Now going through DH's clothes. He keeps telling me we're done, but we keep finding more. He's filled 3 big bags for the donation bin, and we're still not done. At least he agreed to go through everything BEFORE putting it all back in the new bedroom. DS2 was supposed to come over tonight, in the end he's coming tomorrow. I'm glad, because his room looks like a warzone. We won't finish tonight, but we should have made good progress.

Done today:- Put away my clothes + shoes from DS2's room/DH's office - Put away our sheets + towels from DS2's room - Unpacked my suitcase and carry-on - Put my bags in the basement - Ordered the new bedroom curtains - Went through + put away DH's clothes + shoes (with DH) - Made DH doc appt - Finished unpacking DH's 2 bags
- Put DH's bags in the basement - Accounting for DH - DH went to donation bin (with 4 bags!!!) - FINALLY finished laundry (10/11 loads, several mini/quick loads) - Shitepile
- Took the extra parquet down to the basement Still to do:- go through the other bags/boxes in DS2's room
I have been working for 11 hours straight, on 1-2 hours' sleep. That's it for today. DS2's room is still a mess, but it's MUCH better. He's coming after lunch tomorrow, so we'll do more tomorrow morning. We realized the upstairs lights don't work ... the painters messed something up. I'm so glad DH agreed to put parquet in our bedroom, otherwise we would have had to empty out the bedroom furniture too. No more carpeting except for the basement stairs! I'll rent a carpet cleaner and clean those stairs this summer. Today was quite rough but I'm so happy our bedroom is done. DH was right, better to have it done while we were gone and have 3 days before I go back to work (although I want that third day off.) There are no more visible "scars" from the subsidence. That makes me very happy.

The half bath and entry way got cleaned today. All of the Easter stuff has been put away and the linens have been swapped. I did a first pass on the paper piles. Suitcases are emptied and back in the basement. Dishwasher is ready to start. So I have a cleaning lady that comes once a month. She came yesterday and my house is sparkly clean. I pay by check → does that count as deep cleaning and one item out the door?

NastyWoman I wish we could do that here! No such animal, it's either once a week or never. DH said, so let's say never. I said no way, so it's once a week LOL. Everything comes here eventually, so I'm hoping that we can do every other week by the time I retire.
Spring semester is over, but this is the usual end-of-school-year craziness when I try to earn as much as possible before summer. For the first time, I’m limiting myself to 5 days a week instead of 6 during this period. I just can't do 6 days a week anymore.
So as of Friday I'm doing: - orals for prospective students (Jobs 1 + 2) - 3-4h/week teaching faculty/staff classes (Job 1) - 6h/week teaching summer semester (Job 2) - marking 83 finals (Jobs 1 + 2) - seasonal Job 3
I’ve pretty much decided to give up Job 3 after this year. But I say that every year, so we'll see.
I just want DS2's bedroom EMPTIED of our Stuff by tomorrow (that won't happen, I know, but hopefully we'll make progress).

So I have a cleaning lady that comes once a month. She came yesterday and my house is sparkly cean. I pay by check → does that count as deep cleaning and one item out the door? My cleaning people also come once a month. Until last time, it had been 3 people. Last time, it was 2 people. They are here about an hour. When I've had one person, they have been here about 3 hours, so it's the same amount of time. My options were weekly, bi-weekly, every 3 weeks or monthly. They also do one time for moving, etc. but it costs more than if you are a regular schedule. I do some things during the month, but not everything they do.

Switched out the flannel sheets to regular cotton last night and woke up to snow. Murphy's Law.

Yikes Iggy aka IG ! In May?! To do (updated)- sort our box/Wed - sort DH's bag/Wed- sort night table (DH) - sort night table (me)
- sort DH's basket I forgot about the night tables. We have a rule: when a room is repainted, we go through EVERYTHING. We had the same rule for the kids. So I added those to the list.

Ouch on the snow! That's a beautiful view Iggy aka IG ! To do (updated)- sort our box/Wed - sort DH's bag/Wed - sort night table (DH)/Wed - sort night table (me)/Wed- sort DH's basket/Wed
Bedroom all done! EVERYTHING is sorted and put away. Seeing two friends tomorrow before going back to work on Fri. However, I now have another loan. DH paid for the bedroom redo. I want to pay him back for half (1460 euros) by the end of the year. He doesn't care, but I do.

So on my mini-redecorating project with throw pillows for my Sofa, I looked around for cheaper pillows, but decided I like the ones from Target. They have pink/raspberry/deep blue/light blue/green colors.
I realized DH is using a Red Lumbar ultra suede pillow that goes with the winter pillows on the floor. I found some ultra suede velour pillows in a blue color that will co-ordinate for $4.99 each. I also got two cotton quilted throws that match for the sofa. The throws may not last very long, but for $4.99 each - they are good for the dogs to sit on for the summer.
I am going to take back a few of the more expensive floral pillows so I don't have too much clutter in my living room.

bean29 and Knee Deep in Water Chloe , I like the idea of seasonal deco, but I am far too lazy to switch things out. ETA: I made DH go through his shoes ... 2 more (small) bags for the donation bin! They are in my car for tomorrow. That'll be 6 bags gone in 48 hours. There are also 4 pairs of men's shoes on the basement landing that are NOT DH's. I need to find out whose they are, and if I should keep or donate them.
ETA2: They are not DS1's either.

