Neighbor was out mowing so I talked to him. No, he didn't know that strip of mulch belonged to him. He put it back (it will return to my yard during the next hard rain) and mowed.
I'm thankful it was an easy resolution.

We saw the accountant for DH's company this week. I was happy to hear that I've been doing QB correctly!
However, I stupidly didn't realize the paper files needed to be organized, since everything is online. The accountant thought that was hilarious. (I had everything he needed, it was just in one big pile.) So I spent 2h this morning filing last year's papers and creating files for this year's papers.
Now that that's set up, it will be easy to keep them organized going forward.

Yeah on doing QB correctly!
Yes, now that the files are set up, it won't take much time to file paperwork.

I have lots to catch up on at home. I did just shred my huge shred pile at work. It was over a foot tall. Now that's done.

the first floor is pollen free! I still need to clean the bathroom this afternoon before my weekend guest arrives tonight, but that can wait til I get back from picking up the pups from daycare trial day 1. guest room is all set, bed is made, towels laid out, dusted.

When I started the photo scanning project. there was a professional photo of a baby in my uncle's photos. I wasn't sure who the baby was.
Last week, I found the same photo in my mom's photos. It appears it had been in a billfold.
The baby is my half-sister. So I now have a pristine photo of her as a baby and one that was most likely in dad's billfold.

TheO could you text or email her first, saying you'd love to speak to her? That puts the ball in her court.

Last I knew, she didn't have a cell phone or email. She only has a landline.
That puts the ball in my court.

Just call and tell her you have a photo of her as a baby that you'd like to mail her. Maybe call when you know the answering machine will pick up?

I looked last night to see when her husband died. It was spring of 2012. That's the last time I talked to her.
I have some other photos of her as a baby. They are copied on 8 x 10 paper. I need to get those copied and then I will make the call and offer the stuff to her.
She is 73 and retired. I have no idea of when the answering machine will pick up so I will just have to get my courage up and do it after I find the other photos.
There is one of her with both of her parents. Her mother graduated high school with my mother. I think it was at their 60th reunion, her mother came for the first time. She told dad my half sister didn't have any pictures of her parents together and could one be taken. I've never understood why, but my mother said no. So it didn't happen.
That's why I think she will especially like the photocopy of the three of them--her family of origin.

Very bad weekend/upcoming week for me ... WAY too much going on. - Book club Thurs (I never go during my play period so I try to go when my play is over.) - DH's outdoor concert Fri night (first time in public) - I worked all day today - housewarming dinner at very close friends' tonight- theater troupe annual summer BBQ tomorrow Then working 5 long days next week, with a 6am alarm for 4 of those 5 days. I do my DAMNDEST to avoid this. I KNOW I don't do well when this happens. But sometimes it's unavoidable, despite my best efforts. This is one of those times.
I could cancel my Wed classes but I don't want to, because it's the last stretch, and because good money. It makes no sense to have accepted an extra day on Mon just to cancel Wed.
The good news is, Job 3 and Saturdays are done for this year (except one Sat for Job 1 in Oct and one Sat in Job 2 in Feb).

I win the pigpen award as I have been working in the yard all day. Right now just taking a break and then need to get back to weeding the garden. I am so dirty I hope I don't have to call the plumber to unclog the drain once I hit the shower this evening. Feels good though to get some long over due work done.

You need to live down here, Sharon. Some folks have outdoor showers to rinse off the sand from the beach. It is hotter than heck here today. I did run some errands with DS, but am thankful to be indoors working in air-conditioned comfort. We've got another heat wave here. The air "feels" like it's over 100 degrees outside.

I had 32 tasks on my list today. I've completed at least 16 of them so far. In that list was cleaning up my shoe shelves. One pair went in the trash, but I'd already purchased a pair this week to replace them. I did toss some shoes boxes as I'm running out of room.
It's summer time, so I need to do my annual massive purge. Hopefully I can be more pragmatic than sentimental.

Is there anything you could cross of your list, debthaven? Remember, sanity is the priority. I'm not having much luck with my "to do" list. Every time I cross something off, something else comes up that I need to add onto it.

This was a very product day and I am tired, tired, tired. Before heading out to work in the yard I got YNAB caught up, balanced my check book, changed the sheets and started laundry. The garden is now weeded, still need to do some work in the berries, but that is okay. The big flower bed in the front has also been weeded. The front bed tends to get so hot you can only work out there in the morning on cloudy days. Since I spent so much of last summer working on ripping out the old kitchen floor the yard was really neglected, now I am trying to whip it back into shape. We also had all those bad air quality days last summer from the forest fire smoke the discouraged yard work.

