Hi. Been doing some random. DH sold some car parts at a swap meet yesterday. I didn't get a count, but, yea, a beginning. (And he didn't buy anything!!)
I listed a few items for local "trash to treasures", all items are supposed to be picked up today.

I forgot how relaxing a weekend is supposed to be without an Open House! Couldn’t sleep last night so I was up late and slept late today. I should be able to finish the 7 bottom rows of the quilt in between work.
I got a last minute editing client on Friday so spending a couple hours going though and making edits to that and meet with the client Monday.

I cleaned my car yesterday and took it through the car wash today. Not on my list but it really needed to be done

I brought up another box from the basement. It is going to the car to go to Goodwill on Tuesday.
Will be recycling the non-working laptop and an old scanner when I go.
Have to load up some of dad's soda cans to return for their nickel and my return to Amazon. The instructions were to take it to the UPS store and they will scan the QR code and take it from there.
I have a 36 page document I need copies of and don't want to print at home so I'm taking that with me.

bean29 , glad you were able to rid of 2 chairs! And I hear you about the hoarding DH. Mine does okay in most departments, but he is a self-proclaimed "sentimental bastard" and keeps way too much. It's contained in his man cave, though, so it doesn't bother me. The outside pile of random stuff in view from the bedroom window, however.... ~~~~~~~~~~ Did a impromptu inventory of my clothing last night. Just on the shelves and rods, not the off season, dresser and other boxed items: 20 or so short sleeve work shirts 2 long sleeve folded shirts 6 or so long sleeve hanging work shirts
2 sweatshirts, 1 sweater
Several stacks of casual weekend t-shirts 10 skirts of varying lengths and textures 4 pairs of pants which fit, 1 that almost does... 3 capris 2 jeans Random things like a poncho from Mexico, a long vest, 2 bathrobes, wedding dress, designer dress, leather skirt, sequined skirt... A shelf of work out gear A shelf of camping wear such as camo pants, long johns, etc. ETA: 5 blazers and a jean jacket
Things are getting fairly streamlined, which I like. It helps simplify the morning work routine. The hall closet contains 3 flannel shirts of varying weight, a zippered sweatshirt, 2 leather jackets, and my winter coat
well, switch the long-sleeve shirts with the sweaters and that seems about what I have. Well, and not that random list you have.

I have 2 big garbage bags of clothes going to be donated tomorrow. I'm not done but I'm making progress. I only have 2 more weeks before my Mom gets here.

Lazy here, trying to make summer last. We had a quick beach getaway this weekend, so nothing happened at home. Now looking at a 5 day work week where only bare minimum will get accomplished. Despise the thought of Fall/Winter.

I went through my clothes again and tried to me more honest and brutal. I got 3 bags of stuff gone. I haven't gone through the accessories, or all the pants, but I was trying stuff on and got tired of changing clothes. I have a bunch of closets to go through, especially the spare room which will eventually be the younger son's room. The house is a ranch built in the 50's so the closets are not big and does not take a lot to get them full.

I got dressed this am and realized the jacket I put on had a small stain on it. Tried to remove it and ended up with a huge wet spot, and it still had a tiny spot. Took it off. Then tried to grab a jacket/top DD bought for me. The top ended up being huge, I took it off, and realized it was an XL - I have never been that large, I must have exchanged a M for a L and ended up with a XL. GRR - shirt is bound for my next Goodwill run. So the outfit I am wearing is the third one I put on. Grr. I got up extra early b/c I decided my Dogs need a walk in the am before they go to Grandma and Grandpa's.
I Purged another car load of junk to Goodwill on Saturday. DH was looking for a tool yesterday evening and he went through a huge box in the garage and tossed most of it. In trying to help him find what he was looking for, I asked him what a plastic shovel looking tool was and he said it was the tool to clean the chute on a snowblower. He decided it belongs with the Snowblower he gave his Dad last year. I need him to help me organize the garage - I don't know what I am looking at in his boxes of stuff. I am pretty good with Electrical stuff, but I am at a loss with Plumbing stuff. He will probably be working on the rentals for the next two months, although he told me yesterday he is going to hire someone. I also found DH's large pipe wrench - but not the silver plumbing tool he was looking for. He was also looking for plumber's putty (found 2 jars of that in his workroom) and I had the cement stuff for plastic pipes right in front on a shelf - he apparently moved it and IDK what he did with it, could not find it. Hopefully he took it to the rental.
I found a plastic container of water slippers/shoes. I added a few that were new/almost new to my goodwill collection and tosses some others. Washed the plastic container. I also have a plastic container of cookie cutters in the house. I am going to donate, but Peter Walsh talked about taking pictures of memory items before you donate them. My Grandma used to use little heart shaped tins to bake mini-heart cakes. Those pans are in that box, so I am going to wash them up and take a picture and then they will be gone.

