Yes. I was using hyperbole. Lets focus on that.
Seriously Billis I'm not mad at your or anything. Sad mostly. Like after the election. And yes generally mad. That this is was all so avoidable. All so pointless. And my parents and people I thought of as friends so complicit in their ignorance.

The issue is, realistically, the least likely to have everything change when the republic falls is white males. Its just reality. I was responding most to this sentiment, "I am burned out at this point. I am not "taking as seriously as necessary" much these days. I don't see "serious" as being of much value in the face of what we are experiencing these days. So I will just be playing around until my fellow citizens tell me what "our way of life" will be in my final days. At that point I will reassess" I was put off by the popcorn in the face of Kurds about to be slaughtered the other day to, I have to confess. This week has been as hard for me at the first month after the election I think. Crying uncontrollable at times. Blind white rage at others. I wish I had the luxury of not seeing the value in treating things seriously. You do have the luxury of seeing things as you wish to see them.

I think I have a realistic acceptance of what is possible for me to influence at this point in time. I spent my time being angry at the state of affairs in this country. I simply can not maintain it at this point in time.

What do you see as "our way of life"? I have heard a lot over the years about "our ideals" and have experienced a lot of life falling way short of those ideals. I will admit that there are examples of growth (e.g. marriage equality) but there is still a lot of distance between our ideals and our way of life. In a little over a year, the American citizenry will have the final opportunity to address the "threats to the republic". It is already very clear what one of the options will be and where that is leading. There is work still to be done to determine the other major option. There will be other options available as well. I am on the downhill side of life. It is not truly my future which will be decided. I see it as the responsibility of younger generations to determine the country they will live, and potentially die, in. I understand that there are barriers erected to make it harder for many to have an impact but not overcoming them is a choice. Get the ID you need, ensure you haven't been purged from the voting registry, don't succumb to propaganda, etc. I think those who identify as Republican should nominate someone other than Donald Trump but they won't. Time will tell if Democratic primary voters will make an intelligent choice. And if not, will the American people demand and find a good third option? I am burned out at this point. I am not "taking as seriously as necessary" much these days. I don't see "serious" as being of much value in the face of what we are experiencing these days. So I will just be playing around until my fellow citizens tell me what "our way of life" will be in my final days. At that point I will reassess Going to make some assumptions here, disabuse me if I'm wrong.... but poster and those who liked it.... all white males? I am a white male. I liked Billisonboard's post, especially paragraph three. I too am even further on the downhill side than Bill. There is little to nothing of trump's and the Republicans' current policies which can directle harm me. But that does not mean I don't care for any of the people currently following me in life or those yet to be born. This applies to all men, women, boy and girl, black, white, black and brown people, LGBTQ and straight people. Each member of any of these groups and issues directly affecting them are just as important as to the others. The only thing trump could do to me is mess with Medicare ans Social Security. As Medicare is currently available to all races, genders, colors, national origins, and sexual orientation and identity once they reach eligibility age, I don't think trump, Republicans, or Democrats for that matter will mess with it. But one never knows. Same holds true for Social Security. So I worry for those who will come after me. What will their world be like. I would like to leave this world in better shape than it is heading right now. I hope we can turn it around before it is too late for future generations.
