moneysquirrel, I definitely needed to hear that. I did way too much on the physical chores this morning. I should have spread them out throughout the day. It's taken me a few hours to recover. Ticking off a few tasks so far. Plus a nap to help me with the pain the garage and vacuuming caused.
Part of the problem is we have a mouse in the laundry room, where the dog food is kept, and we're trying to keep up with that issue.

Today wasn't as productive as yesterday, because I sure am stiff and sore after yesterdays adventures, but I still got some things done. This morning the bathrooms got cleaned, then I went for a swim to try and work out some of the kinks. This afternoon I have worked at dusting and vacuuming with a side trip to the garden to pick some raspberries. The dusting is mostly done and the vacuuming did get done. The last area of the yard is being watered and lunch is made for tomorrow. DGD had the best weekend in toddlerhood. She got to roast a marshmallow in the fire pit and make smore's two nights in a row. One night she even got to stay up late to see DaDa. Since he is heading into the ultra long hours of farming seeing DaDa every day isn't a given. She also got to pick raspberries out of the garden and eat them, that is always fun. Then today when they were at home depot some firemen were also there and they gave her a plastic junior fire fighter hat.

I spent today doing all of my normal weekly cleaning tasks, so I am starting out this week ahead of the game. Luckily Indiana didn't get the memo that it's the end of June and has been giving us spring like weather the past 2 weeks. My A/C is off and I am loving it.
My to do list is rather "short" now:
Take yard sale items to my mother's (she's hosting our multi family yard sale this year) Thyroid ultrasound Wednesday afternoon (send good vibes as my Dr. felt nodules at my exam last week) Drop off recycling Grocery Store Mow/Weedeat Finish weeding south side of deck flower bed (its the last one that needs attention) Strip deck stain Replace 2 busted deck boards Deliver sponsor recognition plaques for baseball sponsors Help DS1 clean/organize his bedroom Clean area rug in LR Create spreadsheet for tshirt orders (baseball related task) Call bank re: auto loan question

Two more items out the door. Keep up the good work nikiz628. Sharon great job with yard work. I did manage to trim one bush and pull a few weeds.

I saw a few more things this morning that can be donated. I'll pull those out of the closet tonight and start the new donation pile.
The goals this week are to keep up with daily stuff and get ready for Saturday's party. I need to make it to Sunday.

I have a million things I want to do around the house this summer and we are entering week 4 of summer break already. This week I want to get the drywall off the ceiling in the kitchen. The cabinet maker is coming tomorrow night to see the space and finish up design and finalize quote. After the ceiling is down, we can focus on replacing lights. Next step will be to have the ceiling installed, replace patio door and finish the drywall around the door. Hoping the kitchen cabinets can be made and installed sometime in September or October at the latest. We won't remove existing cabinets until the week before cabinets are ready for install. After kitchen is done, we can think about flooring. We are going to be broke.

Sharon great job around the house! Too cute about DGD. Thinking of you nikiz628 . I just got back from urgent care. I stubbed my toe very badly last night. By this evening half my foot was purple. Went to urgent care on my way home, DH met me there. My toe is very badly sprained (?!) but thankfully nothing is broken. I have meds for the swelling and pain and I need to keep that toe bandaged up with two other toes. While I was at Urgent Care, one Wed professor asked for a Skype. I texted the other Prof who told me she hasn't written what she needs to yet. So in the end I won't need to go in on Wed, but I'll still have a skype class. Frankly I'm super relieved!

