Trump Organization fires more undocumented workers — a year after its use of illegal labor was revealedCHARLOTTESVILLE — Nearly a year after the Trump Organization pledged to root out undocumented workers at its properties, supervisors at the Trump Winery on Monday summoned at least seven employees and fired them because of their lack of legal immigration status, according to two of the dismissed workers. The timing of the firings at the rural Virginia winery, 11 months after the company began purging the ranks of undocumented greenskeepers and cooks at Trump golf courses, came during the vineyard’s winter downtime. Workers had finished the arduous annual grape harvest, which involved working 60-hour weeks and overnight shifts under floodlights. Two of the fired workers — Omar Miranda, a 42-year-old tractor driver from Honduras, and a second employee who spoke on the condition of anonymity to protect family members seeking to stay in the United States — said they thought the company had held off on firing them until after the year’s work was complete, taking advantage of their labor for as long as possible. Both had worked at the winery for more than a decade. “They didn’t make this decision in the summer because they needed us a lot then,” Miranda said. The second employee said, “I think they wanted to get their product out well, the grapes, to make sure that was taken care of, and once things were slow, they could fire us all.” In response to questions from The Washington Post, the Trump Organization emailed only a statement that said, “Consistent with our efforts, we will immediately terminate any individual who has provided fake identification in order to unlawfully gain employment.” Trump Organization fires more undocumented workers — a year after its use of illegal labor was revealedMy employer used to fire managers who didn't immediately terminate employee(s) when they became aware an employee committed an action worthy of termination because the loss of the employee would impact the manager's operations. The manager would keep working the employee(s) until the critical crunch time was over and then terminate them.

Not surprising. Fits in with their family philosophy: use 'em and lose 'em. Oh, and "I really didn't know them very well..."

I assume the illegals were all shocked they were let go. Must not have known any law about being illegal and not allowed to work. They learned a valuable law about American civics, and should drop the "poor me" bit. Did Trump properties turn them over to ICE or Homeland security? If not, that should be the headline.

This is why employers should be fined and even sent to prison for knowingly keeping illegal immigrants on their payroll. No jobs for illegal immigrants = no illegal immigrants.

If his response is good enough to give to me it is good enough for eveyone else.

And they are still working for him?

Tennesseer, Happy New Year! I thought you were leaving here the first of the year. If you read my posts, and look at the very bottom, I tell everyone when I am gone. You know I originally told everyone it would be January 10th, but when I found out positively of my opportunity, I updated it at that time. And do not worry, it is not forever, as I have posted over in the Investings Basics board to members there. kadee should know if you want to pm her, as she responded to my explanation to the members there. It is not a secret I will be gone. Just basically depends if I do not get kicked out early and will be back here!

Trump's the one that needs to learn a valuable law about American civics and drop the 'poor me' crap. 1) Presidents are not the king of everything, and 2) one of the duties of Congress is to maintain checks on the Executive office -therefore, they not only have a right but an obligation to impeach a president they believe has violated his oath of office.

You’re absolutely correct that we need to implement E-Verify, along with severe penalties to businesses that hire illegals. That would be way more effective than a wall. But it’s also pretty much business as usual for US companies to wait until the end of busy season to fire a bunch of people. Getting your panties in a bunch because Trump did something but 90% of other businesses in this country do seems a little over dramatic.

It was also a 2016 campaign promise by trump. The illegal immigrant workers were terminated by the trump winery in 2019.

For example, there are thousands of politicians on your side who oppose any form of school choice, yet send their kids to private schools. Plenty of family values guys have affairs. And feminist have a history of backing sexual predators, as long as they are pro abortion. There’s plenty of hypocrisy to go around.

But yes. They just break it with impunity. What troubles me more is that 60 million slavishly support their criminal enterprise.

They oppose publicly funding private school. Which means they are against a subsidy for themselves. That would be the opposite of hypocritical. Hypocritical is attacking others for "sucking at the public teat" as you fight for subsidies for yourself and your friends.

Go ahead and prove that “thousands of politicians on our side send their children to private schools”.
My parents, neither of whom were politicians, chose to send my sister and I through 12 years of private school while also paying property taxes that supported public schools.

90% probably don't.
oh, and if Trump and others are into E-Verify, give it teeth.
otherwise, you are just huffing.

So, is Melania Trump going to be deported? apnews.com/37dc7aef0ce44077930b7436be7bfd0d/Melania-Trump-modeled-in-US-prior-to-getting-work-visaThe wife of the GOP presidential nominee, who sometimes worked as a model under just her first name, has said through an attorney that she first came to the U.S. from Slovenia on Aug. 27, 1996, on a B1/B2 visitor visa and then obtained an H-1B work visa on Oct. 18, 1996. The documents obtained by the AP show she was paid for 10 modeling assignments between Sept. 10 and Oct. 15, during a time when her visa allowed her generally to be in the U.S. and look for work but not perform paid work in the country. The documents examined by the AP indicate that the modeling assignments would have been outside the bounds of her visa.
