Guess the painter I called isn't interested. Haven't heard a word.
I did get two names out of our weekly local newspaper. Will call them tomorrow and tell them I want them to come here and do an estimate.

We paid in full and have our own contractor to install. He has installed everything so far and I actually feel bad for him because we are not paying him until all the remainder of the cabinets are installed. So he is sitting on a partially completed project. He has done a lot of work in our house over the last couple years so he completely understands and feels bad for us. Lowes is working on trying to get the 2 base cabinets shipped quicker because those are what is holding up the countertops/sink being installed. I'm hoping to hear today how that is going. This is a manufacturer problem that Lowes has to deal with. The cabinets are semi-custom. They are painted (white) by order. They are not something "stocked" since there are a lot of finish choices. But still - put a rush on the 2 cabinets and if the other 3 take a bit longer, we are okay with that. I want my sink and countertops so we can actually function in our house. Floors were completed last Friday and we are so happy with them. We went with luxury vinyl since we have kids and a dog. The dog is not thrilled with them because he slides around. Is it bad we think it is funny? We need some type of comic relief during this reno. All the painting is 90% done. We have 4 rooms ready for trim to be installed (base, window, door and crown). I'm going to hit up our contractor to see when he can get started on that.

No, it isn't bad that you think it's funny to watch the dog slide on the floor.
I hope you can get something else out of Lowes.

Well I actually got the top cabinets cleaned and re-organized yesterday. I also got rid of hidden older food. I intend to work on the fridge and lower cabinets during the week.
I have 1 box full for donation. I know that is going to increase.

He did not want to come here to do an estimate and I don't like that. I'm thinking the local painters will come here to do an estimate.

Well done snapdragon ! I accepted another Admin student today. That's 4, which is my maximum. I won't take on any more. I accepted because she's 15 hours so only once or twice a month, not every week. Caught up on laundry. I am so happy having these few days (basically) off and sleeping late. This week (updated) - call gardener/Tues
There are only 8 weeks left in the semester. I should be on a reduced schedule for 4 of those 8 weeks (ie 3 days instead of 4 days). Plenty of marking, but still, yay!

I decided to wait until after the cleaners are here on Friday. The owner knows all kinds of people and she might give me names for painting. Also, if somebody wanted to come for an estimate this week, I don't want to do that. I have too much peopling to do this week.

I have officially survived "Birthday party season" at our house. I love that both boys have fall birthdays but planning and pulling off parties a month apart is exhausting. My birthday is the 22nd, and I told H I am completely content with doing nothing- as in, I just want an easy day. DS1 is on fall break for the next week, so I am looking forward to doing things on our own schedule, and not our school routine. To Do List For The Week: Find homes for all the new toys DS2 received Organized DS2's closet Go through DS2's dresser and make sure all the sizes are good Laundry Dust/Vac Clean both bathrooms Clean kitchenBalance checkbook Make DS1 & DS2's well child appointments Get our flu shots

I think the first painter I called has too many things going on. He's running for City Council in the city of 60K. The write up on him talks about how busy he is because he is a single parent who is attending college part time and operates two businesses.

The write up on him talks about how busy he is because he is a single parent who is attending college part time and operates two businesses. That's not busy. That's an inability to spend quality time with yourself. Too many people think they have to fill every minute of every day or they're slackers. I understand that a person often needs to have a side hustle to get by but self care is too much of a priority for me to do all that. In other news, the moving truck is loaded up. Time for a nap (there's that self care) and then I'll do the dry-run pack of the car.

I agree he has himself way over scheduled. He's going to end up ruining both business. He opened a restaurant at our small town airport (3 flights a day). No restaurant has ever succeeded in that airport. He just changed the menu, which made me wonder if it's struggling financially.
I agree he isn't taking care of himself and it will cost him, either health wise or financially.

Went to town this morning for a doctor's appointment. Got my flu shot and did my Amazon return. Got groceries and allowed myself two cups of chai tea.

Spent Sunday preparing for our upcoming annual Halloween party: Dusted the basement, including the guest room. Plugged in the guest room lamps, clock, and coffee maker.
Had DH pull the bedding from the camper so couple #2 can stay the night (bedding in the guest room was washed over the summer and hasn't been used since). Decorated the basement, aka party room. Prepared the drink list and menu, put needed items on the grocery list.
Conducted a party supply. We just need disposable tablecloths and bowls for my cauldron of chili. Asked guests for play list, aka, which albums to pull, ideas.
Mom gave my sister and me each a set of dishes since she downsized from a 2 story condo to a one story town home. I am so proud of her for purging!!! They match a set we already have. Because we don't have any more space for the 4 mugs, I pulled four old, water etched glasses to put into the donate box.
Saturday I bought a new bed which will be delivered in a few weeks. Our 13-year-old mattress set will be picked up by the delivery people.

Got mine on Saturday and they gave me an old biddy shot → extra strenght. Never had that before because up until this year I got my shot here at work and they only had the standard version, but this year they made it too complicated (they gave you an appointment time, but without looking at your calendar).
Dang it, the world can't seem to stop rubbing it in that I am no longer 21

NastyWoman, I love this so much! When I go in to get mine, I get a raised eyebrow, then I say, "Lifelong asthmatic" and their light bulb goes off, LOL.

Lots getting done today (not by me though lol). I made a big chili and cornbread today, and froze the leftovers. Back to work tomorrow, and getting tons of marking on Thurs.

I am also making a big batch of chili to have for the next few days; with visitors and crazy schedules, at least there will be something to warm up. I made a cake to have and bought 3 bags of Halloween candy.

