"Secondly- was your wife right? Were the other parents more dressed up then you were? " It was about 50-50 some were better dressed (I suspect they just got out of work) and some were worse (concert T-shirts etc) I certainly didn't feel out of place. Me too TD but most said they didn't like it. And I'm a weak follower and cave to public opinion.

Blue- I am sorry to disagree with you (not really "sorry" but trying to be polite). DH came in to our relationship with horrible taste in clothes. No 23 year old needed to be dressing like Dr. Huxtable. Plus once you graduate college it's time to put away the collection of ratty looking Frat T-shirts. I didn't throw those out, they are in a storage box.
FWIW- the man has probably twice as many clothes and shoes as I do.

You're a good woman Sheila. My wife just throws my shit out without telling me or asking. She denies it......even when I've picked it out of the trash!

Thanks Doc. Of course ever since I passed/failed (depending on your point of view) the "psychopath" test the other day DH has been extra nice to me Going to take advantage of that!

Of course. I'm just saying that they no longer get to complain it's creepy if there are words to be read.

FWIW- the man has probably twice as many clothes and shoes as I do. Same here. I do let him know before I donate or throw out any of his old things, but he can rarely justify keeping them.

Crabby threw clothes out on me once. Funny, after her ceramic bird collection disappeared, my clothes were left alone.

Ahhh, see I have zero strange collections like that. Worst thing he could do in retaliation is to erase my shows off tivo.
Apparently those goofy zumba pants are trying to make a comeback. Already told him that a pair of those would NOT be crossing the threshold into our house.

Maybe your wife wanted you to look nice because you're the parent of a participant. It's pretty disheartening to me when I go to my daughter's concerts and half the adults look like they've just rolled out of bed/from under the truck/been slopping hogs. And the answer to the question is yes, there are times I tell my SO he needs to do a little work on his attire. My peeve right now is that he's gained weighted around the middle and his dress pants are barely covering his ankles. And since he doesn't have a full-length mirror, he can't see how absurd it looks.

No. We both ask for each other's opinions if we have doubts. We only point and laugh if it's really bad.

I've been lucky because DF has moved twice in the last year so I get to "help" before we pack up clothes. We've disposed of at least a hundred articles of clothing that he was hanging onto just in case stores stopped carrying clothing? His EX had no taste either, worse than his, so she was no help. If I could just get him to get rid of the plaid farmer shirts I'd be happy. They aren't flattering to anyone but a farmer and he's a skinny, tall dude with no butt!!!!
