Knee Deep in Water Chloe I love all the privacy in your backyard! Mine has a view of all the neighbors, but we're working on it. We planted a few trees already. I also took a bunch of stuff to the auction to sell. I'm making progress this week. Of course, I slacked off and didn't do much last month.

I spent 7 8 hours cleaning the garden today, and DH spent 4 5. At least it shows now!!! We were so busy with the house problems last spring that we did nothing but the lawn. I've also been taking the ivy off the shared fence because my neighbor totally neglects that part of his garden. I still hate doing it but I have to admit it's satisfying to see the results. My friend A is a VERY avid gardener. She has a GORGEOUS huge garden. She LOVES gardening. She thinks it's hilarious that I'm so impatient. She says (affectionately) you're the same way with your gardening as you are with your marking ... it all needs to be done yesterday. She's not wrong LOL.

This Grandma still has laundry skills. DD and family came over for dinner last night and DD was provoked with her daycare lady. Apparently they were making Father's day gifts and she didn't have a rag in hand to wipe DGD's hands when she made her paint handprint for Daddy. Needless to say while daycare lady was getting a cloth to wipe hands DGD wiped them herself on her overalls. Now DD is a champion laundry doer since DSIL is a farmer and she get all kinds of clothes with dirt/chemicals/diesel etc that most of don't even think about but she was planning on DGD wearing those overalls today for a family party. I told her I would get the overalls washed before they came back today. It has been many years since I have had to wash that tempra paint out of clothes but it came out and I even got it off the white stitching on the overalls.

I hate how our yard looks. It was completely neglected last year. The back yard got tore up to do the patio and new AC. The patio didn't get completely finished because we had a record year for rain. Now DH's working on putting in a shed. He won't let me do anything and I can't say anything because his response is he's working on stuff.
I'm mad that stupid vine is back. I thought I might have killed it in December. It grows up on front porch and you get attacked by it and it's full of thorns. I put Christmas lights up and it was in my way so I chopped the heck out of it with needle nose pliers. We didn't have any pruning shears. Sadly it survived.

Yay for Grandma laundry skills Sharon ! DH is the same, he can get stains out of anything! I think that like sewing, it's a dying art. wvugurl26 if you have even a small garden, you NEED pruning shears and gloves. In my experience the pretty stuff dies, but the ugly/prickly stuff lives forever. Your vine sounds like my pyracantha which has been taken out TWICE yet still lives.

I have gloves. We both have gloves. I will buy shears this summer. We had some from a friend who moved away and when he bought another house he wanted them back. A discount store has been advertising them. I'm going to go look today.

I only have one bush to trip and I have pruning shears. The bush finally got to big for me to trip it with grass clippers so I gave in a few years ago and got pruning shears. Works much better than the grass clippers did. Sharon Yeah! for getting the paint out of the overalls. My sister, being married to a hog farmer and having taught pre-K all these years, can gets almost everything out of laundry. It's another reason she wants to do dad's laundry. He isn't the least bit concerned about stains. I've spent much of the day messing with photos. They are more fun than cleaning or decluttering. At first, Lucy didn't care for the recliner. Now she thinks it belongs to her. Didn't take long.

We have a third of an acre with 7 large trees and many beds with plants and shrubs. I do love gardening but can see that this will be too much in probably 10 years. So we either downsize or hire to do the work. Struggling as always with that decision. Happy to be here now.

Taking a break while purposely at the office today. There are things in my in box from mid-May. Bills paid
Dishes done, plants watered, kitchenette wiped down, mini fridge cleared out, shredding and garbage ready to go out 1.5 stacks taken care of 1 stack filed And, put me into the I dislike gardening/weed pulling, but love doing laundry categories. Back to it....

I had a little gardening work to do this morning when it was cool out. Weeds are up and the rock barrier is moved so the neighbors landscaper can do their magic.
Inside I am catching up on dishes and laundry and started on the office packing and staging. I ordered more packing tape and will probably take a drive tomorrow to pick up more boxes.
I want to be done in the office by Monday and then I’ll have about a week off. Car goes in for new tires and alignment on Tuesday, plus I have about $350 due in car insurance, registration and AAA member dues. It’s gonna be an expensive car month, for sure.

I love gardening, but I have definitely cut back on what I do each year. I have a beautiful bed in the front that I meticulously planned and planted after we finished the house addition. My deck outback also has nice landscaping around it. We used to do a big vegetable garden, but found that we just can't get out to care for it like we used to. We haven't done one for two years now. I miss it but I know that someday we will have more time for it.
I have one bed near my deck that needs my attention soon. It's the only one I neglected to install landscape fabric under before mulching and its being overrun with grass and weeds.

I have to talk to a neighbor behind me who moved in to their house over the winter.
Don't think they know they own about a mower wide strip of land at the bottom of their retaining wall. Previous owner mulched it but the mulch washes in to my yard when it rains very hard. After the spring we have had, the mulch is now all over my yard. Previous owner always took care of the mulch after storms. They camp every weekend so I can't deal with it until tomorrow.
If I have to fix it, the mulch will be removed that is in my yard.

I also took a bunch of stuff to the auction to sell. I'm making progress this week. Of course, I slacked off and didn't do much last month. The potential for privacy is one of the reasons we purchased this property. We've allowed some of the tall bushes to increase in height just to block areas. We've planted additional trees that are coming in nicely to create walls. We have an actual road in the back of our property, and that's another reason for mass amounts of privacy while still have a usable yard.
Aspens grow quickly, if you want to plant more trees and they're amicable to your growing zone.

