Within that article...a good one by the way...was the following statement that I found interesting and hopeful ….but that is me. ---------------------------------------------------- "'Nothing can stop' transition to renewables The EPA also joined 11 other national agencies -- from the Pentagon to the Smithsonian -- in the alarming Black Friday report that warns of a catastrophic future unless drastic steps are taken to slow down man-made climate change. "I think there's enough resilience in the (Earth's) system that we can withstand one four-year term of Donald Trump," says Penn State climatologist Michael Mann."I'm not sure we can withstand two.""

Yeah, no shit. Let's hope some of them wake up to that fact before 2020.

He is LYING to them? I am shocked, shocked I tell you, that Donald Trump would tell a lie! Remember the story of George Washington saying "I cannot tell a lie"? Years hence, there will be stories of Trump saying "I cannot tell the truth."

Biggest private coal miner goes bust as Trump rescue failsRobert E. Murray, the U.S. coal baron who pressed the Trump administration to help save America’s struggling miners, placed his company into bankruptcy as demand for the fossil fuel continues to weaken. Murray Energy Holdings Co. filed for Chapter 11 protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Columbus, Ohio, to restructure more than $2.7 billion of debt. The miner -- the largest privately owned U.S. coal company -- reached a restructuring support agreement with a group of lenders that provides a new $350 million loan to keep operations going during the reorganization, according to the court filing. The move comes more than a year after the Trump administration’s efforts to subsidize struggling nuclear and coal-fired power plants failed, shot down by Trump’s own appointed energy regulators. Some of those plants were Murray Energy’s customers. Robert Murray, a big donor to Trump’s campaign, was instrumental in setting his energy agenda and has hosted multiple fundraisers. Can't fight the laws of economics.
As long as natural gas is cheaper (yay fracking), that's the route that will be taken by power companies.
Has nothing to do with the ideals of any administration.
The coal will always be there waiting, if needed.

You could also see it as Trump having made a good deal for himself. Trump's campaign got Murray's 1 million dollar donation and poor Ol' Murray got nothing. Well, ok, Murray bought a few minutes of air time - when Trump suggested he was going to help the coal industry during his campaign. Perhaps it's more of Murray bought votes (sold his people's votes) for Trump (I have to wonder what coal workers would NOT have voted for Trump after his promise to save coal? Trump's quite the sly old fox. (or atleast the people behind him are).

People working in coal didn't want to hear it because sometimes reality sucks. Does this count as a campaign promise fail?

Maybe the coal industry was hoping Trump would cut a deal with China that included China buying more of our coal?