A productive crew! DH's BD and Solstice party went well. Mom Nature was crabby and produced a hail storm right before people started arriving. The good news is because of the moisture we continue to have, we were able to have a campfire. After the downpour, the sky produced a double rainbow which delighted everyone. 28 people, 3 dogs, great conversations and a ton of food. It was a good time. Beforehand: Dusted the entire rec and guest rooms Emptied the dishwasher and hand washed dishes Made pasta salad and premixed one of the specialty cocktails
Fussed with lighting for ambiance purposes
Picked up our room

Went to see sister today. BIL had a scare with dad last Monday. It was the no answer the phone or door thing. He doesn't have a key so he went to the office and they let him in to the apartment. Dad was sitting at the dining room table doing word puzzles and didn't hear him until he pounded on the table. Then he would only change one hearing aid. BIL had decided in his mind that if dad had died he wasn't telling sister and was going to let her enjoy her vacation. I told them I concurred with that line of thought. Sister and half sister have a contentious relationship at best. That is sugar coating it. She said there is no way she would contact her or send her any photos of herself. She does agree that the one photo I questioned is her but she shouldn't have it. I even said she has probably never seen a picture of herself as a baby and she said "she doesn't need to see one now" Other than that the visit went well. I transferred photos from flash drive to her computer and then to an external hard drive.

TheOtherMe I'm sure you will do the right thing. Your sister doesn't need to know. Exactly what I've decided. Now I am in the mode of working up the courage to call my half sister. After 7 years, it will take some courage on my part. Sister said last night to put picture in an envelope with questions re her children and grandchildren and send them to her. I know I'd not respond well to that so I will call her. If she wants the photo it's hers. Sister did ask if the photo is scanned so I showed them to her on her own computer.

I just bought the most expensive shoes I have ever bought in my entire life (I'm 59). My Merrell low hiking shoes are VERY worn. I just ordered an identical pair. I bought the last pair on sale. They lasted for 6 years. Hopefully this pair will last for another 6 years, in which case I could probably justify the price.

Haha!!! After I ordered them, I went back on Amazon ... and found the same pair, 30 euros ($36) cheaper. Trust me, that price was NOT available when I first ordered them! So I cancelled my first order, and ordered the (supposedly exact same) cheaper pair. They'll take longer to arrive, but that's fine with me, if I pay $36 less.
I just hope they haven't changed their sizing ... I ordered the same size I've been wearing for the last 6 years. I have a pair of Merrell hiking sandals in the same size too. I would have liked to replace the sandals too, but that can wait until next year.

My colleagues have been super sweet, so I did keep my foot up all afternoon. We're in pairs, and my afternoon colleague did all the walking.
I'm better now with the meds and (especially) my toe taped up. But I'm definitely not calling in sick. This is my best-paid job of the year, so I'll do it even if I have to crawl there LOL.

I don't know if you remember the Disney coloring book that was in my mom's things. I took that with me today. She was really happy to get that. It looked like some of her kids colored in it when they visited Grandma and Grandpa. debthaven. I broke my big toe when I was a kid. I still remember the throbbing. The next morning, mom took me to the doctor and it was taped to the next toe. I could walk then while it healed.

I’m still enjoying my mini vacation. Today I saw a matinee, swam in the pool and sunbathed, picked up some fabric and the quilt shop owner gave me a GARBAGE BAG full of scraps for free. I’m going through it in my friend’s apartment and there are a lot of good things and only a small bit I can’t use.
I’ve also been working on my sciences quilt and have a little bit more to sew tonight before laying out the next rows.
Heading home in a few days to coordinate the new gutters, indoor repairs and pack up more boxes. My parents will take a load of boxes and 4 pieces of furniture to store in their old home while I stage. I’m looking to get on the market in 3 weeks!

Kids were out May 30th. Go back Aug 22nd. My summer work schedule is 6:30 am - 12:30 pm. I got almost 1/2 of the kitchen ceiling down yesterday. I plan to work on it again on Friday - hopefully get the remainder down. Today I need to sweep the entire house. Dust. Laundry. Organize/clean kitchen since the cabinet guy is coming tonight. Super excited.

