Haddock definitely needs help. My fav is blue fish. Kinda gamey, but good!

I only want fish from the cold cold cold deep deep deep north Atlantic. Tilapia? gross! Here's a good picture explaining why. It is a tilapia farm. They are using Pig's former home for tanks. Yum! aquanic.org/images/photos/sing/sfrytank.jpg

I know, the website says they are using former pig sty's for the tanks. I hear in Arizona they flood drainage ditches around the commercial fields (?spinach fields strawberry fields?) and raise tilapia in them.

Well in tilapia defense SbS admitted here that she ate poop and she's not half bad. So I will not judge Tilapia!

that's why you should eat fish with scales and fins...it filters what they eat...shell fish on the other hand are the oceans natural way to clean fish shit but it stays in the food...

Really Doc - be brave - there's nothing to fear about fish from Japan. More bang for your buck: [/img]

pretty much like i said...ocean shit...point is their bodies don't filter out what they consume the same way fish with scales and fins do...which was my point

I don't have a thyroid any more so I'm good! I love rainbow trout and haddock and Mai Mai... Yum!! I also love Chilean Sea Bass but it's being over fished so that makes me feel guilty if I order it.

Crappie from a Minnesota lake that hasn't been polluted yet. Crappie fish fry is great as long as someone else does the filleting breading frying and cleanup :-)

I love Crappie!! I have a whole mess of it in my freezer right now that DH and I caught about a month back. We caught our limit (50 fish) in about 2 hours.
These weren't small ones either - we threw back the ones that were just barely legal and kept the ones that were at least 12-13 inches (10 inches is the minimum length here).
Cleaning them is DH's job - my job is cooking them. YUM!!

They practically fly into the boat when you happen to be in the right spot. I was fishing with Dad in a lily pad lagoon area off the Mississippi-right about when Dad told me I was fishing all wrong I started flipping them left and right into the boat

Do you trust fish or other food from Japan in view of the nuclear crisis? The FDA says it is safe - this alone gives me pause. What about you? No, but I'll eat Japanese fish.

I had sushi for dinner. I have no idea where the fish came from, but it sure was tasty.
