I'm all for conspiracy theories (there is some truth in some of them), but you guys are ridiculous. Having COVID is not some master class chess move, it could easily work against him. If you're going to lie about something to improve your chances, make up a lie about saving someone's life. I agree with Ryan. getting CV19 undermines a very large share of his message and campaign, including (but not limited to):
1) his aura of invincibility 2) his continual marginalizing/minimizing the disease 3) his ability to move about and have huge rallies
I think he has it, and I think he is at serious risk.

The thing is, the public will never know if Mr. Trump really had/has it. HIPAA, false news, etc. I raise an eyebrow at the timing.
I like this one, where he's called the world's most powerful man:
And save the further lectures. It's amazing how exhausting it must be to carry so much hate of our President and his supporters. Have fun continuing to "like" each other's comments-as always, as always, you're doing a great job at rah-rahing each other!
I suspect he has it I do not wish for anyone to get sick I do not wish him to die from it But, given his downplaying it, refusal to support mask wearing, mocking those that do, and inability to treat it as the crisis it is, it is fitting that he too should suffer for it. Over 200k Americans are dead, and that is on his watch, and as president, his responsibility. Something he refuses to acknowledge. So, if it takes him and his family catching it and being sick for him to finally act presidential and do his job, good. But if he continues to act the same way after he and melania are sick, and he spread it to how many others by being irresponsible, fuck him Yep. Karma.

That's interesting that you latched onto the statement calling him the worlds most powerful man. I find that frightening since he has no regard for the checks and balances set out in the constituition. I don't want a dictator, I want a president who recongizes the legal limitations to his power.

still not getting how he gains anything from this, otherwise I would entertain it more. Yeah, I'm still trying to figure this one out, too. He's/they're up to something. It will likely allow him to weasel out of debates. Maybe garner some sympathy vote. This is like a Hail Mary pass for him.

Trump's directly responsible for tens of thousands of innocents' deaths. F*ck him, I say.
I'm just trying to figure out what would be the best outcome going forward. He's gonna lose the election, but what will happen from Nov 3rd to Jan 20th? Violence is likely, and deaths from it. Once he's out of office, unless he's prosecuted, found guilty and goes to prison, his voice will continue on, fanning the flames of Trumpism for his legion of MAGATs with untold results.
If he succumbs to this, we'll have President Pence for a bit, but at least he will accept a smooth transition. Could Pence beat Biden if he took over as the GOP candidate at this point? I think it's pretty unlikely.
I see one outcome as preferable to the other. Sorry not sorry.

Personally, I hope his Covid experience goes like mine has. 2 weeks of being too sick to move out of bed or know what day it is. Followed by 3-5 weeks of barely being able to function thru the day, needing a nap at least once a day, sometimes twice. Then months and months and months of unexplained health issues. Raging high blood pressure, heart issues, lung/breathing issues, exhaustion, fatigue, shortness of breath, inability to walk 10 feet without feeling like you just ran a marathon, lack of sleep, light headedness, dizziness, muscle cramps, and in general feeling like shit most of the time. He'll be able to claim that he survived it, but his every waking moment will be harder than it was before.
and save the lectures because I'm only wishing on him what I am still currently experiencing. May he find out that he's just like any other average American, he can get sick & get his fat orange ass kicked by the "hoax" that he caught.
I totally missed it steff that you had Covid. So sorry for all you have gone through. Were you at least able to reap the benefits of your summer garden? I finally harassed my doctor enough to get an antibodies test instead of just assuming that I had it. Now we know that I did for sure have it. I was able to struggle thru the garden this summer, but it kicked my ass hard. I got a lot of veggies into the freezer, but didn't do any salsa or tomato sauce like planned. I just couldn't do it all. I also tapped out on certain veggies after I put a bunch in the freezer. I gave up on green beans & cucumbers way early & let hubby give them away instead of using them. I did 1 batch of pickles & then did just ice box pickles that didn't have to be canned. I only did 1 batch of peach preserves & no other jellies/jams. I couldn't keep up like normal.

Yes, one only has to listen to trumps own words. Doesn't need any interpretation or explanation from his staff or the press.

I was just quoting other posters from a different thread. I've got pulmonary issues myself, and wouldn't wish them on anyone.

Very glad you are still here! Thank you! Me too. I did have the "in case I drop dead" talk with hubby & my mom over the last month. The heart issues scared me big time. Family history says I have a good chance of just dropping dead from a heart attack at any time now that I'm over 50. I had a heart 'moment' a couple of weeks ago where I really thought to myself "oh god, this is how it ends". Luckily, it didn't end, but it did scare me good.

I don't see as much correction of left comments as I see of trumps. In fact almost daily I hear trump contradict himself. Which of his statements should I believe?

I think it is a stupid ploy if it is a ploy. those that hate him think he is weaseling out. those that love him were going to vote for him anyway. I can't see it changing many in the middle.
AND AGAIN: there is only about 6% undecided in this race, and Biden is polling at 51%. this is radically different than 2016 where 15% were undecided and neither candidate was polling above 45%

I'm thinking this is a specifically timed "hoax" announcement from trump. He has politicized any and every thing that he could since before he was elected. I can totally see him using having the COVID19 virus to his advantage. It seems awfully convenient for him to have caught it. Wasn't everyone who was having contact with him being tested BEFORE they were in his presence? How is this NOT staged and NOT true? trump and how ever many other WH officials who get and who will recover from it - I doubt any will die (they aren't really sick) make a powerful statement so close to the election. God WANTS trump to live!!! God wants trump to get re-elected. Isn't that what Qanon is all about? How does this NOT fit that narrative? I find it kind of weird that Melania has it too. She doesn't seem like she'd spend alot of time with trump OR be involved with his day to day dealings. I cringe when I think of the two of them kissing goodnight before getting into their beds at night.

steff at my last parish I was able to have a good sized garden (farm boy here) and I miss it so much here as there is no space for a garden. Glad to hear that you were able to get so much out of it even if it wasn't as much as you planned. And for sure happy that you are recovering from Covid!

what does that translate to, for immediate and not-so-immediate days to come? On the news they mentioned it's probably not good if you see marine 1 land at the white house in the next two weeks ish. And it's bad if it then goes to whatever that hospital is - walter reed maybe? ohhh okay, that makes a lot of sense. thanks

This was exactly my thought. What would he gain? His cult followers are going to vote for him dead or alive. The left aren't going to vote for him. And those few that are still undecided why would this make them vote for him? If they are still undecided it is probably because they don't want to vote for him but haven't quite been convinced by Biden yet. If anything I would think this would dissuade them from voting for him.
But then you have to remember in his bigly brain and alternate universe he believes everything that comes out of his own mouth so he has probably convinced himself that a hoax like this would help him.
