“I could win that war in a week. I just don’t want to kill 10 million people,” Trump said during a White House meeting with Pakistan’s prime minister, Imran Khan.
The president added that Afghanistan would be “wiped off the face of the earth” in 10 days if he chose to bring a quick end to the nation’s longest war, ... link First off: Glad you see a massive assault as not a good idea. I do question the idea that a war strategy that kills 20 to 25% of the country's population as one that would end the war with a US "win". You can't really wipe a country "off the face of the earth". You can destroy most elements of the existing social order within the boundaries of a country, but something would have to replace them. I wonder if President Trump is just shooting his mouth off with this idea or does he really believe it is an option that he happens to not be taking at this time?

Amazing what someone can come up with when they don't have any shred of human decency to start with. That is what worries me about this administration.

Saw him this AM talking about the British tanker Iran hijacked.
Stated repeatedly that we don't have any 'signed' agreements with Britain. Then said there are hardly any US tankers there because we are 'energy independent' now. So I guess he doesn't give a shit that Iran is capturing tankers now.
Just the usual BS, plus throwing an ally under the bus.

Has he cleaned up Bush's "Mission Accomplished" banner, to hang up after the first week? Inquiring minds want to know.

A Presidential statement: “Given the multifaced relationship between Afghanistan and the United States, the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan calls for clarification on the U.S. president’s statements,” President Ashraf Ghani’s office said in a statement Tuesday.
“While the Afghan government supports the U.S. efforts for ensuring peace in Afghanistan, the government underscores that foreign heads of state cannot determine Afghanistan’s fate in the absence of Afghan leadership,” the statement added.

I know a poster or two called for the nuking of the Middle East and turning it into a sheet of glass. The fact there were other posters here who claimed Trump would do this, and has not should make you happy. Like that will ever happen.

Next week would be great. Looks like one more week out of 52 weeks of vast disappointment for you this year. Leaves you with five more years of disappointment after that. That is 281 more weeks of suffering for you plus three weeks in the new year after the election in 2024. How about we make it the total number of days?

... the art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing, ... Got it. So if it was supposed to be rhetoric and there needs to be clarification, does that mean that it is suck ass rhetoric?

My opinion on the question you posed, that I bolded in your post. (I wonder etc...) You would have to get clarification from him. I don't know.

Honestly, destroying a region will only leave a hole, that will be filled by the next undesirable leader. We can't seem to get along with anyone that has run that country, how would destroying them and them rebuilding, now even more angry and bitter, and with even less to lose than they did before, going to end up better?
Short term solution to a long complicated problem.