Working through my last school district postcard project for the year.
We're leaving for work trips for the next week. The first one is just DH having to work, but I'm going also as he's going from that one to the next one without coming home. I have to be at the next one. I'm nervous about leaving DD home just because of the seizure. She's a trustworthy kid. Spoiled, but trustworthy. I've given her the list of tasks to do each day--feed the dog, water the porch plants, etc.
I did most of my packing yesterday.
I also have some bills to pay today.

This morning I installed the garden barrier for the little rock area in the backyard and now I need to haul the two more bags of rocks back there to spread them out.
I've been working diligently in the office and it is 90% packed (for staging purposes) and I am up to 100 boxes done (mostly kitchen, decor, books). After I get everything I can from the office packed I think the bedroom and bathrooms will be a breeze.
I took down a few pictures and wall hangings and have been moving things around for staging. Still will need to patch wall holes and touch up paint but I'll do that when I get back.
It's now my goal to have 150ish boxes done before I leave for vacation and yeah, I still need to pack for vacation, close down one bank account, interview a contractor for repairs and one for gutters, make keys for the realtor, get my tires replaced and make a trip to Goodwill.
I leave in... 72 hours? lol
Luckily, I went to Ikea yesterday 30 min before closing ( aka when all the kids are home eating dinner) and picked up the curtains I needed and was out within 15 minutes.
AND instead of driving 30 minutes to pick up boxes, UHaul has a new storage facility in my town that's open 7 days a week. I need a couple special sized boxes for picture frames and mirrors and such so it's nice that it's a 5 minute drive away.
ETA: I got the picture frame boxes and another 25 small boxes so I can keep packing. My bedroom is basically done except for clothes but those will stay during the showings anyway.
I packed a few items from the bathroom but will tackle that in earnest after the office.
I am organizing all the random electronics and cords, donating and tossing a LOT.

Good luck startsmart ! You've gotten a lot done. We basically finished the garden clean-up today. It's not perfect. I took down all the ivy on the shared fence but there's more weeding to do. We put out 14 bags of garden refuse + the garden refuse bin. (Pickup is tomorrow). I hope they take it all. We spent 38h gardening in the past week. No wonder I'm fed up! My seamstress friend finished the curtains and chair seat. I'll pick them up after work tomorrow.
I took DH out for lunch today for Father's Day, just the two of us LOL. DS2 + GF came for coffee and cake this afternoon, then DD came for dinner. (The other two kids are abroad.)

I have only seen the man mowing his lawn on a riding mower.

BIL, DN3 and I visited dad and played his favorite card game, cribbage. Dad was really out of it, asking if I had seen his apartment and would I like to see it. He also said mom died 3 years ago and that's when he moved there. Wrong on that, too.
He doesn't seem content about sister being gone. She left an itinerary for him. She did call to wish him Happy Father's Day when we were there. She told BIL she called then because she figured we were there and we wouldn't let him go to the door.
I've pulled weeds since it rained last night and they are easy to pull then.

TheOtherMe it sounds like your neighbor is unaware of the situation. I don't know what he uses for mulch but maybe bigger pebbles would be less likely to "travel" in the rain? It sounds like your Dad had a nice Father's Day.

I don't think the neighbor has a clue he even owns that strip that is a mower's width wide but it was grass when I moved here. Those house were built 7 or 8 years before mine. My backyard was dirt when I moved here. I'm sure the original owners were thrilled when we finally put sod in.
I think dad did have a nice Father's Day.
I scanned 100 photos this evening. There are probably 50 more in the envelope.

I did some work in the garage today, breaking down some cardboard boxes and tossing some misc stuff, worked on that until the garbage can was full and the recycle bin is full. Then I worked on sweeping the back patio and once again digging out stuff between the decking boards. This also included sweeping the cement patio. Then I mowed the lawn, between all that I filled 1 of my yard debris bins. If I had worked harder I probably would have had them both filled but I took lots of rest breaks today. I also spent time today looking for the little potty seat that makes the toilet set smaller and not so scary for the little ones. I had run across it when DD was pregnant with DGD but do you think I can find it again now that we need it, no way.

I haven’t worked so hard in one weekend in AGES and my body is reminding me of that fact. I think I’ll go take a bath to soothe my aching hip and then pick up again tomorrow.
I did go through a huge tub of client paperwork and only kept 1 file - the rest is getting recycled!
I have another tub of business paperwork to tackle tomorrow.
List pre-vacation: Pay car registration, insurance and membership Get new tires and alignment completed Take donation to goodwill Unpack boxes from car Drop off gifts for J in town Cancel BW bank accounts Pack for trip * include gift for G* Pick extra hangers for mom Get gutters quote Get contractor quote Clean out fridge and freezer

We went to breakfast this am, and when I went to grab the necklace to go with my outfit, it was tangled with a few others, and then I could only find one wearring. That necklace was put in a mesh drawstring bag, along with the correct earrings. This afternoon, I matched about 20 pair of earrings and put them in little plastic bags I have for my pills. Two necklaces were tossed b/c broken.
Gave a kitchen aid food processor attachment to my mother. DH brought home from our rental-I have never owned a kitchen aid so I was quite annoyed with him, but she seemed happy with it.

I've realized that I prefer to see my jewelry rather than have it tucked away--necklaces are hanging on Command hooks on the inside of the closet doors, bracelets are on a "display" stand like many stores have, rings are on a "hand" display, and I think I may get this for my earrings: www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90413930/

I have a jewelry armoire similar to the above. If is full though. I could buy a bigger one, but they are pretty pricy. I think I will watch on FB marketplace and or just clean the one I have out. This one has space for rings on the top and a mirror like the picture. I don't change my rings often/don't have too many rings. My inside my closet door space is being used for DH's ties. behind the closet door, we store the ironing board if we have company.
I think if I just make some decisions on getting rid of stuff I have not worn in years I would be better off.