Off topic, but
I read the local paper online a bit ago.
My youngest nephew, who teaches at the residential school for kids with behavioral problems, was assaulted again two weeks. This time the kid got my nephew and another teacher. The student is 18 and has been arrested and charged with assault.
I sent a text to nephew to see if he is okay and to see if this is the same student who assaulted him before.
I do not want him to be having concussion symptoms again.
The student was arrested in the downtown area yesterday. I'm glad they have video on campus because the article said the assault happened at school.
I am relieved this school will be closing at the end of the school year and that my nephew has a job with the public school system for next year.
ETA: Just heard from nephew. He was not injured and it was a different kid. He can't wait for the school year to be over.

I have put away all the photos in frames, etc. for the cleaners. Will do the kitchen stuff tomorrow as I will be taking dad grocery shopping early on Friday.
My sister is taking him to a family funeral tomorrow so I can't take him on our "regular" day.

I don't have too much to switch out--curtains, valances, pillows, and a few decorative wall accents, hand towels, oh, silk flowers in two different rooms. I've been switching out the area rug that's in the tele part of the great room. However, remember we got a new couch about a year ago? It's damaging the wood floors. We've looked and looked, but I need 8.5' x 12' of rug to actually fit in that space and not annoy me with sticking out anywhere. We're getting a neutral color, and once it's under the current couch, we're not switching that one any more. The new sectional is a pain in the patooty to move. I might put the current area rug(s) under the dining table. I'll post those choices when the new area rug gets here and we can all decide together.

Lol. I count it as deep cleaning, but I don't count one item out the door. Ooookay. Now as I mentioned elsewhere my car was totalled last week. It never came in the door so getting rid of it is kind of iffy BUT I wrote a check for the new to me replacement. Between the two checks and the car, that should count for at least one thing right ?

I can't remember: Is he returning to the same site next school year? No, he is not. He will be teaching in the public schools. It not only pays more and has better benefits, the alternative school is supposed to be safer because of the staff to student ratio. I say staff because not everybody is a teacher. The facility where he teaches is closing and the public school system is taking over. The residential kids will be bussed to the public school. If they behave like this, they can be expelled. The school did not expel the student who assaulted my nephew in October but he is no longer allowed in the classroom building. The school also would not let nephew and another teacher he assaulted on a separate occasion press charges. Now there is no reason not to press charges against an 18 year old and the school is closing.

Everything is as ready this evening for the cleaners tomorrow as they can be. There are some things that can't be done until in the morning.
I've developed a list for those things.

Two of those 4 pairs of shoes were claimed. I took the last two bags to the donation bin today. Back to work tomorrow. The 6am alarm will be hard with the jet lag.
This weekend - gather/send car insurance info - pick up new car/Sat
I'm ashamed to say I'm not excited about the new car, I just see the money being spent. Our only car is nearly 10 years old, so I guess it's not too bad. I know I'll be happy next fall/winter when I'm driving through the forest in the dark in a new, reliable car.

My debt to DH for the bedroom reno has been driving me crazy, so I just transferred 460 euros from savings. I still owe DH 1000 euros but it's better than owing 1460 euros.
DH REALLY doesn't care, but I do. I just can't help it. I freely acknowledge that I am nuts.

TheOtherMe we ordered a Ford Fiesta two months ago, lease to purchase (the lease was DH's idea, not mine. I disagreed but didn't want to fight it.) This weekend- gather/send info for new car insurance/Fri- pick up new car/Sat - cancel old car insurance/Sat - pick up package for DDIL/Sat
I tried to cancel the old car insurance today but of course we have to do the trade-in first. I'm working tomorrow morning, the first of 4 Saturdays in May + June. Because money LOL.

I initially thought I was too lazy to redecorate with the seasons, but my neighbor stopped over last week and I was embarrassed by my winterish décor. I also have been looking for window treatments, but Idk if I am ready to pull the trigger on that (I would do new custom blinds or shades so $$ $$). I asked DH to look in the garage at his office and see if he has the valance for the vertical blind in the living room. We have a regular valance hanging there, and he never installed the valance I ordered. I want to take down the ones that have been hanging for 15 years now.
I took back my pillows that were blue and am hoping the green ones I ordered from Amazon work. I also ordered a second green throw. My fur babies have to have something to lay on!
I don't have a cleaning lady, but I hope to have one once I pay off my mortgage in 8-9 years.
Chloe, we had a sectional in our 2nd house, and it was fine there, but when we moved to the current house, the layout was a little different, and I had the hardest time convincing DH that we should get couches, not a sectional. the C curve sofa with no break in in impeded the traffic flow in the current house. I think most houses are probably too small for large sectionals. Our old neighbors had one that was so huge it just made the room really awkward to walk through. We had it sitting on carpeting, so it did not slide around, and we do miss how comfortable it was. New sofas, are not as comfortable to sit in!

House is clean and Lucy is happy that her toys are all still here. She always panics when I put away her toys.
Took dad shopping. He was mostly not talking today. At least he wasn't confused about bread like last week.
I keep throws on my couch as it's easier to change and keep clean from Lucy's fur.
