Have seen the video of this on the morning news.
They also showed large demonstrations in regards to displeasure of the plane being shot down.
In Iran.

Most countries and cultures have majority populations that have a conscience. Just as the average American does not want the rest of the world to think that all Americans are just like the leadership figures the world is exposed to, other countries have many citizens that do not want the world to believe they are just like the leadership in their country.

There is a certain segment of Iranian citizens rioting in the streets right now to protest their air services not shutting off commercial air flights in and out of the country while Iran was on high alert, leading to the destruction of nearly 200 civilians by Iranian missiles.
I figure the students are probably doing exactly the opposite of what they think their leadership wants them to do, in order to make good media shots - which is pretty much what our own discontented college students would do if they were protesting something our government did.
