Sooooo, just got an update on the 5 damaged cabinets. They are saying delivery is "around" 10/30. I'm about ready to lose my shit. It takes a lot to make me mad, but I am with a partially finished kitchen that cannot have a sink or countertops installed until the end of this month. I didn't want to go with custom cabinets, because the guy was busy until mid-November, now DH is throwing it in my face that we should have just gone with custom. UGH! So, wise ones, what would you "demand". I told the rep that the manufacturer owes us "something" but I can't think straight on what that "something" should be. I had something similar with Sears a few years ago (before they were closing all those stores) and they pulled the "we can't do anything about it because "subcontractor, yada, yada, yada") on me. So I lost it and told them that I did not have a contract with subcontractor, I had a contract with them, and what were THEY going to do to make this right. They tried to weasle out of it but at every turn I brought it right back to them. I ended up with a nice reduction in price - in the form of a gift card unfortunately
That is what I would try here, provided your contract does not exclude holding them responsible -> go after Lowe's since they are the ones making the profit on your sale

My sister went after Lowe's several years ago after she bought a storm door and had them install because "her DH would do a lousy job". Well, Lowe's person ended up cutting the screen in several places.
She doesn't resort to tears normally but she said when she was at Lowe's telling them about it and that she didn't want that installer at her house ever again, she ended up in tears. She did get a new door, installed by someone else and installed correctly. I don't know if she got anything else.
I bought a washing machine from them and by late evening it was leaking.
I will not be shopping at Lowe's again.
The only other big box type store is a regional store called Menard's. So it will be them or local shops for me. I decided I'd rather pay more and have it done right the first time.
I'm so sorry. I can't imagine your frustration.

Received the bill today for the furnace tune-up a couple of weeks ago and the sump pump repair. No charge for the new sump pump or it's installation as promised.
The guy did fix the discharge pipe as it had separated outdoors and he added some gravel to the hole the water had made. No problem paying for that.
Now to get outside and check the hole to see how it's holding up on Sunday. It's too cold and windy today and tomorrow. Need to see how the discharge pipe held up in the wind, as a bit of it is above ground. It runs right along side the house, so I don't know how it got unattached before.

We had a Menard's in the place I used to live at, TheOtherMe. We only have Home Depot & Lowe's here, and Menards was the best of the three. I seriously miss them. When we moved here, I ordered a washer & dryer from Lowes, and the dryer they delivered looked like a car had backed into it, so I didn't even let them take it off the truck, & sent it back, although I did keep the washer. Because I'd wanted the chrome appliances, I had to wait, I think, a couple of weeks before they got another one in. I was very tired of using the nearest laundromat by the time it finally arrived. I don't plan on buying anything big from Lowe's again, either. I am currently furious with the local garbage company. First, you pay extra to get your recycling picked up in a separate bin. (We got a discount back home for sorting out our recycling.) Then, there were many weeks where they "forgot" to pick up our recycling. Finally, after MONTHS of this, we cancelled recycling (a big deal to me, since I try to do right by the environment, but I'm not paid to babysit their employees). Now, we've been trying since Hurricane Dorian to get them to pick up our empty recycling bin. So they finally come out this week, and, instead of picking up the recycling bin, they take my garbage can. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, but good grief! So, still trying to get everything straightened out. My garbage can is supposed to be returned on Wednesday, but in spite of multiple promises, I still have my recycling bin.

Wow, Sorry Busy. Funny how something so small (like cleaning off a cluttered kitchen table and changing the table cloth) can feel good. Did that last night when I got home from work. Also did some grocery shopping. Today's agenda: I am waiting for two curtain panels to deliver (did not order enough for the living room). Clean windows Deep clean living room Put up new insulated curtains. (weather is turning here, and the ones that are up are rather light weight) Change bedding Laundry Possibly scrub bathroom Some menu planning.
Little by little. Have a great weekend. Stay warm.