Sorry, the award is gathering dirt and leaves in my shed. You KNOW you're a pigpen when you have to keep scrub brushes in the shower because wash clothes don't work! I go barefoot when I do yard work.😁 I don't like shoes.

All of you have been busy. The heat index for us has been 100+ most days so I have been trying to do as much as possible in the mornings such as running errands, watering the poor thirsty plants and any other outdoor activities. Not always successful but doing so whenever I can. Lots of water (often in frozen bottles when running errands -- so that the melting parts stay colder longer) while running those morning errands. The heat exhausts one if outdoors for an extended time. That said I have an outdoor afternoon craft activity next weekend so I will be freezing several bottles of water this week. Hope that I have some sales but who knows. This week goals and commitments:* Lab tests -- Monday (I plan for Monday -- sometime this week at least) *Doctor #2 Appointment -- Tuesday *Meeting with S -- Friday * Insurance -- this week *Craft Show -- Saturday *Set up tray and finish a few items -- before Saturday *Renewal -- Computer protection due (Firewall and Virus protection, etc) *Organize one area each day *Maintain clutter free areas *Keep up with the usual items -- laundry, dishes, etc. *Work on project #2 from retreat #3 will try to finish this one this week --(#1 is finished) *Crochet a few rows of project *Work on project #2 from retreat #1 (Retreat #2 project has been completed) *A least thousands more items I can't remember

Whelp. I had the 32 tasks from yesterday, and I completed 19 of them. That means that 13 will transfer to today. Sure seems like I did more than that yesterday, but oh well.
I have to determine how much more I can get done today, plus I need to prep for the week.

debthaven -- Good news on the QB situation. Now that you know about the paper files it will be a piece of cake to get everything done in a few minutes. You can get through this week. Take some time for yourself afterwards. You deserve it. Sharon -- Good news on the yard work. I can no longer keep up with flower beds as my allergies prevents me from doing so. TheOtherMe -- Glad that your scanning project is so fulfilling. Also happy that you met your new neighbor and that he is now aware of the mulch situation. startsmart -- Enjoy your vacation. Glad that you have made some decision on your house. Now have fun. chiver78 -- Pollen free is always the goal. One of the major reasons I don;t open windows at certain times of the year. busymom -- Welcome to the deep south where all chores in the summer are done before 11 am if possible and afternoon thunderstorms just makes everything steamy. Knee Deep in Water Chloe -- Don't forget that you are still recovering. Give yourself some slack about completing things off your list. ners and wvugurl26 --Shredding items and items out the door is great. My donation box in the garage is slowing filling up. With the emphasis on slowly.

Weekend socializing done. Today's theater troupe BBQ was 5 min from here, and I left early. A was in the neighborhood so she stopped by. She wanted to see the 2 new bedrooms. She loved how they turned out. I wanted her to see the garden so she could give me some suggestions. I'll probably ask another friend for her suggestions and then decide. DH had me make a short video for the gardener, since I won't be here when he comes tomorrow. We're expecting a heat wave all week. We don't have AC. We brought the fans up from the basement. No missing fans this year. (Last year DS2 + DD took their fans to their new apartments. I replaced them but I can't do that every year.) There's a fan for the LR + all the bedrooms except DD's. (DD never sleeps here anymore but there's one in the guest room if she needs one.)

Do what you can to stay cool next week.
My a/c will be getting it's first big test of the summer later this week. Hope it can maintain without needing any kind of repairs.

Still on the scanning project and trying to find stuff before I call my half sister.
I was wrong about the photocopied photos being of her with her parents. I can only find the two baby photos of her and a professionally taken photo taken when she was 2 1/2. I am 99.9% certain my sister will not care if I send the photos to her.
Thankfully, I found the family history sheet with her children's information on it, so I don't have to say "I know I have the info on your grandkids somewhere but I can't find it". I know she had one great grandchild the last time I talked to her. I'm guessing in 7 years there have been more so I hopefully can get that information from her.
Some bad memories in there. Her youngest son's baby was beaten to death by his mother and her new boyfriend. Yes, they went to jail, but what a sad time. He is buried with half-sister's daughter who died from spinal meningitis in 1969.
I do want my sister to see what I have. She is home from vacation as of last night so I plan to call her tomorrow to see if I can go to her house and show her this information before I offer it to half-sister.

Oh that's so tragic TheO. I don't know if you remember that we mentioned that a theater friend who lives in our suburb will be selling her house in the next year or two. DH mentioned it a year ago. G hosted the theater BBQ today, so I asked her to please give me a quick tour. She has only 2 real bedrooms, so that definitely wouldn't work for us. I'm relieved.