Very productive, ladies! I'm not sure what it is about this time of year. Last year over Labor Day weekend is when I did the HUGE clothes purge. This weekend: Office: Expanded 2 into 3 file cabinets, and labeled the drawers. This allowed for more space so I could file manila folders that had been waiting HOW long? There's still about 18" worth of loose items that needs to be filed, but one step at a time. I also brought a box full of shredding back home which leads me to: Burn Party: DH built an outdoor fire Saturday night, and we went to work. Adult beverages helped. My box contained tax documents from '08-'11. His box was full of random items not quite as old. He figured we burned at least 50 pounds. And I figured I gained about $4 worth of binder clips, LOL. Home office/gym: Yesterday I labeled 4 empty boxes: Goodwill, PD, and Shred, and went to work on the closet. There are now 2 boxes to be taken to Goodwill Wednesday, and 1 box full of stuffed animals to take to the police department. The latter is used by first responders when there is a young person involved in an emergency situation. Desk: I complied random supplies such as stickers, a barely used box of Crayons, two unopened packages of penguin shaped note pads, and a few other items, put it all into a bag, and dropped it off at our 3rd grade teacher neighbor's house this morning. I texted her last night to confirm she could use them, and she seemed appreciative. The Shred box remains empty, as I didn't get to the paper stacks and file drawer. Have a wonderful week, everyone!

Two more showings today and I’m waiting to hear back. The timing may actually work out because someone local wants to hire me in about a month for an event. I’m meeting with them Wednesday to go over details.
The local fair has implemented some additional safety measures this year. Instead of having 4-5 gates there’s just two with security and metal detectors. My parents will come up Friday.

Dropped off 4 boxes of stuff at Goodwill as well as a Christmas tree. Also left a non working laptop and a non-working scanner for recycling.
This clearing out is starting to feel really good.

Last week I donated all of DH's suits and his boots to a Suits For Success drive. He will never be able to wear any of them again so off they went. He was sad about it but awarhe will never ever be able to get any of them on his body again. Now I just need to declutter my foggy brain, 20 pounds and find a job. I'm debating volunteering somewhere. I am BORED!!!

This week's goal is to catch up on laundry and unload the kitchen table.
I realized I can't put the file holder on the fridge. It would interfere with the cabinet door opening. Back to the drawing board.
I'm good with the file holder but trying to find somewhere to store it besides the kitchen table.

I feel that way about my bedroom. It's amazing how happy a bare patch of floor can make me. It's taken me a long time to get to this place in my head. My basement flooded and boxes have sat in a room in the basement for 8 years. Every time I would open the door, I'd burst in to tears and shut the door. I think by decluttering upstairs and finding out how good that felt (not without hiccups), I am finally at a place in my own head that I know it's time to let this stuff go. I'm also pleasantly surprised that there wasn't more damage. I think we did get the worst of it out of there right away, while the city would pick up everything for free.

I took this past weekend off from my parent's house. I'm sure there will be very little progress made when I go back.

I took this past weekend off from my parent's house. I'm sure there will be very little progress made when I go back. I'm sorry. There have been times when I thought I might have hoarding tendencies, especially about the room in the basement. I've watched Hoarders and it made me feel good about my house because nothing looks like any of those houses. Now that I've overcome the emotional hurdle of "that room", I can do this. I also know there are times when I have to step back or I get too overwhelmed by it. I'm trying not to pay for a dumpster so I am limited to what I can put out with my trash. I am willing to pay for extra tags if I get to that point. This week, I had my car pretty well loaded for the trip to Goodwill.

Or is your mom still hanging on to the stuff? She is more willing to let go of stuff, and we have taken 2 generic trailer loads of trash to the (I have no idea what size it is). A couple of loads to Goodwill. The current issue is most of the boxes are things that were already in the house and therefore more "precious". I'm expecting to do this unboxing and then trying to get her to do a deeper clearing out when you can see the furniture again. She doesn't like to throw anything away, she wants to give it to someone. Her kids, her niece, the people who worked for Servpro, anyone. This is more progress than we've made in ages though, so I'm taking what I can get.

My parents are coming up at the end of this week and I realized it’s the first time they’ll see the house staged since the were last here in early July before we went on the market. I might ask if I can send them home with a few boxes so I can clear up space in the closet and garage for more packing.
I am working on the last 7 rows of the quilt today and hope to have them attached by Thursday. Then it’s just the final columns and I can square it up. Should be ready to quilt by the end of the month.
House wise it feels like I haven’t done much since I have had 5 showings in 6 days and no space to pack another half dozen boxes. I’m slowly running out of things to pack so I’ll need to start in the kitchen and then cleaning supplies soon.

I am in such a funk. I don't feel like doing anything around the house. This kitchen remodel is a debacle. We still haven't decided on cabinets. The lighting lady is coming Friday to help us with lighting layout and we will make a decision to get that done. Then the ceiling can be put back up. Kids are going back to school next week. We have all their school supplies purchased. Kids have eye doctor appointments next week. Kids are getting haircuts today. We have had a broken window in our house since last March. Finally made the call for someone to come measure on Thursday (can't take window out) and get that fixed. I need to clean our house. It is such a mess. I'm hoping to find the energy Thursday/Friday this week. Especially since there are people coming in to do things. So embarrassing. I need to keep up with this tread, because it really is motivating to read the progress everyone is making.

I understand, ohmomto2boys. My house is in perpetual stages of destruction. Piles of repair materials, gardening supplies and laundry get mixed in with the everyday things in use. Hard to keep eyes on the goal when you can't find your glasses.

That doesn't work so I'm trying the more patient approach while prodding as much as possible to let stuff go. It's slow progress but it's progress.