Was up too late last night watching volleyball and then we lost.
Bed is changed. One load of laundry is in dryer and another in washer.
There's frost on all the roofs of the houses and it's chilly in here because I keep my heat at 64.
Have to start cleaning for the cleaners, who come next Friday.
ETA: I'm now on the 4th load of laundry

I dropped off 3 more bags of clothes at the thrift store yesterday, more of MIL's and her sisters, then cleaned my closet again so ended up with 3 garbage bags. I have 2 more boxes to mail to hubs aunt and I'm done with that. I finally am through with washing all the blankets and stuff from her assisted living apartment. I took some to her and stored the rest, hate to get rid of good blankets, you never know. The sisters must have pack ratted everything that was left in that place. I'm sure it was hubs aunt, she had MIL's house packed from yard sales. She had so much upstairs hubs got concerned about the weight. MIL did get rid of bunches of it as she left.
I fumigated in the garage the other day, we had a rocker and twin bed, just in case. They were MIL's and took them to the basement. As hubs said we can use the extra bed in the basement if needed. She went to a memory care facility and they provide a bed and chest, night stand. We did get her a new recliner for her room. I don't think she realizes it, I told her, but that's ok.
Yesterday was clip sage and basil, I pulled the leaves off to dry, later I will crush. Cleaned twin tubs and brought them in to dry, hubs will put them up. Unhooked hoses, was supposed to freeze, not sure if it did or not, most outside stuff is ready. Just need to roll the hoses up on a warmer day and put away for winter.

The difference is the Huskers are good. The Buffs are rebuilding and injured. We don't have the depth for so many seriously injured players.
At least tomorrow's game is on ESPN so I can watch it on a television. I'm just afraid we will be embarrassed.

I have officially survived "Birthday party season" at our house. I love that both boys have fall birthdays but planning and pulling off parties a month apart is exhausting. My birthday is the 22nd, and I told H I am completely content with doing nothing- as in, I just want an easy day. DS1 is on fall break for the next week, so I am looking forward to doing things on our own schedule, and not our school routine. To Do List For The Week: Find homes for all the new toys DS2 received Organized DS2's closet Go through DS2's dresser and make sure all the sizes are good Laundry Dust/Vac Clean both bathrooms Clean kitchen Balance checkbook Make DS1 & DS2's well child appointments Get our flu shots

Medical stuff: I've had the same providers here for many years and, when they switched, I at least had the luxury of the base clinic to get a new/updated referral. Now that I'm moving to BFI, I'll be a the mercy of the VA should anything happen. I'm just going to not get sick or injured until I get settled in Indiana next year because I don't want to do it all twice. Ugh!!
My to do list: Today--pack Tomorrow (Monday)--pack and do a test run on seeing what'll fit in the car for the Iowa trip (if it doesn't fit, it gets loaded in the truck) Tuesday--load the moving truck Wednesday--get on the road

I need to stop by here more often. This group is very motivating.
On schedule for today:
Clear the clutter off the DR table. Run the dishwasher. Straighten the kitchen and bedroom. Head to work.
Maybe -- see Downton Abbey tonight.

This week - call gardener/Mon - bottle bank/Mon - pharmacy
We saw Downton Abbey with A last night, and went for a long walk today. So happy for this week's reduced schedule ... I'll have a ton of marking next weekend.

I slept in. I think I'm still recovering from being sick as I've been sleeping later than usual. With the exception of Friday night, I've been going to bed earlier.
So far: Backed up computer (financial stuff and a huge file named Transfer) Printed label for Amazon return Got box ready for Amazon return (will drop off Tuesday) Lucy box Roomba
There are two volleyball matches I plan to watch today. One is my team's match. Since that is my entertainment, I am going to watch them.
Need to get things ready for the cleaner (they come Friday)

Still just physically and emotionally exhausted. Trying to manage all the things is not going well at the moment.
I'm going to try to focus on what I have accomplished this past week: --finished 80 trick-or-treat bags for the Kindergarten pumpkin patch trip last Thursday --in the middle of 80 trick-or-treat bags for the First Grade pumpkin patch trip this coming Thursday --by Tuesday evening, I actually had my work email inbox cleaned out. (Granted it is back over 150 now, but it was empty at one point this week!) --saw DD#2 on Thursday evening as I traveled to a conference for Friday --cleaned out and scrubbed the fridge today --started the process of splitting all the iris tubulars. We have so many that it will take a while to finish that process. --vacuumed DD#2's bedroom (because why would she do that before leaving for college --DH has all of the laundry done (it's his job during American football season )
For the rest of today: --dresser cleaned off --weekly update for staff --email clean-out . (work and home) --wipe down kitchen cabinets --plan for the week --clean off desk/deal with shitepile --reading for grad class

