known for years and years.

She's lying and refusing to give straight answers to questions. She straight up said she will not be answering any hypothetical questions. Um, this is basically a job interview. You answer hypotheticals in an interview.

the correct reply by the Senate would be:
"if you refuse to answer questions, then we can't confirm you"
otherwise, this crap will go on forever.

They are going to confirm her. It doesn't matter what she says, its going to happen. Why watch this car wreck play out in real time?

I would advise the Dems to add two justices next year, it would be a proportional response.
However I think they will lay down and take this like they always have and keep playing “Mother May I” with the GOP and continue to bitch about it.

And it shouldn’t be proportional anyway, it should be punitive. Fuck norms... get fucked.

Two can be explained to independents and show Dems have a spine after getting walked all over with Garland and Barrett.

Nope. 65-78% of the public want legal abortion, the ACA, Gun Control, THIS appointment to wait ... you undrrestimate the rage.
And no republic survives an extremist minority court.
Correction. Separation. Or watch the Republic burn.

We will see, if even a whiff of that rage existed in 16 Trump would not be President because a lot more Bernie and Stein supporters would have voted Clinton and gotten her elected. Frankly the left did this to themselves in that election.

in 2016, Trump could legitimately run WITH the rage. and WIN.
this year, he has to run against it.
he probably won't fare so well.

I dunno - I think a lot of them still remember how trying to compromise back when Obama had control of anything bit them in the ass. They were still labeled by the GOP as pushing through radical ideas even though they did a lot less then they could have with the control. Yes, doing that will keep the divide, but I don't think the GOP will be ready to play ball even if they get their asses handed to them. They need that and a healthy dose of their own medicine to then maybe realize that it's best if both sides always work together.
