Considering they are now both probably out of a job, I don’t think I could do it. Why take a chance to loose a sweet gig where you get to drive a free corvette?

I would not be surprised to learn that had they simply gone through appropriate channels at GM, they would have been granted access to the GM test track to experience the capabilities of the new Corvette in a safe and legal manner. They would have had the fun they were seeking and still be employed (assuming they have actually experienced the natural consequences of their "hold my beer" moment).
People are stupid.
Now I want a Corvette. I always want a Corvette, but I am not constructed to get out of one, which poses a problem.

True. On the other hand, it's not a good deal if I can't get out of it once I get into it. They are very low to the ground. |