Holy cow Chloe. Are all these bags because of your own position, or because you're married to your DH? Can't their teachers do their bags (even if the school district provides the supplies). Not that teachers don't have enough to do of course!
With all YOU have got going on now professionally (two jobs and the certification), perhaps it's time to take it down a notch?! Or ask for parent (or even older student) volunteers?

Have been sleeping most of day. Just took a shower and that made me feel better. My only other goal for today is to clean Lucy's box and get the trash out. I am very weak as I have not eaten since Saturday. I considered going to the ER last night but didn't do it. I seem to be improving now so I'm glad I didn't go there. Lucy is being a great nurse and staying right by me. Can you order some gatorade/coconut water or something for grocery delivery? Hope you can eat something and feel better soon. saveinla I live in a town of 2000. There is no grocery delivery, but thanks for caring. I will go the the gas station in the morning and get some gatorade. I did get Lucy's box taken care of and she is much happier. The trash is in the garage. It may not get to the curb this week. saveinla I live in a town of 2000. There is no grocery delivery, but thanks for caring. I will go the the gas station in the morning and get some gatorade. We don't have any access to fresh grocery delivery either. I live in a town of ~5,000 and a county of about 60K. The county itself is actually bigger than the state of Rhode Island. We do have two stores doing the pick-up service now. You can order online, drive to the store, and have the order just put in your car. The closest store for that is 20 miles away.

Ah OK Chloe. Makes much more sense then. Sorry. Would be nice if a few parents or teachers who live nearby helped you though.

I'm glad you're feeling a bit better TheO.
Job 1 (my main job) has become a total shitstorm. My friend/ colleague P (the only other English teacher at both schools) is quitting Job 1. P said, I can't tell you how I know this, but Job 2 will need more people in Sem 2, so please ask for more hours there. So I did. It's a longer commute but hey.
What killed me last fall was doing too many hours at both. If Job 2 gives me more hours, I'll reduce my hours at Job 1. I hate the constant juggling but that's life as an adjunct.
Fingers crossed for more hours at Job 2 (which has MANY hours less marking).

Made it back from our weekend at the cabin on the river. Mom is so bad I hope they get the hip replacement surgeries scheduled soon. She said she was going to call this week about why they haven't been scheduled yet. DD and the kids drove over for the day on Saturday. We were having lunch, at a restaurant, when DGS decided to start wailing. DD said box up my lunch and I will eat later and the two of them left. I assumed she was going back to the car to nurse but I guess she went to a few stores and did some shopping she had wanted to do. She was happy to have some time with just one kid and be able to do a few things she wanted to do. DGD was absolutely good as gold. She just sat there ate her fries dipped in ketchup and drank her water. There wasn't any trying to get down or trying to run around or yelling or anything. They had brought two childrens cups with straws and she claimed both of them and thought it was grand fun to have all that water, with straws. She wasn't interested in her hamburger and this grandma didn't push it. She was even semi-regularly using her napkin to wipe the ketchup off her face. I need to finish putting everything away so the house will still be mostly clean when the work week starts.

There is nothing left in the kitchen cabinets except a few pantry items that I'll consume over the course of Mon and Tues night this week and then a few nights, next week, when I'm back in the house for a few days. The drawers are empty, too. Sold my bed frame and some storage containers on FB Marketplace. I still have candles to pack but I will probably just do a "curb alert" and give them away instead. They're Partylite candles that I've had for damn near a decade, if not longer. I should be able to pack up the last little bit when I'm doing my dry-run car packing endeavor tomorrow. I also got the rest of my art wrapped in brown paper. 33 total parcels, some with more than one piece in them and some that measure 3' x 4' or more. I'm pooped. Time for a bath and then bed.
