People may have to make use of the lifetime supply of canned beans they bought at the beginning of the pandemic.

Keep in mind too there are animals not ready for slaughter that have been born.
That is why in part they are culling adult animals they need somewhere for the new ones to go.
Once those animals are market age these companies will likely have rearranged shipping.
In the meantime meatless monday becomes meatless monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Since it's just me, a pound of ground beef goes a long way. I've got a couple of chicken packages in the freezer, lots of soup. I'm just not going to worry about it.

PEANUT BUTTER, that's all I need along with jelly. Well, and coffee. OTOH I can stop on the way home from the Dr. office tomorrow and raid Walmart......

The run on "meat" has started in my neck of the woods. My facebook feed exploded this afternoon with people saying costco and the other big box store had none (and if they did you could only buy 1 (not sure what that means)). I was just at Aldi - and bought some chicken thighs for the freezer (I cook it for my cats) - a little goes a long way and now they are good for more than month. There was plenty of chicken, and lunch meat and sausages. But, all the "fresh" beef and pork were gone from Aldi. They did have ground lamb (I was tempted..), sausages, and fish. All the varieties of frozen meat were there... Stopped in Jewel because soda was on sale-ish. The only "meat" left was the organic stuff priced at like $8 and up for a pound or less. Didn't bother checking the frozen food. I pretty much bought what I needed "meat" wise a week ago. The extra chix thighs for the cats was my response to the pressure of the "omg! there will never be "meat" again!!!" vibe that's going on right now Still little to no paper products (TP, paper towels, napkins, paper plates) in any of the stores (don't care - haven't really needed to buy any of it - I'm good til July or so...) I'm guessing if you didn't stock up on "meat" earlier in the week (or before) you may be out of luck

We got all of the meat that we put in the cart so it must not be here yet? We also have a lot of local options so maybe that helps.
I'm actually starting to run out of TP now... I ordered some off bamboo brand on Amazon. Guess we'll see.

I went to Costco, Walmart & Sam's today....There was meat, EXPENSIVE CUTS were plentiful. There was some of everything except what I wanted. I wanted Kirkland brand (Costco) bacon cause it's the best...got Smithfield instead & some other brand that looked good too. I wanted center ham slices at Sam's...gone. There were plenty of ground beef, roasts & steaks of all sorts....but the cheap stuff was mostly gone...same with pork & chicken...cheaper items gone. There was plenty of seafood items at all the stores...but I don't like seafoods.
This was in Tallahassee, Fl. And traffic was unreal & all the stores were crowded. I couldn't get through the folks in line for self checkout at Sam's to get to the bathroom...they weren't keeping their 6' apart either!

I've been slowly building up food supplies for a couple of months now, but this meat thing did kick it into overdrive. Today I hit the Hispanic market to load up on whole chickens & bone in breasts (they have the best prices around here), stew meat, fajita meat & shrimp ($4.99 a lb head on!) Then I hit the regular grocery store in the next town for chicken wings, tenders, bacon, pork ribs, pork chops, beef roasts (bought 3) & pork roasts (2), round steaks, cube steaks & filets. We did buy a whole rib eye & cut it down to 6 steaks ourselves. I don't like the hamburger meat at that store, so I hit the grocery store in my town for 2 large packs of hamburger & some breakfast sausage. I already have catfish filets, cod filets, & multiple packages of salmon frozen. Spent a couple of hours vacuum sealing everything & then cleaning out/rearranging my deep freezer & the laundry room fridge freezer. It's now bursting at the seams. But we're good on meat for a couple of months.
Food is the one place where my hubby is a spoiled rotten pain in the ass. He eats better than anyone he knows. When the shit hits the fan, no way in hell am I going to have to listen to him bitch about food. And annoyingly, no he's not a fat ass. He can eat like a horse & not gain a ton of weight. Drives me crazy.
I have stuffed the basement fridge freezer with bread products & frozen desserts. Hey when your hubby works for a bread company that also owns a frozen pie company, you load up on the shit when possible & it didn't cost anything. I said "grab a couple of pies from the big work freezer, he's the one who brought home a case every time I said that. Also got a bunch of frozen pizzas down there for kiddo, another bread company owned product. lol He & his hunting buddy have planted the garden from hell. I'm going to be buried in veggies around mid June. Already gathering up mason jars & containers for frozen veggies & tomato sauce. It's also why I got the vacuum sealer. I have already "dry canned" black beans, pinto beans & red beans along with 10 lbs of rice. So when the shit REALLY hits the fan, I got doomsday beans & rice. I HATE THAT I'VE BECOME A DAMN PREPPER! But I am not going to go into the apocalypse with my hubby bitching about food. It's also why I refuse to survive a nuclear apocalypse. I'm walking into the nuke area, not running away. No way in hell am I having to cook radiation food over a campfire while he hovers. Not happening.
