I'm going with yesterday's announcement not getting any/enough attention about 45. This guarantees some attention.

Becuse he looked into Kim's eyes and fell in love, per Trump Great, that's an image that is now permenately embedded in my brain. My guess would be somebody in the treasury department was a meanie or a former Obama appointment or a democrat or laughed at SNL and this is a retaliation. Or a business partner needed a favor. Or NK is dangling the possibility of Trump being the first westerner to open a golf course in their nation.
On a conspiracy level I sometimes think there really is an Illuminati pulling on his strings.

The rest of this is behind the Washington Post's paywall for me.
When asked to explain President Trump’s tweet, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders simply noted that “President Trump likes Chairman Kim and he doesn’t think these sanctions will be necessary.”

I wonder if Sanders throws up every morning before she goes to work. That much toxicity cannot be good for a person.

Another @#$%^&*()*&^%$%^&* tweet announcement that I think shoulda/coulda been a fully explained decision.
Can you rationalize this one away like you did the one on Syria?

We'll go down a bottomless rabbit hole if we attempt to start figuring out Trump's motives to do anything are.
Don't think too hard about it. Next week, he'll reverse it.

President Donald Trump triggered rampant confusion among his own aides and administration officials when he said Friday he is withdrawing new sanctions aimed at North Korea that were just issued by his own administration. "It was announced today by the U.S. Treasury that additional large scale Sanctions would be added to those already existing Sanctions on North Korea. I have today ordered the withdrawal of those additional Sanctions!" Trump tweeted on Friday. www.cnn.com/2019/03/22/politics/donald-trump-north-korea-sanctions-china/index.htmlThe man is senile and doesn't know what's happening from one minute to the next. Good luck with that.

I don't think it's a golf course... more like a hotel on a beach.... and it is probably a business partner (maybe Putin?) who needed the favor. I seriously think Trump's end game is having a comfortable business relationship with NK for all of Trump's friends' businesses and his own. For example, maybe NK would be interested in Erik Prince's business.

But in the world we've got: either a savvy man knowing full well the stakes, or a reckless man doing (what is undeniably) the right thing in his ignorance, I'll take the latter. Especially when tens of millions of lives (both ended and permanently "displaced"), trillions of dollars, and possibly WWIII hang in the balance." Lifting sanctions on North Korea: I have no idea if it's a good idea or if it even matters. Since it doesn't qualify as "a reckless man doing (what is undeniably) the right thing in his ignorance," therefore, there's nothing really to redeem it. This said, it rates a 3/10 on the Virgil-care-o-meter. I doubt sanctions ever hindered NK's nuclear ambitions much; I doubt lifting them will dissuade them much. The rationale is self-explanatory.
Who knows, though. Maybe Chairman Kim will get hooked on Netflix and BK Whoppers, and realize nuking America would come with some steep consequences indeed.

... Lifting sanctions on North Korea: I have no idea if it's a good idea ... I don't either. But after reading President Trump's explanation, I think ... wait President Trump didn't give one. Question for you Virgil Showlion, what is the difference between no explanation and a censored explanation if none cares if there is no explanation?

Just to clarify, yesterday top administration officials said this:
"Important actions today from @ustreasury," Trump's national security adviser, John Bolton, tweeted on Thursday. "The maritime industry must do more to stop North Korea's illicit shipping practices. Everyone should take notice and review their own activities to ensure they are not involved in North Korea's sanctions evasion." In a statement announcing the sanctions, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said that the US believes "the full implementation of North Korea-related UN Security Council resolutions is crucial to a successful outcome" of denuclearizing North Korea. "Treasury will continue to enforce our sanctions, and we are making it explicitly clear that shipping companies employing deceptive tactics to mask illicit trade with North Korea expose themselves to great risk," Mnuchin said. And then today:"It was announced today by the U.S. Treasury that additional large scale Sanctions would be added to those already existing Sanctions on North Korea. I have today ordered the withdrawal of those additional Sanctions!" Trump tweeted on Friday. www.cnn.com/2019/03/22/politics/donald-trump-north-korea-sanctions-china/index.htmlAnd as citizens of the US we have nothing to worry about? MAGA?

I think he's approaching NK diplomacy like a business deal. It's not uncommon for a stalled deal to lead to threats, saber rattlings, etc. to get an intractable party to blink, then a rescinding of the threat a short while later. We saw the same thing with with Jeff Bezos and Gov. Cuomo a few weeks ago. Pres. Trump is a showman. His supporters would call it '4D chess', but it's just theater hoping to exploit the vagaries of human psychology. That's my best guess.

Of course, Kim doesn't live like his serfs - er. countrymen live, but maybe he will finally give a tiny damn about them and avoid destroying the world for them. Who knows, the Grinch's heart grew larger, it could happen to Kim.

I've seen pictures inside of NK. A Bk Whopper and Netflix movie night would seem like paradise to those poor souls. Exactly so. In colonial times, the French and Dutch often wrested control of native and half-native settlements from the English by bringing in all kinds of goodies and making everyone's lives comfortable. Once that comfort is there, people have something to lose, and people who have something to lose are a lot less likely to rebel against their benefactors when push comes to shove. That would be the theory behind lifting sanctions and cementing trade/ties between NK and the USA. If NK is getting goodies from Uncle Sam, has investments in Uncle Sam, has close ties to US businesses, etc., the ruling class might think twice about taking actions that threaten those boons. ...in theory, at any rate. It worked well with colonial settlements. Not so much with the Nazis.

Since Trump is President, North Korea Has not launched a missile in 465 days!!
Maybe Kim has been a good boy received a little reward!

I'm thinking his end game is to have a nice condo in North Korea to retire to, so none of his international creditors can go after him...

Didn’t North Korea have an explosion when they launched their last missile, which destroyed their facility? If so, that could be why they haven’t launched a missile since then.

I have no way to verify whether it happened one way or the other. But it irrelevant to the claim you made. I do realize the USA Today article you linked to does have a picture of a missle launching at its start and concludes with sentence about previous missle launches which is just weird since nothing else in the article is related to missile launchings.

As anyone who is a regular reader and poster here knows my feeling of the Donald....though on this decision of his, in a way Ti4.. is correct but in a different way.. He, Trump, wants a comfortable relationship with N Korea and and it's leader while he is in office...He also realizes that with it's nuclear weapons and missals...and it's paranoid leader...it doesn't make sense to really antagonize him...push him to , in his mind, the wall as he is someone who could accept his nations total destruction if he felt his regime, family was being attacked... So as he did with the leader in Saudia Arabia....the murder of the reporter in Turkey, if the guilty ones really being important , in this case their vast quantities of oil and gas to keep the world from collapsing..he will try not antagonize certain influential people who could upset the worlds harmony...and business. He will be pragmatic and if u look back at our former leaders..Roosevelt and on...this is not a new phenonium...been done before...

The missile launched and exploded within seconds, supposedly destroying the tunnels into the facility trapping some and killing others. Facility was damaged, which may account for the 400+ days there has not been a missile launch. That was my point. As this happened in North Korea, where news is sketchy, I wondered if anyone heard anything else about this. I remember hearing about it on the news at th3 t8me.

My research indicates that the site where the tunnels collapsed was a nuclear test faculty and there was no mention of it being a missile launch facility. My research indicated that different sites were where missile test launches took place. My research resulted in no articles indicating anything close to what you are claiming happened. Your cited article makes no reference to it happening. Everything I found gives a different explanation of why the tunnels collapsed.
