A friend posted on FB that Tiger Lilys are deadly to cats. If they brush up against them them lick their fur, it can kill them. Eating a Tiger Lily can be such an allergic reaction the animal has to be euthanized.
My friend's niece had this happen to her fur baby and she doesn't want anyone else to go through that. Edit. It is any lilys.

Never heard that one. I must have some tough ass cats - they use my lillies as cover when hunting or for napping. Previous cat passed at 19 years old, current cat is 3.

I think it's when cats eat the leaves (or just chew on them). And I'm guessing it's the pollen that's toxic when it gets on their fur and they then ingest it when cleaning themselves. I'm not sure how much pollen would be needed to poison a cat. (there is a woman in the office who often gets big bouquets of Lillies for "special occassions". You can smell them across the office. I remember hearing that the drop/have alot of pollen especially when there's like 6 or 12 of them in a bunch. I remember the woman - saying she had to wipe up the pollen off her desk every morning. )
It's good info regardless. Many store bought bouquets of cut flowers include a Lilly or two... I would imagine repeat exposure to low levels of a toxin may have long term effects.
I no longer have many house plants. due to the cats either eating them - or just "flossing" and "chewing" on the leaves and stems.
I've currently got a String Eater and it took quite abit of time to create a "string free" home... I keep an eye on fraying clothes/cat trees/towels. the String Eater will even attempt to eat the plastic strand that comes off a package of resealable anything should it fall to the floor or be left on the counter (name brand cheese packages and sometimes lunch meat packages for example).

Those strings are very dangerous.
My DD's cat is a toilet tissue hater/shredder. They have to put it in the cupboard and cover the trash.