My birthday is Thursday. Dad gives me $$$ so I already bought what I wanted for myself. As soon as check is in bank, will pay it off.
I've sent a text to my sister to see if we can get together that day. I hope she is busy right now because I'm going to be sad if she doesn't want to get together.
As long as I have lived here, she has stuff for her family on their birthdays. Some times I'm invited and sometimes I'm not. The only time they did anything for my birthday, it turned in to a disaster. My niece had come to the realization that they couldn't keep the cat they got for my great niece because she is so allergic. Niece was in tears and her husband finally came and got her while they made a family decision of what to do. That left sister upset and it never felt like anybody cared that it was my birthday.

I spent 2.5 hours in DS2's room today. I organized EVERYTHING. I went through all of his clothing. I found homes for all his new birthday toys. I pulled a lot of stuff out to get rid of- I need to count it for my "official purge count" still, but its a huge laundry basket full of random things. I want to send before photos to EVERYONE who buys for my kid for Christmas to show them that he absolutely does NOT need any toys gifted to him.

Have been keeping up with things. Still have lots of things to do but have managed to accomplished a few things this week so far. Had a meeting yesterday and went to a funeral for a friend's DH Monday. Bills that have come in have been paid. Dishes and laundry are currently up to date. In fact I have to unload the dishwasher this morning since I ran it last night.
Some of the ongoing projects have been finished. Only one left to finish. Squeezing in a few easy to finish ones in between and to give me a break from the complicated one. Needed to make a few more seasonal earrings as I sold all of the ones I had made earlier this year. I have a craft show every week scheduled throughout this month and half through next month plus two in December. I don't make a lot at these but they provide me with a different activity with others and the little I do make goes into buying needed supplies. I spend a lot of time on my own and these I treat as fun outings. I also do these with a friend as it cuts down on expenses and provides us with little breaks as we check out the items created by the other crafters at these events.
Continuing to take the two craft type classes I started taking last year. I have a possible Christmas gift started in one of them. If it gets finished in time that is. If not it will be a birthday gift for DSS this summer instead of part of his Christmas one. In the other class, we are working on our third project. Most of these are small ones and are done in class and takes a few classes to finish each.
Goals for this week: Several held over from last week or new ones with same topics.
Crafts:
*Project -- one complicated one in progress. Hope to get a few easy items done as well. *Update Etsy listings-- still need to do this. *Add at least one item to the shop *Pack car for craft show *Recharge back up charges and square device *Sale taxes -- checks written and mailed off.
Commitments and Errands: *Tutoring -- Today *Classes -- Wednesday and Thursday *Craft Show -- Saturday *Post Office.
Routine Home Items: *Maintain the organized areas *Keep up with dishes and laundry *Organize at least two one areas *Add several more items to donation box/ trash/library donation *Roomba several rooms *Clear flat areas in BR (ongoing issue)
Sure that I have other items to add to this.
Decided that I better post this long one before I lose it.

TheOtherMe -- Glad that your sister agree to meet with you. BTW have a Happy Birthday. Hope you find a painter to meet your needs. debthaven -- You are half way through the semester. Glad that you have the online marking working and that your schedule seems to be more manageable. You will be finished before you know it. Iggy aka IG -- your party sounds like fun. But also a lot of work for you. Mixed blessings! ohmomto2boys -- Wishing that you will get this issue settled asap. Continuing work in other areas sounds like a good plan and since it needs to be done might as well tackle it while waiting for the problems to be settled. nidena -- Safe travels. nikiz628, plugginaway22 and snapdragon -- good job on finishing those items. Knee Deep in Water Chloe -- Way to go with the treat bags for the little ones. What a lot of work but lots of joy for the kids receiving them.

I'm so glad you're getting together with your sister for your birthday TheO. Forgot I had a test at Job 2 today. This week 28 tests/Wed (lots of absences so I'll have more next week)

Lots of absences. Is there a bug going around or is it a coincidence?
Mostly have things picked up so the cleaning can get done on Friday. I did clean off the place where my shitpile ends up.
Appears I forgot to put one photo away as my parents' wedding photo is staring at me.

Lots of absences. Is there a bug going around or is it a coincidence?I'm ashamed to admit this but it's probably because I forgot to tell them they'd have a test today. I was going to postpone it, but it was a listening comprehension, and you can't study for that anyway, so hey. Job 2 is much more indulgent than Job 1. I had to send a list of the absentees, my boss at Job 2 will convoke them for a very early retake next Wed morning. Also there are school elections going on now (not sure if that's a thing in the US) so a lot of students are too busy with elections to bother coming to class. But still, my bad for not having warned them. I think that is the first time I have ever forgotten. If it had been something they could have studied for, I would have postponed it. If they miss more than 2/10 classes, they lose a LOT of points on their final mark. That keeps most of them in check. The ones who miss more than 2 classes generally have other issues.

Today I found out, no more classes at Job 2 next Semester. They DID offer me another class, but it's an elective that starts in March. It may or may not open, depending on how many students sign up. I had forgotten about this at Job 2/Sem 2. (Looks like I'm forgetting a lot lately lol.) Obviously I'm not going to refuse definite hours at Job 1 that start in Jan in the hopes that this elective *MAY* open in March. So I'll do my hours at Job 1 as initially planned.
I will have 1 less student class/one more Admin class at Job 1 in Sem 2, and as moneysquirrel pointed out, I'm managing fine with my current schedule. In other news, I've decided to audition for the next play. I am definitely certifiable. IF I am cast, I MAY give up one class at Job 1. We'll see. It's another very American play, and my other very American castmates from last year are all bugging me to audition with them. <3
