Coronavirus: Disabled boy dies in China after father quarantined Two officials in China have been removed from their posts after a teenager with cerebral palsy died when his father - and sole carer - was quarantined for suspected coronavirus. Yan Cheng, 16, was found dead on Wednesday, a week after his father and brother were placed in quarantine. The boy was fed only twice during this time, according to reports. www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-51362772

Not only that, but they're refusing to allow Canadian planes to land to get our Canadian citizens out. They're still FURIOUS about our arrest of Meng Wanzhou, which we did at the request of the USA. Our Ambassador to China spoke to the Chinese, and said he's never seen such red-faced and spittle-flecked rage. They're absolutely livid! They're not going to allow us to get our people out anytime soon.

That poor, dear little boy. What a horrible way to pass ... alone and uncared for. Just makes me sick and so very sad. I hope something can be done for all foreign people stuck in that mess in China. Really sorry about the Canadians stuck there. Hope some agreement can be reached so they can come home.

This entire situation breaks my heart. That poor child! A situation like this is a parent's worst nightmare. I can't even imagine what his father is going through. And, there are many who are "trapped" in China right now. DD actually knows a student who is there right now. Hoping that all who wish to leave, get the opportunity to do so.

Thousands of pets are also starving to death in empty apartments while their owners are quarantined. I hope this thing is resolved soon, but cases of the corona virus on one of the ship have tripled OVERNIGHT.

Was looking at WHO's site this morning. Looks like there have only been 2 Coronavirus-related deaths outside China - one in Hong Kong and one in the Philippines. Sure hope that continues to be the case. A 60-year-old US woman did die in Wuhan, where she had chosen to stay.

So sad about the boy ......... and the pets that are left in empty homes. I have a co-worker that returned from China a few days ago and is in a self imposed quarantine in her home. So far, so good.

I believe that puts it higher than the total SARS outbreak. Mortality rate is still a little above 2%, a far cry from the 9.6% of SARS Yep. I'd read that, as well. Hopefully, it'll stay below that mortality rate.

I can't imagine being stuck on that ship. If this is the one I heard them talking about last week, the guests can't leave their cabins. Talk about stir crazy. But they can't let them off until they've gone 14 days without anyone else getting sick, though.

There isn't enough quarantine facilities for everyone .... Many people have been told to self quarantine and notify the authorities if they get sick. Not sure how effective that is.......... but the people of Wuhan have been holed up for weeks. As for the ship..........would you want 60 odd infected people coming on shore to potentially cause harm to citizens Its not nice but they'll get through it.

In case anyone is concerned about contracting the coronavirus, fear not. Jim Bakker says he probably has the cure for it and once his Silver Solution. Televangelist Jim Bakker Claims His Magic ‘Silver Solution’ Cures CoronavirusFraud For Jesus: Televangelist Jim Bakker claims his magic “Silver Solution” will kill the coronavirus within 12 hours. Bakker, the disgraced and infamous Trump-loving televangelist who spent time in prison after bilking his followers out of $158 million, made the claim that his magic “Silver Solution” would cure the coronavirus within 12 hours while discussing the product with Dr. Sherrill Sellman, a supposed naturopath, on his television program earlier this week: BAKKER: This influenza, that is now circling the globe, you’re saying that Silver Solution would be effective? SELLMAN: Well, let’s say it hasn’t been testing on this strain of the coronavirus, but it’s been testing on other strains of the coronavirus and has been able to eliminate it within 12 hours. Totally eliminates it. Kills it. Deactivates it. And then it boosts your immune system, so then you can support the recovery, ’cause when you kill the virus then your immune system comes into action to clear it out. So you want a vibrant immune system as well as an ability to deactivate these viruses. In addition to curing the coronavirus, Bakker also claims that his magic “Silver Solution” will cure sexually transmitted diseases. Reporting on the story, Hemant Mehta at Friendly Atheist notes: Complete article here: Televangelist Jim Bakker Claims His Magic ‘Silver Solution’ Cures Coronavirus

So many memories of SARS in 03. This really couldn’t have come at a worse time with Chinese New Year celebrations, everyone traveling and inventory positions being at their most vulnerable. Supply Chains have grinded to an absolute halt and companies are in a “War Room” status because stockouts are coming hard and fast on so many different things. China 2020 is way more intertwined with the global supply chain than they were in 2003. All of your retailers are in freak out mode right now.

And Japan is having Kittens because they have spent all this money in wanting to host the Olympics in the Summer. They really don't want the virus there.

Evidently, Trump knows far more about disease than than the scientists and doctors at the CDC. CDC Contradicts Trump’s Prediction That Coronavirus Will ‘Miraculously’ Go Away by April The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention appeared to contradict a prediction made by President Donald Trump this week that the deadly coronavirus would “miraculously” disappear by April. Instead, CDC Director Robert Redfield told CNN that it will probably be around “beyond this season, beyond this year.” Redfield conceded that the larger medical community doesn’t really have a clue about what is going to happen. “Right now we’re in an aggressive containment mode,” he said. “We don't know a lot about this virus.” he said, adding that he felt it would eventually become a “community virus” that would be hard to eradicate. www.thedailybeast.com/cdc-contradicts-trump-on-duration-of-coronavirus-saying-it-will-not-miraculously-disappear-by-aprilAren't you glad you have such a stable genius at the helm? There is NOTHING that this man doesn't know!

Man runs marathon in apartment as China fights virus with exerciseA fanatical runner jogged the equivalent of an ultra-marathon inside his small apartment as people in virus-hit China desperately try to keep fit while cooped up indoors. The country is at the centre of an outbreak of a new coronavirus, leaving more than 1,500 dead and sparking global alarm, but it is also in the grip of a health drive because the government is aggressively encouraging people to exercise to fight the disease. With much of the 1.4 billion population ordered indoors and gyms closed, people are competing to outdo each other in how many bottles of water they can lift, how many push-ups they can do with their children on their backs or how many flights of stairs they can scale in their tower blocks. Pan Shancu has easily won the unofficial gold medal, saying he jogged 66 kilometres (41 miles) in a loop at home in six hours, 41 minutes. He has the data tracker that he says proves it, and the 44-year-old's feat and a video of him repeatedly circling furniture in his apartment went viral in China.