I threw a passenger bag (I think that is what it is called) in the garbage this am. It is a nylon bag with drawstrings kind of like a backpack and it says Nike on it. It was my DD's probably in middle school or grade school. I had three. Blue, Orange, and Black. I gave the Blue one to my Great Nephew when I gave his sister a backpack we had. I use the bags to carry a spare pair of shoes in to work occasionally. The string on one broke, and it did not appear to be repairable so I threw it in the kitchen garbage. DH was looking at it this am and asking me why I threw it away. I knew it was going to be a problem when I put it there!
I am anxiously awaiting DS and his GF to move into their new house. I have quite a few rugs that they might want. I don't care if they want them or not, but I want them out of my house if they don't want them. DS told me to wait another week. I have a coffee pot out downstairs. It seems to me that it leaked all over when DD tried to use it, and possible it is the wrong carafe. I wanted to tell DH to test it and see if it leaks. I have a hair appointment today, Day trip with DD tomorrow, I have to fix MIL's dress Thurs/Friday (because when I wanted to do it a month ago DH blew me off and basically said it did not need to be done, now he told me my priorities are messed up and I should be fixing his mother's dress and getting ready for the wedding). I thought I could fix it but my MIL seemed a little concerned about it so now I am doubting myself. It is like a mesh with beads on it, I can only take it up about an inch before the beads are in the way. MIL thought if I just shortened the shoulder straps, it would lift the whole dress a bit and it would be long enough. she also told me that because of the way it bells out and floats it was fine, did not need to be shortened...and now DH is giving me sh!t. Grr.
MIL and I communicate pretty well, but sometimes details could use a translator. DH and I have not been at her house together very much of late, either he is there w/o me, or I am there w/o him. I think I can manage it all, but the neighbors are being given a key to come in and let the dogs out, so we want to clean the house too. I plan to lock my office and my bedroom at least. I can lock my kids rooms, but I think I can just pick up in DD's room and DS's room. I have to find a pair of shoes unless I wear one pair I have. I have some stuff in my cart, but no Macy's coupons right now, and I did not review my shoes in my closet to see what sizes my more recent purchases are. I plan to hit DSW at Mall of America with DD tomorrow. My dress is black, so I should be able to find something without too much trouble. Weighed my self this am ~130. I don't actually know how accurate my scale is though. I could stand to lose a few lbs, but I am probably not going to be motivated to lose any weight unless it is one of my own kids getting married.

Because of the heat wave, only cars with the best "pollution ratings" are allowed on the roads in and near Paris tomorrow, and probably the rest of the week.
I stupidly forgot to order a "pollution sticker" for my new car. I just ordered it tonight online, but it will take 10 days to arrive. Hopefully my car registration will suffice. I'm in the suburbs at Job 2 on Thurs and Fri, so hopefully they won't be as strict.

Yes bean29 it's crazy hot here! The last time this happened was 2003. A LOT of elderly people died. There are constant PSAs on the radio to "check on your loved ones". DS2 + GF came for dinner and to sleep here tonight to get a (slight) break from the heat. (It's several degrees cooler here than in Paris.) We can't leave Bunny in his cage in this heat, so we'll leave him in the kitchen overnight. (We only put him into his cage to sleep.) He used to have the run of the house (except at night) but now the old guy is pretty incontinent. During the day he hangs out in the garden. The gardener came yesterday, the garden looks great! He couldn't believe how much DH and I had done. He'll be back in the fall to prune and fix up behind the house (which was messed up during last year's subsidence repairs).
I am SO HAPPY not to have to go into work tomorrow.
bean29 if shortening the shoulder straps works for your MIL's dress, it sounds like that would be much easier than taking up the hem, with the beading.

I also met a friend for lunch and came home to pay a few bills. Still waiting on one monthly bill to come in. I also added several items to the donation box and/or trash. Trash items are counted in my total. Donation box items will be added once they are picked up. It will be awhile as I usually wait until I have at least several boxes before I call for pickup. Second box has been started. Small progress but progress nevertheless. I will try to get a few more items from this list completed before I post the new list this weekend.
