I don't mind the Fox News part, but I do avoid the talking heads - they are Murdoch robots. I go hang out at the Fox news website sometimes, both to see that they consider worth reporting on, but also to read the comments, which can be entertaining. Interestingly, I think since Murdoch's son took over the business, it's been moving more to the center. Bernie Sanders had a town hall on Fox, and Fox hired Donna Brazile as a contributor, two things that enraged Trump. www.vox.com/2019/4/16/18410572/trump-fox-news-bernie-sanders-town-hall
How dare Fox deviate from being his propaganda mouthpiece?

Pretty much every Democrat that appears on Real Time gets asked by Bill Maher now if they will "get in the bubble" and start appearing on Fox News.
Fox News has a giant audience that mostly hears one message, never understood why the other side wouldn't appear every chance they could.

Grossly hypocritical but then we know that about Fox News' talking heads and their trump bobbing heads.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Fox News in the future. I believe the average age of viewers is around 60+. What will they do once all the old white dudes start dying off...

Hey, some of us old white dudes/dudettes never turn on Fox. I did see the article in the OP the other day and laughed for about 20 min. about it.

Fox ran an ad boasting about the large turn out for the Sanders town hall on Monday.

I think it's another sign the Murdoch son is running things now - he's more business and less political agenda, the opposite of his dad. Smart for the business, but certain to piss off Trump.

I'm confused by that, because from where I sit, their business IS their political agenda.

I think it was the New Yorker that did an article on the Murdochs, a while back. The son that's currently running Fox has had a tempestuous relationship with his dad, and has previously quit his dad's business when his dad micromanaged him. He came back to run Fox news only if he would be allowed to run it himself, and he seems to be pushing it away from being Trump TV, trying to move it back more towards 'journalism.'
I don't know if it will work for them, they have their own far right niche, but movingforward was right about the demographics being against them. At some point, Trump will be gone, their usual viewers will be dying off, and they'll need to shift their market focus, or shrink. I think Jr.' trying to figure out how to avoid shrinking, long term.

well, they have captured nearly 100% of a declining demographic. in order to grow, they are going to need to attract people that are actually interested in news- not opinion.
I personally have doubts. their brand is so sullied at this point that I think they are going to have a lot of trouble.
but if they could get someone over there that actually attracted liberals, that might change the game for them.

I think so too, because if they want to compete strictly as a 'news' channel, there are already three major and lots of minor tv news sources and about a billion on line news sources to compete against. Right now they stand out as the 'rush limbaugh' of news channels, with their own demographic, although it's a shrinking one.
Of course, some channels, like A and E and MTV, started one as one niche type channel and successfully changed significantly over time, so it can be done.

Sometimes, I watch the Vulpine News, for the comedy. People like J.Pirro and G.Gutfield make me laugh and laugh. We should book them for next year's Just For Laughs Comedy Festival.
