Well, remember, the prez refuses to wear a mask. Even at places where he's supposed to. Am I the only person who's going to play "Cry Me A River" if he ends up getting the virus? There are plenty of people who have taken proper precautions who've gotten infected anyway...

Reckon he'll self-quarantine? I'm mean, yanno, he was chosen by God so is there even a need?
I can't help but wonder if the valet infected anyone else in the West Wing and whether they'd be required to self-quarantine.
And if trump does get it, will we even be told?

Maybe Trump infected the Valet. Given Trump's already been exposed to the virus he is likely on some preventive drugs and likely so is Pence. It would explain why they act as if they are OK and in no danger.

I don't think there are any tested preventative drugs, but I know at least a few doctors that believe taking certain drugs make it less likely you will get the virus. My hard to find anti-viral for my eye is one of them. Its my belief they are on something. I have no facts to back it up whatsoever, but I do not think they would act this confident in public if they were taking nothing to protect them. Even Jared's federal stockpile for Trump family and friends is not a good enough reason to feel safe. MO.

Is anyone else pissed off that they are getting tested weekly and know the answer in 15 minutes when common people can't get a test unless they are really sick and then have to wait a week for an answer?

I am not pissed they get tested, it makes sense given they have to protect the chain of command. What pisses me off is they have that privilege and then flagrantly disregard the rules. Like not wearing masks or flying to NYC (with all their SS people in tow not by choice) to have a catered Passover celebration.
Meanwhile there is someone who has to go work at a meat packing plant because American's can't be bothered to change their diet who would otherwise be staying at home and following the rules who can't get tested.
THAT is what pisses me off. Not the testing but the sheer amount of rich person privilege they are rubbing in our faces.

Yes and no. I mean it's the President, so he should be getting tested regularly as should the people around him. I may loathe him, but it's important that he is tested regularly. However, with that said, it irritates me because this President doesn't grasp things he doesn't experience first hand. And so because he and the people around him can get a test and the results quickly without any sort of issue, he doesn't grasp that most people in this country don't have nearly the same level of access.

We have to eat. Whether it's meat or vegetables, it still requires people to do the work. Yes, I do understand that the people that do that work often aren't as privileged, financially, as the rest of us. But changing our diet isn't going to change that fact.

There are no preventative drugs. All the current antivirals on the market are not effective for this. To think they haven’t been tested is naive. So, anyone prescribed tamiflu and other antivirals wasted their money and could contribute to shortages and resistance

I'm a tiny bit surprised there haven't been any covid19 cases in our government officials. Maybe I missed the announcements of their illness. It seems that many of the early cases were in people who traveled abroad and then attended gatherings - and I would think that many of our politicians meet and gather with people who fit that criteria.

Yes. Although at this point in my area knowing you are positive OR are living with someone who's positive won't help much. I've got local stores/services closing down almost daily for "deep cleaning". That's our local euphemism for an employee tested positive. I'm not really sure if any cleaning actually happens... since the employee was most likely at work shedding germs for days before they became sick enough to warrant a test. With that in mind - I wouldn't doubt that more affluent areas (or areas with "important people" living there) probably do have access to quicker testing - as it will help limit the spread. In my working class and a bit above that in income live - it doesn't really matter who gets sick or how long it takes to get the results - knowing if you are positive or not is meaningless. (of course it's not meaningless to those of us who ARE trying to avoid getting sick OR if we do get it - we'd rather limit who we spread it to.). There are alot of everyday people in my area who just don't care.

I don't think he grasps things even when he does "experience it first hand".... Has he exhibited any sort of change in behaviour since he took office? I'm guessing he's had an astonishing amount of new "first hand experiences" - and yet we still have the Trump show...

I don't find anything to suggest that there are "preventative drugs". Thank you. I mentioned that in another thread. To suggest that there are any preventative meds would definitely not be inline with the PB site wide rule of "do not disseminate covid misinformation". However, tRump seems to think that hydroxychloroquinone is preventative, so could he be taking it? He’s pushed it enough as a preventative.

I think it's best I don't answer that, as to do so might be taken as some sort of presidential death wish.

The President doesn't grasp things he doesn't experience first hand and that doesn't have a long-term impact on his life personally.
