I brought that possibility up a while back as just a thought of mine..just one of those things we posters do from time to time on these social media places...Can't remember, but don't believe there was much interest or discussion on the post and it went where ever non interesting posts go... Now there is a actual article by a recognized writer on a real web site so I thought I would post for any possible discussion..Author doesn't get into removing by force thus real possible civil war between parties. He does bring up the possibility happening if the election and electorial vote is close..then the Donald deciding to stay. The problem is, most of our elections are close, not with standing Nixons second term, McGovern being totally destroyed...but we know how that worked out... So the conditions , a very close result, close electorial, are quite plausible...thus the possibility of the title of this thread quite real.. {The tapes did him in , otherwise he would have weathered the storm, IMHO} ==================================== www.yahoo.com/news/what-happens-if-trump-loses-in-2020-and-refuses-to-leave-140639064.html

The President is only the President because individuals accept that he is the President and act accordingly. Unless Donald Trump is voted in for a second term, the job of the President will pass to a different person on January 20th, 2021. The office will leave him, even if he doesn't leave The White House. I would prefer we don't give him a big show if he made that choice. Isolate him and wait him out.

Just off the top of my head, I'd guess that as soon as he loses the election he'll get his tighty whities all in a twist and decamp to Mar-a-Lago to pout a la the way he does whenever he's ticked about his "unfair" treatment wherever he goes. Like he did at NATO, as a matter of fact. He cancelled a news conference and left in an Air Force One huff.
That's off the top of my head. Usually I have to think things through, consider every scenario, and parse every syllable to come up with a reasonable answer.

he'll scream and yell and wail about how he was the bestest greatest president ever, and that illegals elected candidate X, and that it is all a fraud and a sham.
the 40% that vote for him (let's not kid ourselves, he owns them) will pick up the cue. but given the fact that most of them are pushing around walkers, I don't think we have much to worry about.
so, let them fucking scream. let them bawl, like they did when Pinochet was ousted. they'll get hoarse over it, quieting them to a throaty whisper, and history will laugh at them far louder than anyone else will.

djAdvocate, I'll bet there are far more of his fans with assault rifles slung over their shoulders than there are fans with walkers. In my mind's eye, I see him on the news whining "How could you do this to me after all I've done for you?"

there are 5-10M assault weapons in the US. let's be extremely generous and say that there is only one owner for the max amount. that would be 10M Americans that own them.
there are 25.5M Americans with disabilities, and 58% of them use some sort of walking aid. and yes, I threw in canes there, so forgive me, but I think we are talking about the same group, here. that is roughly 15M.
of the gun owners, you are probably correct in thinking that close to 100% of them are Trump voters. of those that need walking assistance, are over 2/3 Trump supporters?
I would concede that this one is too close to call.

a) One problem at a time. Let's get him boted out, and THEN worry about getting him to leave the WH.
2) He is never in the WH anyway, so of course he will leave. He can't go 5 minutes without golfing. Once he can't jump on air force 1 and get to Florida, he will figure out that he will get paid a million bucks for a speech, and he will be fine.
c) Bills is correct. Once he no longer can sign executive orders and fire competent people and replace them with idiots, it won't be fun for him anymore.

No matter when he ends his time as president (either by loss of election or and end of 2nd term) I'm sure there will be a record number of pardons granted in his final two months.
ETA: on second thought, if he gets re-elected the pardons will flow non stop for 4 years.

I'll list three categories of people: 1. Those who have worked for him or his campaign that have been convicted and sentenced. 2. Those who have been contributors to his campaign and want relief from convictions 3. Republican elected officials who have been convicted. Those who will not receive pardons: People with brown skin.

Sort of a "this for that" situation. I hear there's a Latin term for it but I forget what it is.

If he does leave as he should and as other formers have, I predict his post term will be different then other ex's... All seem to stay out of commentating on the current POTUS doings...realizing how hard a job it is...See Obama...even with , from day one it seemed , the negative sniping of him from the Donald...except for a few speeches, and even then no mention of or personals...Bush did the same, in fact Clinton and the older ?ush became close friends it seems.. However, I expect from the day he is no longer in office, the Donald will be tweeting and speaking against the new President, his/her policies and doings.....

My $ are on the US Marshalls, local cops...possible National Guard....US troops are forbidden to get involved in action in the States..by law...However, if in a emergency...and I don't believe will be needed..President does have great powers and Congress can always pass new laws.. Those guys with long weapons over their shoulder...they would be wiped if they tried to cause problems..especially after the first few are put down..their families also involved as collateral damage.. Granted some might have had military training , but were trained as a team with supports, medical, logistics and for most, no longer 18/19/20 year olds..and hiking and playing in the woods on occasional weekends with like minded types just aint going to cut it...not even close.
